Chapter 301: This Is a Test!

Jiang Tiancheng didn’t take what the third man said seriously.

For someone like him, finding capable subordinates was never an issue—why would he pick such foolish individuals? Wouldn’t that just be digging a hole for himself?

After all, in this era of big data, only these three could still be stupid enough to try kidnapping! Anyone with even a basic understanding of society today would know better.

Even if you take a step back and examine the plan, it might seem passable at first glance, but on closer inspection, it’s full of flaws. Once any of those flaws are discovered, the entire operation would collapse on its own.

Jiang Tiancheng looked at the group. This time, using all his connections, he located their hideout in less than three hours. That was the best evidence of their failure!

It wasn’t arrogance—given his status, he could find any kind of underlings he wanted.

“Go bring Yueyue back!” Jiang Tiancheng said coldly.

    “Got it!”

Old Zhao waved his hand, and a few men went forward, picked up Shen Jiayue, and brought the little girl back.

Seeing their only bargaining chip taken away, the three kidnappers were utterly helpless.

“Mr. Jiang, we’ve let her go! Now it’s time for you to keep your promise!” Old Liu finally spoke up when the girl returned safely to Jiang Tiancheng’s side.

“Hm? What promise did I make to you?”

While gently patting the little girl’s face to calm her, Jiang Tiancheng finally turned to look at the three men.

They were stunned upon hearing his words.

Noticing the mocking expression on Jiang Tiancheng’s face, unease quickly crept over them.

“Mr. Jiang, all we ask is a way out. If you let us live and take us under your wing, we’ll risk our lives for you, through fire or flood! If you don’t want us, then please have mercy and let us go. Although we kidnapped the child, we never harmed her! Now that we’ve released her, if you ever need us in the future, we’ll come to help you without hesitation!” Old Liu said firmly.

Despite the panic in his heart, he kept his expression calm.

“Do you really think that’s a situation I’d ever face? Haven’t you heard of my name in Deep City? Besides, I may speak harshly, but I never do anything illegal! Oh, and by the way, everything I just said was nonsense. I pride myself on acting openly and honorably! If I did anything bad, I wouldn’t live to see the sunrise tomorrow!” Jiang Tiancheng said mockingly.

Hearing this, everyone nearby tried hard to suppress their laughter. They knew Jiang Tiancheng well. The words he had just said were obviously lies, meant only to intimidate the kidnappers.

After all, while Jiang Tiancheng was powerful, his father, Jiang Anbang, was a man of utmost integrity who maintained a strong moral presence at home. If Jiang Tiancheng did anything wrong, it wouldn’t be outsiders he’d have to worry about—it’d be his own father.

But the kidnappers, including the bald man and the scar-faced man, couldn’t have known any of this.

As soon as Jiang Tiancheng finished speaking, Old Liu and the others were so enraged they trembled.

Before they could respond, Jiang Tiancheng added, “Also, I never said I’d let you go! That’s just your own wishful thinking.”

“Damn it! You’re toying with us!” Old Liu roared hysterically.

    The atmosphere instantly turned ice-cold.

Jiang Tiancheng clenched his fists in fury and stared menacingly at Old Liu for a long moment. Then he waved Old Zhao over and whispered a few words to him. After Old Zhao nodded, Jiang Tiancheng picked up the still-shaken Shen Jiayue and headed toward his car.

He called over a subordinate to drive.

    “You can’t leave, Jiang!”

“Damn it, Mr. Jiang, be a man and deal with this properly!”

“Don’t go! How can you go back on your word?”

Seeing Jiang Tiancheng about to leave, the scar-faced man, Old Liu, and the bald man panicked.

But no matter how they shouted, Jiang Tiancheng didn’t look back.

Watching the hundred-plus men surrounding them, the three kidnappers were quickly consumed by despair.

“Jiang, I swear, if I get the chance, I’ll kill you!” the scar-faced man screamed.

