Chapter 111: The Courage from the Second Generation!

    “Fei Ge!!!”

When the group saw Shen Fei in the interrogation room, the heavy expressions on their faces disappeared, replaced by joy. They rushed toward him, eager to greet him.

This action completely puzzled Zhong Qi.

What did these second-generation people just call this gambler? Fei Ge?

But according to his investigation, this person was nothing more than a hopeless gambler who couldn’t even pay off his high-interest loans!

Yet now, he was being respected like this by a group of second-generation heirs.

Even the grandson of the former city party official, Jiang Anbang, though not exactly arrogant, was definitely not someone easy to deal with.

But now, Jiang Tiancheng was smiling like a flower in front of Shen Fei.

    This scene was truly surreal.

As his mind raced, Zhong Qi, before Shen Fei could speak, jokingly muttered to himself,

“You guys, with all this enthusiasm, it’s as if I bullied Mr. Shen!”

“Captain Zhong, if you wanted to investigate, you could have told us! We were all in the same hall last night. If there were any issues, you should have asked us together! Isn’t this class discrimination?” Jiang Tiancheng joked.

“Stop, stop, stop! What class discrimination? Don’t put words in my mouth! I brought Mr. Shen here to ask about what happened last night,” Zhong Qi quickly waved his hand and shot a glare at the group of second-generation heirs. After a pause, he continued, “Why are you all so eager? Once I finish questioning Shen Fei, it’s your turn. This is perfect; I don’t have to call each of you individually! Now that you’re here, we can continue with the questioning. Tell me, what happened last night?”

Zhong Qi began observing their expressions closely.

In truth, this step wasn’t even necessary.

These second-generation heirs had powerful backers. Once their connections were involved, those behind them would surely stand up to protect them.

At that point, not only would nothing be uncovered, but it would also be a waste of time.

    This was a thankless task.

But now things were different. These second-generation heirs had come to him willingly, and they’d even slapped him with a class discrimination accusation.

If he didn’t conduct a proper interrogation, wouldn’t he be proving the accusation right?

Without hesitation, Zhong Qi followed procedure and asked them a series of questions.

After a while, he calmly said, “Alright! Now I understand everything. You can go.”

“Captain Zhong, no problems? I think this is just a waste of time. We left the Junyue Pavilion a long time ago, and anything that happened, we only learned about later!” Jiang Tiancheng complained.

“Hah, yeah! If not, you wouldn’t be sitting here safely now, and you might not even make it to a hospital bed!” Zhong Qi chuckled at the complaint.

At his words, the second-generation heirs’ faces turned pale, and their expressions lost all color. They clearly recalled the bloody scenes in those photographs.

Zhong Qi could understand that. After all, these pampered young masters probably hadn’t seen much violence, let alone a real killing.

What’s worse, the bloodied figures in those photos were still living people!

“Alright, hurry up and leave! This isn’t a rest stop!” Zhong Qi cut off their thoughts, pushing them out of the interrogation room.

Just as the group was about to exit, Shen Fei suddenly stopped.

Turning toward Zhong Qi, he spoke, “Captain Zhong…”

Zhong Qi, hearing this, looked at Shen Fei in confusion. Seeing that Shen Fei seemed hesitant, he chuckled, “Mr. Shen, you’re not going to tell me that you predicted I’d be in trouble too, are you?”

“…Captain Zhong, you were right! I sense dark clouds over your head. It feels like the city is about to collapse under a storm!” Shen Fei said seriously.

    Zhong Qi was speechless.

This guy actually thought of himself as a fortune-teller.

Could he be like Jia Tong?

Jia Tong was just a madman who brought his own downfall.

But Zhong Qi was the police captain, a man who always acted with integrity.

How could someone like him ever get into trouble?

However, instead of mocking Shen Fei directly, Zhong Qi raised an eyebrow and teased, “Mr. Shen, please tell me more.”

“Well, Captain Zhong, remember to wear a bulletproof vest when things get dangerous!” Shen Fei said.

Zhong Qi, already not believing in such things, felt even more dismissive after hearing Shen Fei’s words.

The “I Ching” and “Ba Gua” were just tools to comfort those who sought reassurance.

“Captain Zhong, it’s only about a week. You should be cautious during this time,” Shen Fei kindly reminded.

    Zhong Qi was stunned.

He hadn’t expected Shen Fei to provide such a specific timeframe.

Smirking, Zhong Qi looked at Shen Fei with complete seriousness and said, “Mr. Shen, your prediction about Jia Tong is just a lucky guess! I don’t believe in ghosts or gods. Please don’t joke with me. Now, please leave!”

    Hearing this, Shen Fei shrugged.

He had no interest in interfering further.

But since Zhong Qi was a good man, Shen Fei didn’t want to see someone like him fall.

So he gave a kind reminder.

However, since Zhong Qi didn’t believe, there was nothing more he could do.

Nodding at Zhong Qi in apology, Shen Fei was the first to leave the interrogation room.

“Captain Zhong, whether you believe it or not, it’s up to you! But I suggest you be careful! It’s always good to stay vigilant!” Jiang Tiancheng, who had been watching the scene, hurriedly warned after Shen Fei left.

With that, he quickly followed Shen Fei and the others.

Zhong Qi, however, stood there in a daze.

He watched the group leave, chuckling bitterly, but he didn’t take their words to heart.

“You guys showed up? What trouble could I possibly get into here?” Shen Fei laughed as the group surrounded him.

Although he said this, he felt a deep warmth inside.

“We’re just worried you might get into trouble, Fei Ge!” Jiang Tiancheng said in a low voice.

“Yeah! Fei Ge, thanks to your reminder, we would have been in the hospital if we hadn’t listened!” Jin Liyao added, still feeling lingering fear.

“Exactly! Even though we’re not big shots, just standing here with you gives us courage. No one would dare accuse you wrongly!” Zhou Zhengji quickly added.

“Fei Ge, what did Captain Zhong ask you about?” the usually composed Hu Yuntai asked, voicing his concern.

“Nothing much, someone told them Jia Tong spat on me, and I said Jia Tong would get into trouble, so they just wanted to ask me what happened,” Shen Fei explained carefully.

As soon as he finished, the second-generation heirs became anxious.

“Damn it, who said that!” Jiang Tiancheng growled.

“Fei Ge, I never told anyone about that!” Jin Liyao quickly responded.

    “Me neither!” Zhou Zhengji added.

“This doesn’t look like something we said! Clearly, someone is causing trouble for Fei Ge!” Hu Yuntai laughed helplessly.
