Chapter 81: Is This Not Enough?

After hanging up the phone, Shen Fei casually made an excuse to gloss over the matter.

He genuinely wanted to tell Han Xinyan the truth about what had happened, but he feared it would frighten her, or worse, the situation would become increasingly difficult to explain.

Fortunately, Han Xinyan merely glanced at Shen Fei lightly and didn’t probe further.

At 7:30 PM, Shen Fei drove his newly purchased car to Z.G.C restaurant.

Under the guidance of the waiter, Shen Fei arrived in front of Jiang Rou at 8:01 PM.

Her hair was tied up in a neat bun, with a few strands of loose hair falling gracefully on her forehead—simple, elegant, and exuding a professional aura. She carried herself with the presence of a strong career woman.

Under the restaurant’s soft lighting, her skin appeared delicate and fair, making her look far younger than a woman in her thirties.

“President Jiang, I’ve heard so much about you! I didn’t expect you to be even more beautiful in person than in the photos online, and even more charismatic,” Shen Fei complimented with a smile.

“Mr. Shen, you flatter me! Please, take a seat!” Jiang Rou responded politely.

There’s no woman who doesn’t enjoy being complimented, and Jiang Rou was no exception. Shen Fei’s words softened the tension, and the atmosphere between them was far from hostile.

“What I said is the truth! But tell me, President Jiang, meeting me after work hours—do you intend to discuss life, or are we talking business?” Shen Fei teased as he sat down.

As soon as he did, Jiang Rou felt an invisible pressure emanating from him. Staring at Shen Fei, she couldn’t detect even the slightest crack in his composure.

This feeling of oppression was stronger than when she faced Qian Dasheng, the chairman of her company.

Shen Fei’s simple clothes and youthful appearance—he looked no older than his twenties—made it baffling how he could possess such an imposing presence.

Jiang Rou, usually adept at reading people’s emotions in negotiations, was clearly at a loss.

“Mr. Shen, you’re joking! What would you like to eat?” Jiang Rou forced herself to remain calm, smiling warmly.

“No need, I’ve already eaten,” Shen Fei declined. “You’d better answer my earlier question first.”

“What’s the difference?” Jiang Rou asked, confused.

“If it’s about business, I’ll gladly cooperate. But if it’s about life, forgive me—I’m not interested in idle chatter,” Shen Fei said bluntly.

Hearing this, Jiang Rou chuckled lightly. “Mr. Shen, you have a strong sense of responsibility—truly rare in the business world.”

“A stable home is the foundation for pursuing one’s career,” Shen Fei replied earnestly. Then, changing his posture, he added, “President Jiang, let’s get straight to the point. No need to beat around the bush.”

“Fine! Since you’re being so direct, I won’t waste words either. Are you willing to sell the land in Lijiazhuang, Mr. Shen?” Jiang Rou asked, her tone turning sharper.

“Of course! Profit comes first. The question is—how much sincerity is Qian Kun Group showing?” Shen Fei replied casually.

“Mr. Shen, I heard from my subordinates that you purchased Lijiazhuang for a total of 80 million yuan. With 70 households, each property averages 1.2 million.”

“If Qian Kun Group offers 2 million per household, how does that sound? That’s an extra 800,000 yuan profit for each unit—56 million in total for all 70 households!” Jiang Rou said softly, her tone firm and decisive.

Throughout the conversation, Jiang Rou closely observed Shen Fei, hoping to find some micro-expressions or emotional cracks.

With her background in psychology as a university minor, Jiang Rou had leveraged such skills to thrive in the business world.

Yet now, none of those techniques worked against Shen Fei. His calm demeanor showed no reaction.

“President Jiang, I didn’t come here to listen to empty offers,” Shen Fei said coolly. “If I were simply after that 800,000 yuan profit per unit, I would’ve dealt with your subordinates earlier instead of insisting on someone with authority to meet me.”

Hearing this, Jiang Rou was momentarily stunned, then smiled again. “Mr. Shen, as far as I know, you only acquired Lijiazhuang yesterday. In just one day, you’re making 800,000 yuan per property—isn’t that enough?”

“Is that all?” Shen Fei tapped the table with his finger.

    “What?” Jiang Rou frowned, puzzled.

“Since that’s the case, we’ll leave it at that. Goodbye.”

With that, Shen Fei stood up and walked out without hesitation.

Jiang Rou was left dumbfounded. By the time she recovered, Shen Fei had already disappeared from sight.

Her grip on the water cup tightened, and for the first time, the usually composed Jiang Rou couldn’t help but curse under her breath.

    “Dammit!”

Two million per household, totaling 140 million yuan—was that still not enough?

Even if he disagreed, couldn’t he at least negotiate? What kind of attitude was walking away without a word?

Jiang Rou felt a fire of frustration but had no outlet to vent. She was deeply aggrieved.

Since graduating, this was the first time she had faced such a setback in business negotiations.

Shen Fei’s aura was simply too overwhelming, and she couldn’t find a single weak point to exploit.

From today’s interaction, Jiang Rou understood one thing clearly—Shen Fei was not someone to be trifled with.

Her only option now was to report back to Chairman Qian Dasheng.

    Back at the apartment.

At this moment, Shen Xinyue was watching TV while Han Xinyan played with Shen Jiayue.

The door suddenly made a sound.

Both mother and daughter turned their heads toward it.

“You’re back already? How did the negotiation go?” Han Xinyan asked, glancing at her watch.

“You’ve only been out for forty minutes!”

“Well, the other side wasn’t sincere enough,” Shen Fei replied with a helpless smile.

“What happened?” Han Xinyan asked curiously.

“I want to make 800 million, but she only offered me a little over 100 million,” Shen Fei said lightly.