Unbeknownst to him, Jiang Tiancheng heard the threat and only sneered disdainfully. Such threats meant nothing to him.

After Jiang Tiancheng and Shen Jiayue drove away, Old Zhao began issuing orders to the team leaders.

“Mr. Jiang said to teach them a lesson. Hit them, but don’t kill them.”

At those words, the hundred or so men cracked their knuckles and flexed their muscles, looking menacingly at the three kidnappers.

In no time, the empty, desolate area grew lively—but the shouting that followed sounded quite miserable.

Meanwhile, in the back seat of the Panamera, Jiang Tiancheng carefully removed Shen Jiayue’s restraints and peeled the tape off her mouth.

Although he was as gentle as possible, the little girl still trembled in fear.

Once the restraints were off, she immediately burrowed into Jiang Tiancheng’s arms.

    “Uncle Jiang, I’m scared!”

“Don’t be afraid, Yueyue. You’re safe now,” Jiang Tiancheng said softly, comforting her.

“Yueyue, you were so brave! You faced such a tough test without being scared!”

Hearing this, Shen Jiayue stopped crying and tilted her head in confusion.

“Uncle Jiang, what’s a test? What were you testing me for?”

“Ahem…” Jiang Tiancheng cleared his throat and smiled.

“It was a test of your courage! Tell me, Yueyue, did those people hurt you?”

The little girl’s tear-streaked eyes blinked as she thought about it.

“No, the man with the scar on his face just scared me a little.”

Hearing this, Jiang Tiancheng felt both heartache and anger. But since the little girl still seemed unsettled, he held back his temper and continued gently,

“Did you cry because you were scared? Or…”

Jiang Tiancheng leaned closer and sniffed her with a teasing smile.

“Or did Yueyue get so scared that she wet her pants?”

Children are innocent by nature, and Jiang Tiancheng’s playful teasing quickly made her forget her troubles. She burst out laughing.

“Uncle Jiang, you said I was brave! How could I wet my pants?”

“Haha, Yueyue really is brave!” Jiang Tiancheng praised her.

“Uncle Jiang, so this game was to test my courage?” Shen Jiayue asked.

“Yes, Yueyue. Besides testing your courage, it was also to teach you that the world can be full of hidden dangers. You need to be careful in the future!” Jiang Tiancheng explained.

“Then why didn’t you tell me this was a test game?” Shen Jiayue asked, pouting slightly.

    —————- END —————-

    Chapter 302: Any Clues Yet?

The “test of courage” explanation was something Jiang Tiancheng came up with on the spot.

He knew that without this explanation, the little girl would likely be left with psychological trauma, and this experience could have a significant impact on her future life. So, despite the anger raging inside him, he suppressed his emotions and comforted Shen Jiayue with a smile.

Seeing how upset the little girl was, Jiang Tiancheng quickly smiled and said,

“Yueyue, if we told you beforehand, would you still be afraid? This was something your mom and dad decided on earlier. They wanted to see how you would handle danger! Next time something similar happens, you’ll already have some experience. But remember, no matter what happens, your mom, dad, and Uncle Jiang will always be by your side to protect you!”

“Oh, I see! If Yueyue had known earlier, I definitely wouldn’t have been afraid!” The little girl nodded half-understandingly.

Hearing this, Jiang Tiancheng’s expression turned slightly unnatural. His explanation was full of holes, but since Yueyue was only three years old—innocent and naive—she believed him completely.

“Uncle Jiang, then Yueyue was really brave this time, wasn’t I?” The little girl proudly declared.

Pausing for a moment, she looked at Jiang Tiancheng,

“So Daddy and Mommy knew all along?”

Having gone through such a kidnapping, the little girl now showed no signs of fear or terror under Jiang Tiancheng’s well-meaning deception.

Seeing this, Jiang Tiancheng was very satisfied with himself and smiled contentedly.

