    Chapter 147: Household Service Robot

“Uncle, I’ve already traded two mechanical creations with you. Can I get a discount for another exchange? How about a buy-one-get-one-free deal?” Yan Yu suggested with a smile.

“Hahaha!” The man laughed, then pointed to his upper right. The opposite screen displayed the other side—probably the direction opposite to him. “Check the time, little girl. This time, the platform is only open for thirty minutes. Your shelf is still full of leftovers from the last trade, isn’t it?”

“Yes! Why?” Upon hearing it was only thirty minutes, Yan Yu’s speech quickened.

    Her mind raced.

“If your energy supply is low, this happens. Your shelf didn’t refresh properly. Alright, let’s not waste time. What do you want to trade for?”

    “A combat robot!”

    “Don’t have one!”

    Yan Yu: …

“Do you have to answer so bluntly?”

“I really don’t. Little girl, what do you take me for? A war profiteer? I’m just someone struggling on the poverty line! If I had combat robots, my access level would be way higher! Would I still be living in the slums?”

The uncle looked aggrieved. His inventory was dazzling and full of high-tech items, but that depended on the comparison. In his world, he was at the bottom.

“What’s wrong? Are you in danger?” he asked with concern.

The little girl on the other side was an important customer—an excellent buyer.

“Yeah, there’s a bit of trouble.” Yan Yu hadn’t expected to hit a wall with the uncle.

The limited exchange time always left her understanding of the situation incomplete.

The uncle thought for a moment and said, “I suggest you trade for a mechanical beast instead. Some of them were originally combat models, but after being scrapped, their combat main systems were removed. Their basic defense modules are still intact. Humanoid combat robots almost never appear in scrap yards. You can only find parts on the black market. If you want a complete one, even selling me wouldn’t cover the cost. Combat and civilian models are entirely different. Even their systems aren’t compatible…”

Yan Yu quickly caught a few key points from his long-winded explanation.

Scrapyard. Mechanical beasts have had their combat systems removed. Forget about getting a combat robot.

“Uncle, these are all modified scrapped machines? That means the cost is close to nothing. Give me a bigger discount!” Yan Yu haggled adorably.

    Her mindset switched fast.

No combat robots? Change targets! Wasting time wasn’t an option.

The man on the other side: …

“Trade an exploration robot and throw in a household service robot for free!” Yan Yu made an outrageous demand.

The uncle dramatically clutched his chest. “Pfft!”

“Even a ‘bleeding-out clearance sale’ wouldn’t go this far!”

“Does the household service robot handle all aspects of home life?” She needed to confirm whether it included the all-in-one functionality her mother required.

The uncle dropped the act. Both knew time was tight.

“What functions do you need? I can load various civilian function modules.”

“Taking care of pregnant women, delivering babies, childcare, and postpartum care,” Yan Yu listed quickly.

The uncle sighed, looking utterly defeated.

“You want a medical model. I don’t have that.”

Before the little girl could ask, he explained, “Medical models involve too many patented modules and are extremely expensive. There are no scrapped versions—only ones that get a shell replacement and continuous upgrades. Even if I got one, you wouldn’t be able to use it. Where would you get the matching medical equipment and medicine? They’re all from my world.

“Take childbirth, for example… To ensure fetal survival, we’ve long switched to external cultivation… Ahem, anyway, getting one is pure luck. Since you have this need, I’ll do my best to find one—customer first! Based on your situation, I think the most basic version of a health-check robot would suit you.”

“What’s that?” Yan Yu was confused.

“It diagnoses your illnesses, pinpoints the affected areas, and basically functions as a compilation of all hospital examination machines from before.

“As for treatment… well, you’re on your own.” The uncle spread his hands.

Dealing with a technologically primitive world was like this. High-tech items were often unusable there.

“I want that. If you find one, save it for me!” Yan Yu immediately reserved it.

“Deal!” The uncle agreed readily and returned to the topic. “As for the two types of robots, buy-one-get-one-free? No way! Get that ridiculous idea out of your head.”

“Then how much meat do you want for both?”

The uncle shook his head, smiling apologetically.

“Little girl, just one, okay? Horse meat… Ahem, I don’t really like it.”

Yan Yu’s eyes widened. Heartbroken, she exclaimed, “Uncle, aren’t you struggling on the poverty line? How can you be picky? That’s meat! Horse meat is nutritious! Here, pork costs 20 wen, but horse meat sells for 30 wen!”

“No matter how nutritious, it’s not better than nutrient fluid…” the uncle muttered.

    Yan Yu: …

    She had no words.

The uncle wasn’t lacking food—he had nutrient fluid in all flavors.

He was just craving something different…

Yan Yu glanced at the time, weighing her options between the two robots.

    “Household service robot!”

The uncle chuckled. “Good choice! This is the same one my buddy ordered—customized for ancient-era settings. Its learning module is upgraded. In theory, as long as it watches a complete demonstration once, it can learn. Of course, only for household tasks.

“For example, if you need to repair a roof, that falls under the construction system, which isn’t compatible. But embroidery is categorized under household clothing production, so it can do that.”

“Oh, right! Childcare is part of household services too. Did I forget to mention that all intelligent machines in my world have built-in protocols for protecting and caring for younglings—starting from the embryonic stage?

“If mother and child are considered one unit, they should also take care of pregnant women.

“So, your requirements? You got two out of four! Surprised?”

Yan Yu grinned and nodded in satisfaction.

Looking at it this way, the household service robot was a great deal!

“Do you have any requests for its appearance?” the uncle asked.

“What was the original design?” Yan Yu was curious.

“See for yourself.” The uncle did some quick operations, and a woman with an ordinary, kind face walked out. “Special request—minimal distinguishing features. The kind you forget after seeing once but recognize when you see again.”

Yan Yu curled her lips. “That’s perfect.”

“Oh, by the way, that guy didn’t want a voice module. Do you need one?” the uncle asked.

    A voice module…

“It can’t talk?” Yan Yu raised a brow.

After some thought, she said, “That’s actually pretty good.”

She curiously asked, “Has the guy who ordered this ever come online again?”

The uncle shook his head regretfully. “Nope.”

He had admired that guy—sharp mind, potential as a major client. Who knew how he was doing now? Hope he was safe…
