Chapter 232: Is He Pretending to Be Weak?

Upon hearing this, Qian Dasheng was shocked.

Did he hear that right? Shen Fei actually possessed a Z.G.C Restaurant Peony Card!

Even though Qian Dasheng had only been to Z.G.C a few times, he understood what the prestigious Peony Card represented.

Especially since, across the entire nation, fewer than eight people even held this card.

    Yet Shen Fei owned one.

Could Shen Fei actually have a hidden, powerful background?

“Are you sure about this?” Qian Dasheng asked in disbelief.

“Yes! I personally asked the waiter! Judging by Shen Fei’s familiarity with the place, he must go there often. This claim is trustworthy,” Jiang Rou explained.

    “How is that possible?”

Qian Dasheng was even more astonished.

“Chairman Qian, I can’t figure it out either! Besides, during the incident at Li’s Village, we investigated Shen Fei’s background, and he was nothing but a nobody! But now, every single thing happening seems impossible for the person we investigated. And now, this Peony Card? Do you really think Shen Fei is as simple as the information we found?” Jiang Rou voiced her doubts.

“Do you think he is? Look, let’s be realistic. That Shen Fei in our records wouldn’t even qualify to walk through Chengyou Tech’s front door, let alone have a close relationship with its CEO Jiang Tiancheng. And even old Master Jiang made an exception to back Shen Fei’s Scar Healing Cream development…”

When Qian Dasheng pieced everything together aloud, it finally dawned on him that something was off.

Frowning, he couldn’t comprehend what Shen Fei had experienced to undergo such a drastic transformation.

“Chairman Qian, could the information we found be a cover? What if he’s deliberately hiding his real strength? You know, in novels, this is classic ‘pretending to be weak to strike later’ behavior!” Jiang Rou speculated uncertainly.

Images of Shen Fei’s confident and unwavering demeanor in the restaurant flashed through Jiang Rou’s mind.

This alone was enough to make her reconsider Shen Fei in a new light.

At the very least, he wasn’t as simple as he appeared.

“From now on, we need to take Shen Fei much more seriously,” Qian Dasheng said helplessly.

If Shen Fei overheard this conversation, he’d probably burst out laughing.

Why would he need to pretend to be weak?

All he was doing was methodically rebuilding the commercial empire he had in his previous life.

After parting with Jiang Rou, Shen Fei didn’t plan to head straight home or to his company.

Instead, he drove to Deep City No.1 High School.

Stopping by a nearby supermarket, he bought several boxes of apples, a few bottles of premium wine, and the hottest-selling product recently—the largest version of the Scar Healing Cream. Then, he slowly drove to the school’s entrance.

After waiting for a while with no response, Shen Fei had no choice but to step out of his car.

“Young man, can’t you see the sign? Outsiders aren’t allowed to drive into the school!” a gatekeeper barked.

“Uncle Yu, no need to be so formal! Think of me as attending a school meeting. Just let me in!” Shen Fei said with a light smile.

    Uncle Yu.

Back when Shen Fei attended this middle school, Uncle Yu had already been working at No.1 High School for five or six years.

Now, nearly a decade after Shen Fei’s graduation, Uncle Yu was still here.

“Huh? You called me Uncle Yu? Do I know you?”

Uncle Yu looked at Shen Fei in surprise, scrutinizing him before exclaiming in recognition, “Wait a second… Shen Fei?!”

The moment he said that, Uncle Yu rushed excitedly out of the guardhouse to examine Shen Fei up close.

“Is it really you, Shen Fei?”

Uncle Yu had a deep impression of Shen Fei. Back then, Shen Fei’s class teacher had explained his circumstances to him. Knowing that Shen Fei had no parents, Uncle Yu had felt both pity and affection for the boy.

“Uncle Yu, I didn’t expect you to still remember me!” Shen Fei said warmly.

“How could I forget you, kid? I’ve seen so many students, but I’d never forget you!”

Uncle Yu’s wrinkled face beamed with joy.

Glancing at Shen Fei’s car, he said in surprise, “Wow! Is that your car? Impressive! You’ve really made something of yourself! I always knew you were a kid with good fortune. You’ve finally made it—now you can enjoy life!”

Tears glistened in Uncle Yu’s eyes as he held Shen Fei’s hand tightly.

    “Good… you’re such a good kid… really good!”

“Uncle Yu, you’ve hit the nail on the head! With your talent, you should’ve gone into fortune-telling instead of guarding the school gate!” Shen Fei teased, patting Uncle Yu’s shoulder.

“Uncle Yu, let me grab something from the car.”

He opened the trunk and pulled out a box of fruit, a box of milk, and a bottle of premium wine.

“I wasn’t well-prepared since I decided to come here last minute, but it’s a little token for you. Please take it!”

    Shen Fei smiled.

“You brat, don’t act like a stranger!” Uncle Yu said, hurriedly waving him off.

“Just accept it, Uncle Yu! Consider it a bribe for letting me in!” Shen Fei joked as he carried the items into the guardhouse.

“You’re the only one who’d need a bribe to get in! Do I stop anyone else? Go on in and visit your teachers!” Uncle Yu chuckled, pressing the gate button.

“Thanks, Uncle Yu. I’ll head in now!” Shen Fei said, nodding before driving into the campus.

Once inside, Shen Fei parked near the teachers’ apartments. He carried the gifts and a few jars of Scar Healing Cream to the familiar fourth floor, stopping at Room 402.

He knocked gently on the door.

A voice called, “Coming!” before the door opened.

The woman standing there looked stunned when she saw Shen Fei.

“Ma’am, long time no see!” Shen Fei greeted with a smile.

The woman immediately turned and called into the house, “Old Deng! Old Deng! Come quickly!”

“What is it? What now?” A gruff voice replied before a middle-aged man emerged.

When he saw Shen Fei, his eyes lit up in surprise.

“Shen Fei? You’re here! Why didn’t you call in advance? We could’ve prepared your favorite dishes!” Deng Jianming said with a big smile.

“It was a last-minute decision!” Shen Fei explained.

“Ma’am, you don’t look too happy to see me!” he teased.

“You brat! You think I wouldn’t be happy? Get inside! I’ll make you your favorite dishes today. Look at you—so thin!” she scolded cheerfully, pulling Shen Fei into the house.