“Of course, they knew! Otherwise, how would your dad and mom have let Uncle Jiang come to take you home? They love you so much! If it were a real kidnapping, they’d have rushed to get you right away, don’t you think?”

Before Shen Jiayue could ask any more questions, Jiang Tiancheng quickly followed up,

“Yueyue, next time something like this happens, will you still be scared?”

“No, I won’t!” The little girl shook her head firmly.

“That’s the spirit! If something really happens, you need to stay calm and think of ways to handle it!”

After some thought, Jiang Tiancheng shared some basic coping strategies with her. The little girl listened intently, her big, sparkling eyes wide with excitement.

    “Uncle Jiang, you’re amazing!”

Hearing her praise, Jiang Tiancheng smiled brightly,

“Just a little bit, just a little bit!”

“Yueyue, now the test is over, and you’ve been so brave. Are you still scared when you think about it?”

The little girl tilted her head, thought for a moment, then shook her head,

“No, I’m not scared anymore! I passed the test!”

“Yueyue is amazing! Now Uncle Jiang will call your dad and tell him to wait at home and praise you a lot when you get back!” Jiang Tiancheng said fondly.

    “Okay!”

Hearing this, the little girl cheered happily. Seeing her so cheerful, Jiang Tiancheng breathed a sigh of relief.

After handing Yueyue a small toy, he dialed Shen Fei’s number.

At that moment, Shen Fei was preparing to send the scar ointment formula to the kidnappers’ email.

At the Xin Yue Group customer service office.

Shen Fei looked extremely anxious as time ticked by. He couldn’t sit still.

Just then, a police officer approached him.

“Mr. Shen, the equipment is ready! Also, we have new intel and have located one of the suspects! If they call again, just follow their instructions. Our technical team is ready to pinpoint their location as soon as they check the email…”

Before the officer could finish, Shen Fei’s phone rang.

The screen displayed Jiang Tiancheng’s name.

    Shen Fei immediately answered, anxious,

    “Tiancheng, any news?”

“Yes! Fei, Yueyue is already on her way home! The ‘test’ was a success! I’ll explain the details on WeChat!” Jiang Tiancheng said briefly.

    “Alright!”

Shen Fei nodded heavily, taking several deep breaths as he finally relaxed.

    “I’ll head home immediately!”

After hanging up, Shen Fei rushed out the door.

“Mr. Shen, what’s going on?” The officer asked, confused.

“Yueyue has already been rescued!” Shen Fei replied.

Without waiting for further questions, he hurried toward the parking lot.

    The officer was stunned.

“Already rescued? And that call just now… was it Jiang Tiancheng? Did Jiang Tiancheng save the little girl?”

    Meanwhile.

After the call, Jiang Tiancheng began editing his fabricated explanation for Shen Fei, telling him to get home quickly and inform Han Xinyan so they wouldn’t give anything away.

Seeing the message, Shen Fei finally felt relieved.

Taking a deep breath, he thanked Jiang Tiancheng and drove home as quickly as possible. He needed to speak to Han Xinyan before Yueyue arrived.

    Fifteen minutes later.

    At Yunhe Villa.

Hearing the door, Han Xinyan immediately looked over,

“Any clues? Is Yueyue still scared? It’s all my fault!”

Thinking back to the moment Yueyue was taken after school, Han Xinyan’s heart ached. She looked drained, her face pale and sickly.

“Xinyan, don’t worry! Yueyue has already been rescued by Tiancheng! He made up a story on the way home, saying it was a ‘courage test’ we planned for Yueyue. I know it sounds ridiculous, but Yueyue believed it! Now we just need to play along and prevent her from feeling traumatized!” Shen Fei quickly comforted her.

Han Xinyan froze, tears halting as she stared at Shen Fei,

    “Is this really true?”

“Of course! Why would I lie about something so important?” Shen Fei reassured her.

    “Alright, I’ll go freshen up!”

A glimmer of hope appeared in Han Xinyan’s eyes as she rushed to wash up, ignoring the weakness in her legs.

