Chapter 182: The Mountain of Spiritual Snake Meat

The handwritten books on the shelves were visibly decreasing.

Yan Yu’s heart gradually calmed down, no longer beating as fast as before.

With Sanbao around, she could afford to divide her attention to the shelves and finally see what new items had been stocked.

    Oh my god!!!

    They were vegetable seeds!

Yan Yu’s small hands moved swiftly, clearing out all the vegetable seeds in a few quick taps.

See what they were? No need!

    Just buy them all!

When the timer in the top left corner hit 20 minutes, the Free Market icon flashed again.

Yan Yu thought to herself: Just as she expected.

Although her available time had been reduced, the system still connected three users at a time.

That meant an average of ten minutes per person.

She touched a tree while contemplating.

After making her decision, she opened the Free Market.

Before she even got a good look at the person on the other end, she started blurting out, “I’m trying to clear the shelves before my balance runs out. Time is tight! Tell me what you want, quick!”

Only after speaking did she realize—it was the celestial fairy sister who hadn’t been matched with her for a while.

All platform users had received the system announcement, and even the ethereal-looking woman seemed a bit anxious. “Everything edible on your shelves—trade me whatever you can. I still have snake meat on my end.”

Yan Yu quickly made a request: “Chop off the heads, skin them, and cut them into pieces. I’ll switch screens and be right back.”

The other party responded even faster than she did: “No problem, I’ll wait.”

From the corner of her eye, Yan Yu thought she saw a gleaming greatsword suddenly appear in the fairy sister’s hands, flashing chaotically across the screen…

What a pity, no time to admire it.

She told Sanbao to pause for a moment.

First, she emptied the shelves of eggs and frozen meat.

Eggs and frozen meat chunks appeared on the ground.

Surprisingly, the fruit and vegetable shelves were restocked!

    Green beans, eggplants, potatoes, lettuce.

    Buy! Buy! Buy!

Then she quickly grabbed an iron pot, wooden bowls, ceramic bowls, ceramic basins, a kitchen knife, and scissors.

With bowls and basins to hold things, she started buying seasonings and grains.

Soy sauce and vinegar, being liquids, went straight into the bowls.

Only part of the grains could fit into the iron pot and ceramic basin—the rest lay quietly on the ground.

No time to dwell on it, Yan Yu swiftly reopened the Free Market.

The two of them traded at lightning speed.

Yan Yu didn’t hold anything back, trading everything over.

The fairy sister was equally efficient—who knew how many giant snakes she had processed, stacking the meat into a literal mountain.

It took three consecutive transactions to barely transfer it all.

Yan Yu looked at the significantly shrunken pile of meat on the ground and thought: This must be the transaction limit.

Sanbao was still following its set pattern, continuously wreaking havoc on the same patch of trees.

Yan Lao’er, seeing the torchlight stop moving, hurried over.

He arrived just in time to see the mountain of meat appear out of thin air, giving him a big scare.

Yan Yu, noticing her father’s arrival, closed the communication and resumed selling trees.

Yan Lao’er stood by the neatly chopped meat pile, unsure what to do.

Judging by the texture and smell, it was undoubtedly the fairy sister’s snake meat that his daughter had mentioned.

But… there was just too much of it!

Wait, no—Sanbao can turn it into jerky first to compress the volume. Then, Aunt Rong can take it home for storage.

Their family technically owned private property now.

But Aunt Rong’s house… they needed to build her a proper one soon.

Having exchanged for a whole mountain of spiritual snake meat, Yan Yu was exhilarated.

She ran circles around the meat pile in excitement.

Then she glanced at the store shelves—huh?

    A new shelf had appeared!

    Yan Yu focused her gaze.

Once again, she was moved by the system.

    Boohoohoo! So thoughtful!

It had scanned the area, detected the presence of a river and fish, and even provided a large fishing net!

    Buy it!

    Yan Yu didn’t hesitate.

    The Final 10 Minutes

    Yan Yu felt torn.

She still hadn’t bought enough handwritten books.

Even though she moved fast on Sanbao, time was just too short.

Buying one handwritten book required touching about ten trees.

If she focused solely on selling trees, 30 minutes would be enough.

But connecting with Free Market users was just as important—every connection was invaluable.

Especially after today’s system announcement, Yan Yu knew she had to buy as much as possible from the store shelves. She was sure others would do the same.

This was driven by a deep sense of unease and crisis within everyone.

She wasn’t great at assessing the environment.

Especially the danger rating—her transmigrated setting was classified as “medium danger,” but she couldn’t understand why.

Time ticked by, second by second.

The Free Market icon didn’t flash.

    Yan Yu had mixed feelings.

Had she landed in an empty time slot? Or was the other person, like her, busy wrestling with the store shelves?

Maybe she had been staring at it too eagerly.

    Because suddenly… the icon flashed!

    Connection established!

Yan Yu smoothly started her usual line: “I’m saving up balance—”

    Then she stopped mid-sentence.

    She saw clearly now.

It was the young man from the post-apocalyptic world.

The last time they met, his battle-worn figure had left a deep impression in her mind.

Along with the blood and mutant beasts…

    That was a terrifying world.

One could imagine how desperately humanity was fighting for survival.

The future, tomorrow, even the next moment…

Too much danger, too much uncertainty.

“Big brother, you’re injured.” Yan Yu didn’t phrase it as a question—it was a statement.

Last time, he had been covered in blood, but still looked incredibly cool.

Though weak and exhausted, he had still been fine.

“Medicine…” He barely managed to utter a single word.

Yan Yu yanked the reins—Sanbao came to a halt, digging its front hooves deep into the ground for stability.

“Sanbao, turn back! Find my dad!”

If she wasn’t mistaken, the young man had external injuries, but also seemed to have a fever.

She didn’t want to look too closely, but she had to.

His clothes could barely be called clothing anymore—just scraps of fabric.

His chest and abdomen were soaked in blood, with suspicious burn marks…

Yan Yu spoke rapidly: “I have medicine—fever reducers, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, I’ll give you all of them. What do you have to trade?”

It wasn’t that she was cold-hearted—the platform required an exchange for the medicine to transfer over.

“Your… potions.” The young man struggled to say.

Yan Yu’s heart clenched, an inexplicable urge to cry welling up.

“Those must be really valuable. I just got spiritual snake meat from the cultivation world. Eating it can strengthen the body—it’s not very potent, but much better than ordinary food. I’ve eaten it myself, and it restores stamina. It’ll be good for you. I have lots and lots of it! Big brother, I’ll trade you extra, plenty of it, so you… hang in there!”

The young man gave her a faint smile.

Yan Yu’s nose tingled—she quickly lifted her head, her bright voice traveling across the invisible connection.

“It’ll be super fast! I’m riding a titanium-alloy intelligent mechanical bionic ox! That’s its full name—cool, right? I’ll tell you all about it later. Its name is Sanbao, super obedient and awesome! Big brother—”

The young man seemed to summon a bit more strength and weakly said, “Don’t worry… I’m… fine…”
