Chapter 131: Return the Object to Its Original Owner!

Upon hearing the purpose of Shen Fei’s visit, Huang Jing’s gaze showed a hint of evaluation.

As the president of Wanze Group, no one knew those three pieces of antiques better than him.

At the seventh round of the traveling auction, no one bid on them.

Today, at the eighth round, he finally heard the good news that someone had bought them.

To his surprise, the buyers were the two people standing in front of him.

But “return the object to its original owner”—what exactly did that mean?

“Mr. Shen, forgive my ignorance, but what are you trying to say? As you know, once something is auctioned off, it cannot be returned!” Huang Jing’s expression darkened.

“President Huang, I naturally understand the rules! The reason I said that is because these three items are of immense value… how about this: could you call in your company’s antiques appraisal experts? Then you’ll understand what I mean!” Shen Fei said mysteriously.

“This…” Huang Jing was confused. What was going on?

Not just Huang Jing, even Jiang Tiancheng didn’t understand Shen Fei’s move.

“President Huang, just follow through and you’ll see why this is happening! I guarantee it will be worth it!” Shen Fei smiled.

Upon hearing this, Huang Jing furrowed his brows.

He looked at Jiang Tiancheng and, after a moment’s hesitation, gritted his teeth and said, “Fine, I hope you’re not playing me.”

After speaking, Huang Jing took out his phone and made a call.

Soon, several middle-aged experts gathered in the office.

“President Huang, you called us here for what?”

One of the experts asked, puzzled.

Huang Jing directly looked at Shen Fei, “These are the antique appraisal experts. What should we do next?”

Shen Fei didn’t answer but instead grabbed a bag and went to a nearby table.

He then pulled out something wrapped in red cloth.

“Isn’t this the Jade Pig-Dragon from the Warring States period?”

“Yes, I heard from the auction that this piece was bought today. Why is it here again?”

“Could it be that the auction buyer is this young man? But why is it back with us? What does this mean?”

Upon hearing the whispers of the experts, Shen Fei smiled slightly.

“Everyone, wait a moment. This is indeed the Jade Pig-Dragon from the Warring States period, but there’s more to it!”

He then looked at Huang Jing and asked, “President Huang, could you provide some tweezers and a bowl of water?”

    “Sure!”

Although Huang Jing was full of questions, he still nodded.

Once the items were provided, Shen Fei looked at Jiang Tiancheng.

“Tiancheng, would you mind if I make a few marks on it?”

“Go ahead, Brother Fei! Even if you break it, I won’t say a word!”

Even though he didn’t understand Shen Fei’s intentions, Jiang Tiancheng trusted him completely.

    “Good!”

    Shen Fei nodded slightly.

As everyone watched in confusion, he took the tweezers and gently scratched the Jade Pig-Dragon with them.

He then dipped the tweezers in the water bowl.

“Young man, what are you doing?”

“This is a priceless jade artifact from the Warring States period!”

“Stop! If you damage it, this jade artifact will be worthless!”

The antique experts, upon seeing Shen Fei’s actions, immediately shouted in alarm.

Even Huang Jing, who had seen countless precious antiques, was shocked and stared at Shen Fei.

He couldn’t figure out what Shen Fei was doing.

Though this piece could be bought for hundreds of thousands, it still held collectible value.

Ignoring the murmurs from the experts, Shen Fei continued his actions, moving the water-dipped tweezers back and forth on the Jade Pig-Dragon.

Soon, the jade was covered with water droplets.

At that moment, tiny wrinkles appeared on the surface of the jade, and the wrinkles faintly whitened.

    “Tsk?”

    The appraisers gasped softly.

Each of them looked more serious.

The wrinkles clearly looked like they were covered in Xuan paper.

Could it be that this Jade Pig-Dragon wasn’t originally a Jade Pig-Dragon, but another artifact disguised as one by Xuan paper?

But when they had appraised it earlier, they had all said it was from the Warring States period!

For a moment, everyone was lost in thought.

Shen Fei didn’t care what they thought. He silently peeled off the layers of Xuan paper from the artifact.

The paper fluttered and fell away, revealing a faint green hue beneath.

After twenty minutes, Shen Fei finally removed all five layers of thin Xuan paper.

A complete golden Jade Pig-Dragon was now displayed before everyone.

No longer was there any doubt about whether it was from the Warring States period.

Even in today’s world, such a large piece of gold would be worth a significant sum.

    “This…”

“How could this be? I spent several days researching it!”

“I didn’t expect the outer layer to be a disguise! So this is the true form of the artifact?”

“My God, no wonder I always thought something about this piece looked strange!”

Everyone was shocked, covering their mouths in disbelief.

    Especially the antique experts.

“Brother Fei, how is this possible?” Jiang Tiancheng quickly turned his head, eager for an explanation from Shen Fei.

“In the Warring States period, gold was used as a currency. It was typically produced in the Chu state, and the Jade Pig-Dragon was one of the most common jade artifacts of that time. However, no one had ever been bold enough to create a Jade Pig-Dragon entirely from gold!”

“A noble, out of curiosity, made a few of these. When he found trustworthy subordinates, he would gift them one. But because this practice was seen as highly improper at the time, a well-intentioned person reported the noble, and these gold Jade Pig-Dragons became rare treasures! They were later wrapped in Xuan paper by the descendants of those who still cherished them.”

“Of course, this is just hearsay. But when I saw the unnatural shine on this piece, I wanted to confirm my guess. And as I expected, I was right!”

    Shen Fei explained at length.

The speculations about these antiques were taken directly from the great antique appraisers of the past.

Shen Fei simply repeated their words.

After hearing this, everyone stood frozen.

“So you told us all this, and now you want to sell the Jade Pig-Dragon back to our Wanze Group?” Huang Jing asked, his voice filled with surprise.