    Minutes later.

Jiang Tiancheng finally returned to Yunhe Villa with Shen Jiayue.

The moment the door opened, the little girl excitedly ran toward Shen Fei and Han Xinyan,

    “Daddy, Mommy!”

“Yueyue, you’re amazing! This test didn’t scare you at all, did it?” Shen Fei said with a smile, pulling Yueyue into his arms.

The feeling of having her back safe and sound was overwhelming.

“Daddy, I didn’t even know it was a test… Can you tell me next time in advance?” The little girl smiled brightly.

Hearing this, Shen Fei and Han Xinyan’s hearts skipped a beat.

They never wanted Yueyue to experience anything like this again.

“Yueyue, it’s Mommy’s fault. I should’ve taken better care of you!” Han Xinyan said quickly, full of guilt.

“Mommy, I thought it was fun! I was really brave!” The little girl, oblivious to their worry, declared proudly.

    —————- END —————-

Chapter 303: Thank You So Much!

Seeing Yueyue smiling happily, and wiping away the tears in her eyes, Han Xinyan finally felt relieved.

And all of this was thanks to Jiang Tiancheng!

Thinking of this, Han Xinyan looked at Jiang Tiancheng again, her eyes full of gratitude.

If Jiang Tiancheng hadn’t rescued Yueyue in time,

If he hadn’t quickly come up with a reasonable explanation to ease Yueyue’s heart,

The little girl might not have been saved so quickly, nor would her psychological trauma have been resolved so soon.

    “Tiancheng, thank you so much!!”

    Han Xinyan thanked him sincerely.

“Sister-in-law, saying that makes us sound distant!” Jiang Tiancheng quickly waved his hand dismissively.

“Mommy, I want to take a bath! There are bugs on me, it’s itchy!”

The little girl whined as she scratched herself.

“Alright, alright, Mommy will take you to bathe right now!”

Hugging her daughter and pressing her cheek against Shen Jiayue’s face, Han Xinyan felt a wave of comfort in her heart and hurriedly agreed to her daughter’s request.

    “Ah-Yan!”

Shen Fei stopped Han Xinyan and smiled,

“This was a test! Yueyue was very brave—you must praise her a lot!”

Hearing this, Han Xinyan immediately understood Shen Fei’s meaning.

“Alright, I’ll be sure to praise Yueyue!”

After Han Xinyan carried Shen Jiayue into the bathroom, Shen Fei turned to Jiang Tiancheng, looking serious and once again sincerely said,

    “Tiancheng, thank you so much!”

“Brother Fei, now you’re the one being too polite! Don’t I have a little bit of influence here in Shen City? Of course, I had to use it! Besides, haven’t I benefited so much from following you? Helping out a little is the least I can do!” Jiang Tiancheng said quickly.

“Still, I have to thank you! If you hadn’t called in time, I would have sent the formula for the scar cream to them. A formula is nothing compared to Yueyue!” Shen Fei said with lingering fear.

“Mr. Shen, the tech team at the national police headquarters isn’t just sitting around either! If you had sent the formula, our team would have attached a virus to it. The moment they opened it, their devices would’ve been infected. They wouldn’t have had any clue that it was a trap!”

A female officer who had been supporting Han Xinyan spoke up.

    “Good! I understand!”

Shen Fei replied calmly, then looked back at Jiang Tiancheng,

“Tiancheng, you brought Yueyue back. What’s the situation with those kidnappers now?”

Jiang Tiancheng glanced at the female officer out of the corner of his eye, looking conflicted.

If possible, he didn’t want to disclose too much to the police.

    “Officer Yu!”

Noticing Jiang Tiancheng’s hesitation, Shen Fei called softly.

“Huh? Mr. Shen, I’ll go report to Captain Zhong right now!” The officer quickly responded, grabbed her phone, and left the room.

“Let’s talk, Tiancheng,” Shen Fei said, pointing toward the balcony before walking over.

Jiang Tiancheng followed him, and once they reached the balcony, Shen Fei prompted,

    “Now, tell me.”

    “Alright, here’s what happened…”

Jiang Tiancheng recounted everything he knew.

“Brother Fei, those four kidnappers? I already had a hundred of my men teach them a lesson! I’m sure by now they’ve realized their mistake. What do you want to do with them? Whether you want them dead or alive, it’s up to you—I’ll take care of it!”

Hearing this, Shen Fei looked at Jiang Tiancheng with a hint of surprise. After a pause, he sighed helplessly,

“Hand them over to the police.”

Even though he was furious about the kidnappers’ actions, for Jiang Tiancheng’s sake, Shen Fei chose the safest method to resolve it.

“Tiancheng, you sent a hundred men after those kidnappers—will that cause any problems?” Shen Fei asked with concern.

“No, I was just being a good citizen! Besides, they were vicious criminals. If we had let them get desperate, who knows what could’ve happened? My timely intervention prevented a disaster! For that, they should be thanking me!” Jiang Tiancheng laughed.

After a brief pause, he hesitated before asking the question that had been bothering him,

“Brother Fei, after rescuing Yueyue, I couldn’t help but wonder—given your success, you know how valuable the scar cream formula is and how much people want it. Why don’t you assign bodyguards to your wife and Yueyue for protection? If this had been a group of hardened criminals, Yueyue might’ve been in real danger!”

Hearing this, Shen Fei felt deeply guilty,

“That was my oversight! Thankfully, Yueyue is unharmed this time. But after today, I’ll assign bodyguards to both Han Xinyan and Yueyue.”

“Brother Fei, you should get yourself some bodyguards too!” Jiang Tiancheng added urgently.

Shen Fei nodded slightly in agreement.

Before the two could continue their conversation, two familiar figures appeared in the living room.

Along with the female officer, Captain Zhong Qi had arrived.

Seeing the two men, Zhong Qi strode toward the balcony,

“How’s the child? Is she okay?”

“She’s fine, all thanks to Tiancheng!” Shen Fei said with a smile.

Hearing this, Zhong Qi looked at Jiang Tiancheng in surprise,

“Jiang, I didn’t expect you to be far more capable than I thought!”

“Huh? Captain Zhong, you make it sound like I’m usually too low-profile! But compared to you, I just happen to know a few more people on both sides of the law—nothing impressive!” Jiang Tiancheng said humbly.

However, Zhong Qi frowned at his words,

“Jiang, if you had information, why didn’t you report it to the police first? That was too risky! I understand you wanted to save the child, but what if you provoked the kidnappers into doing something desperate?”

Though he said this, Zhong Qi also knew that Jiang Tiancheng’s methods likely weren’t above board.

While such tactics were effective at times, they could just as easily backfire if the criminals were pushed too far.

Over the course of his career, Zhong Qi had seen too many instances where similar approaches ended tragically.

Before Zhong Qi could say more, Jiang Tiancheng burst into laughter.

    —————- END —————-

    Chapter 304: Should You Resign?

“Captain Zhong, I think you’re overthinking this! I understand that the police handling things is much safer than us taking action privately. But I’m an adult, and I’m confident in what I do! Besides, if the police had stepped in, Yueyue might still be in the hands of those kidnappers right now!”

These words stunned Zhong Qi, leaving him unsure how to respond.

Before Zhong Qi could regain his composure, Jiang Tiancheng continued,

“I’m not saying the police are ineffective! But compared to us, you have to follow procedures. Any slight change requires reporting to superiors. The process is not only complicated but also delays action! Captain Zhong, don’t you agree? On the other hand, I have no such restrictions and can adapt quickly. That naturally makes me more efficient. In a situation like this, every extra minute Yueyue spent with those kidnappers increased her danger. What do you think?”

Jiang Tiancheng’s smooth words left Zhong Qi momentarily speechless.

After regaining his composure, he realized Jiang Tiancheng had a valid point.

The police process often is cumbersome.

Seeing Zhong Qi hesitating, Shen Fei quickly stepped in to ease the tension,

“Captain Zhong, Yueyue is safe and sound at home now, so let’s not dwell on this any further. Tiancheng already had the kidnappers captured! They’re being held at the abandoned construction site on the south end of Xiuchang Road. You can decide how to handle them.”

    “Alright, I got it.”

Zhong Qi nodded and pulled out his phone. After getting the exact location from Jiang Tiancheng and sending officers to the site, he looked back at Jiang Tiancheng,

“Mr. Jiang, can you share how you managed to get the kidnappers to release the child so willingly?”

Seeing Jiang Tiancheng frown slightly, Zhong Qi quickly added,

“Hey, I don’t mean anything by it. I’m just curious!”

“Pfft, how else? Threats and bluffing, of course! They’re not completely heartless—everyone has a family. A little intimidation, and they get scared.”

Jiang Tiancheng paused, giving Zhong Qi a half-smile,

“Captain Zhong, you’re not going to charge me with intimidation now, are you? There’s no reasoning with people like that. Honestly, I was kind enough to only use their families as a bluff to scare them!”

Hearing this, Zhong Qi’s mouth twitched slightly.

Jiang Tiancheng’s methods were undeniably effective—certainly faster than theirs!

Besides, the police wouldn’t dare use such intimidation tactics.

“Mr. Jiang, aren’t you worried that Old Secretary Jiang might blame you if he finds out about this?” Zhong Qi asked again.

“How could he? My grandfather specifically told me to use all my resources to help Brother Fei find the child as soon as possible! Not only will he not blame me, but he might even praise me!” Jiang Tiancheng replied calmly.

Such a simple statement left Zhong Qi visibly stunned.

Even Old Master Jiang himself was willing to go to such lengths to help Shen Fei?

    How could this be?

Did Shen Fei now hold such an important position in the old man’s eyes?

Realizing this, Zhong Qi’s gaze toward Shen Fei shifted, becoming more thoughtful.

Shen Fei noticed but remained calm,

“Captain Zhong, I have a favor to ask.”

“Mr. Shen, feel free to say it!” Zhong Qi replied.

“After this incident, I want to hire bodyguards for my wife and child. Captain Zhong, you’re well-connected and likely know trustworthy people, right? Could you introduce a few? It’d save me a lot of trouble.” Shen Fei said with a smile.

    “I see.”

    Zhong Qi nodded,

    “I can do that!”

“If something like this happens again, I’m afraid I might not get through it.” Shen Fei added seriously.

“I understand. I have a good candidate in mind. One of my friends took the blame for a hostage’s death during an operation gone wrong, even though it wasn’t his fault. He’s a solid guy. If you’re interested, I can introduce him. Whether he’s willing to take the job is another matter, though.” Zhong Qi said earnestly.

Zhong Qi rarely made such offers, but Shen Fei had once saved his life. This was his way of returning the favor.

“Great! When do you think you can reach out to him? The sooner, the better.” Shen Fei urged.

“Got it! If he agrees, I’ll send him to meet you directly.” Zhong Qi confirmed.

    “Thank you, Captain Zhong!”

Shen Fei was always grateful to those who sincerely helped him.

“No need for thanks—that’d make us strangers! Alright, I won’t delay any longer. I need to follow up on the kidnappers.”

After bidding farewell to Shen Fei and Jiang Tiancheng, Zhong Qi turned to leave.

Just a few steps out, he turned back,

“By the way, Mr. Shen, this situation is unpredictable. People like you—wealthy and successful—are always prime targets for criminals. Even if my friend declines, you need to make arrangements quickly.”

“I understand! So, Captain Zhong, do you want to quit your job and work for me instead?” Shen Fei teased.

    Zhong Qi laughed heartily,

“Sure, Mr. Shen! Just talk to the provincial director—if he lets me go, I’ll apply to your company the next second!”

With that, Zhong Qi waved and strode confidently out of the house.

“Brother Fei, do you need my help with this?”

Once Zhong Qi left, Jiang Tiancheng spoke up.

“Huh? You have contacts?” Shen Fei asked curiously.

“Of course! You’ve never mentioned it before, so I assumed you already had this covered. Now I see you don’t! I’ve got some good candidates. If you need them, I can arrange for you to meet and interview them tomorrow. Also, for your wife, I think it’s better to assign female bodyguards.” Jiang Tiancheng suggested thoughtfully.

“Alright, go ahead and contact them.”

Shen Fei’s mind raced with ideas.

“Will do! It’s getting late—I’ll head home now and follow up tomorrow.”

With that, Jiang Tiancheng left the Shen household in quick strides.

    Chapter 305: A Two-Million Annual Salary?

    The night grew deeper.

The bedroom door was gently pushed open.

Han Xinyan, who should have been sleeping with her daughter, quietly entered the master bedroom.

At that moment, Shen Fei was still wide awake. Feeling the light breeze from the window, his expression was calm.

Hearing the door, Shen Fei immediately snapped out of his thoughts and turned toward the door.

“Ah Yan? What are you doing here? Is Yueyue asleep?” Shen Fei asked with concern.

    “Yes, Yueyue is asleep.”

Han Xinyan walked over to Shen Fei, placing her hand on his shoulder.

    “Today was so terrifying… I can’t sleep.”

She sat beside Shen Fei as she spoke.

“Ah Yan, this is my fault! The issue with Old Tang should have been a warning for me. I was careless and put you in danger,” Shen Fei said, deeply guilty and regretful.

“Shen Fei, don’t think about it anymore. Isn’t Yueyue safe now?”

    Han Xinyan comforted him.

After a pause, she looked upset.

“Shen Fei, what should we do from now on? We used to be such ordinary people—things like kidnapping felt so far away from us. But now, because of the scar-removing ointment, we’ve become famous… This kind of thing really terrifies me! Once is already enough to break me. If it happens again and Yueyue gets hurt, I’ll never forgive myself!”

Tears streamed down Han Xinyan’s face, showing her genuine fear and concern.

Seeing her like this, Shen Fei’s heart ached. He gently wrapped his arm around her shoulder.

“It won’t happen again, Ah Yan! I promise this will never happen again. I’ll hire bodyguards and transfer Yueyue to a high-security kindergarten. Although Windmill Kindergarten is nice, its safety is too low!”

“Hmm… Then which kindergarten are you thinking of transferring her to?” Han Xinyan asked in confusion.

“We don’t need to worry about that right now. I’ll talk to Tiancheng and Yuantai tomorrow and have them look into it. Until the transfer happens, I’ll drive you and Yueyue myself.” Shen Fei said.

    Shen Fei had realized something.

Today’s kidnapping hadn’t left a psychological scar on Yueyue; Jiang Tiancheng had helped her process it well.

But Han Xinyan, on the other hand, had been deeply shaken and might not dare to drive for a while.

“Alright,” Han Xinyan whispered, feeling embarrassed that Shen Fei had seen through her anxiety.

“For now, we’ll stick to this plan. Once we find suitable bodyguards, we can adjust things.”

Seeing Han Xinyan still lost in thought, Shen Fei gently patted her head.

“It’s late now. You should go back to sleep. If Yueyue wakes up and doesn’t see you, she’ll cry again. This experience has taught us a lesson—there’s no need to overthink things, alright?”

Han Xinyan knew Shen Fei was comforting her, and warmth surged through her heart.

She nodded softly and said, “Alright, I understand.”

Holding back her tears, she stood up and left the room.

Shen Fei turned his gaze back to the night outside, his mind swirling with countless thoughts.

That night, Shen Fei thought about many things.

The only comforting part was that Yueyue had slept soundly, treating the whole ordeal like a test where she proved herself the bravest.

    The next morning.

Although Shen Fei had decided to transfer Shen Jiayue to a new kindergarten, he still brought her to Windmill Kindergarten that day.

With the immediate crisis resolved, Yueyue was safe for the time being.

    At Xinyue Group.

Shen Fei and Han Xinyan appeared at the company together.

Seeing them, the employees greeted them respectfully but were also filled with questions.

After all, the news of Shen Fei’s daughter being kidnapped had spread through the company. The fact that the kidnappers had even called the company hotline and Shen Fei had shown up with police officers had made it clear how troublesome the situation was.

Most employees had assumed Shen Fei and Han Xinyan wouldn’t come to work today. Yet not only did they show up, but they were smiling calmly.

Could it be that the incident was already resolved?

Or had the matter been handled so perfectly that Shen Fei’s daughter was safely rescued?

As Shen Fei and Han Xinyan chatted and walked into the office, Shen Fei’s phone suddenly vibrated.

The caller ID displayed Zhong Qi’s name.

“Captain Zhong, you’re up early to check on me, huh?” Shen Fei teased as he slumped onto the sofa.

“Come on, President Shen, it’s just me showing some concern.”

After a pause, Zhong Qi got to the point.

“By the way, how’s the little girl? Was she frightened last night?”

“Thank you for asking, Captain Zhong. She slept quite soundly last night.” Shen Fei replied.

Hearing this, Zhong Qi sighed in relief, then chuckled helplessly.

“President Shen, in that case, I’ll get straight to the point. Please remind Mr. Jiang to think things through before taking action next time! He had his people beat up the four kidnappers so badly they were half-dead, then buried them in a field like they were crops! Those kidnappers may be criminals, but they’re still human. Now they’re suing Mr. Jiang from the perspective of being ‘victims.’ What a mess! While Mr. Jiang’s methods were effective, the most he’ll get is verbal praise—no commendation ceremony for this one.”

Shen Fei was speechless for a moment but understood Jiang Tiancheng’s intentions. He said softly, “Alright, but Tiancheng meant well. His intentions were good.”

Then Shen Fei quickly asked, “Captain Zhong, I don’t think you called just for this. What did your friend say?”

“I was just about to tell you!” Zhong Qi said.

“He agreed to meet you. He’s on the earliest high-speed train today. Where do you want to meet him?”

“Have him come to Xinyue Group. I’m here now.” Shen Fei replied.

“Alright, President Shen. I’ll let him know. But I’ll warn you now—this friend of mine is a man of few words. He’s trustworthy and skilled, but he’s also a bit arrogant. I hope you’ll understand.” Zhong Qi said.

“No problem. Thank you, Captain Zhong!” Shen Fei replied gratefully.

“Don’t mention it! You’re helping my friend out, too. He’s been in a slump ever since that incident…” Zhong Qi sighed before changing the subject.

“Alright, President Shen, I’ll stop here. I’ll inform my friend to head to you now.”

With that, Zhong Qi ended the call.

Shen Fei immediately called the reception desk to make arrangements.

    Half an hour later.

A man with a buzz cut and a backpack walked into Xinyue Group’s lobby.

After confirming his identity, the receptionist led him to Shen Fei’s office.

“President Shen?” The buzz-cut man looked calm but slightly puzzled.

“Yes. How should I address you?” Shen Fei asked.

“Deng Xin,” the man replied curtly, then fell silent.

“Alright, Deng Xin. Captain Zhong should have briefed you on the situation. I trust Zhong Qi, and I trust you. How does an annual salary of two million sound?” Shen Fei asked directly.

“Two million?” Deng Xin looked startled.

“What? Is that too little?” Shen Fei raised an eyebrow.

“No, no, that’s already a high offer! But I’d like to advance six months’ salary—would you agree to that?” Deng Xin asked quickly.
