    Chapter 22: Building Employee Dormitories

“That’s right. If Manager Li hasn’t chosen a company yet, our workshop can first make a sample garment for you. It should be ready by tomorrow. What do you think?”

Wei Yan spoke seriously. He couldn’t afford to miss such a good opportunity.

“No problem, but the quality must be up to standard.”

“Rest assured, Manager Li. Our workshop uses only top-quality materials, so there will be no issues with quality.”

    “Alright.”

Li Maode enthusiastically escorted Wei Yan to the office door.

    Afternoon

Shen Rou finished preparing the documents for the five types of social insurance. She took the employees’ materials and had Yang Dahai drive her to the social security office to set up accounts.

Since the customized computers hadn’t arrived yet, Chen Mo could only pass the time scrolling through his phone.

    Knock, knock, knock!

The office door was knocked on.

Chen Mo responded, and Wei Yan pushed the door open and walked in.

“Boss Chen, here is the layout of the industrial park, showing the idle workshops.”

As he spoke, Wei Yan marked the vacant workshops on the blueprint.

Chen Mo glanced at it and saw that these empty workshops were not far from the current one. The farthest was only about 200 meters away.

“Not bad. Have you discussed the price?”

The workshop itself wasn’t the main concern; what mattered was how much rent he had to pay.

“Not yet. If Boss Chen is interested, we can negotiate in person tomorrow.”

    “Alright, let’s meet tomorrow then.”

Chen Mo nodded, and Wei Yan exited the office.

Near the End of the Workday

Shen Rou returned to the company after completing her tasks.

Chen Mo didn’t linger at the office. He had Yang Dahai drive him home, taking Shen Rou along.

“Boss Chen, you can drop me off here.”

At a subway entrance, Shen Rou quickly spoke up.

This subway station was just one stop away from her part-time job, and she didn’t want to delay Boss Chen any further.

    “Thank you, Boss Chen.”

As she got out of the car, Shen Rou thanked him again.

“Boss Chen, are we heading straight home?”

As Yang Dahai started the car, he asked.

    “Yeah, home.”

    Chen Mo nodded.

    At Home

“Dear, what do you think? The benefits are great, and they even provide insurance. This way, when we get old, we’ll have some security and can also ease the burden on our daughter.”

Sitting on the sofa, Yang Dahai told his wife, Dong Hong, about Chen Mo’s job offer for a chef.

“Isn’t ¥7,500 a bit much? My cooking skills are only so-so. It feels a bit unreal to be making that much.”

Dong Hong hesitated. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to take the job, but everything happened so suddenly that it felt surreal.

“Boss Chen himself said your cooking is delicious. If you’re worried, just put more effort into making the meals taste even better.”

    Yang Dahai reassured her.

“Alright, I’ll quit my job tomorrow then.”

Dong Hong made up her mind, then got up and headed to the kitchen, eager to test her skills.

“I’ll make a few dishes and send them upstairs to Boss Chen for him to try.”

Soon, the table was filled with delicious food.

    “Wow, so many dishes!”

Yang Duoduo, drawn by the aroma, ran out of her room. Seeing the spread, she couldn’t help but swallow her saliva.

She set her sights on the marinated chicken feet and reached out with her little hand to steal one.

“Did you wash your hands? Don’t just grab food with dirty hands.”

Before she could touch the chicken feet, a pair of chopsticks blocked her hand.

    “I’ll go wash them!”

Sticking out her tongue, Yang Duoduo ran to the bathroom.

When she came back, her mother handed her a bag.

“Take this to the upstairs brother. Be polite and don’t cause trouble.”

    “Okay!”

Carrying the bag with both hands, Yang Duoduo left the house and headed upstairs.

    Upstairs

Seeing the bag in Yang Duoduo’s hands, Chen Mo knew that dinner had been delivered again.

After thinking for a moment, he accepted it.

    “Thank you, Duoduo.”

He bent down, ruffled her little head, and spoke gently.

“No need to thank me. Because of you, I’ve been eating lots of meat!”

Yang Duoduo tilted her head and happily said.

She didn’t know exactly who this “big brother” was, but she could sense that the changes at home had a lot to do with this handsome guy in front of her.

“Brother, you have to eat well! I’m going back now.”

With that, her tiny body dashed downstairs as if something was pulling her away.

Watching her go, Chen Mo shook his head with a smile.

    The Next Day

At 10 a.m., inside the company.

Li Maode looked at the office furniture, his expression somewhat surprised.

He was very familiar with the brand of the desks and chairs—it was quite expensive.

He hadn’t expected such a small garment factory to be willing to spend so much on office furniture.

Not only that, but when he secretly checked the workshop earlier, he found that the entire workshop was equipped with air conditioning.

Installing air conditioning in a workshop? As far as he knew, in the entire industrial park, no other factory had done this.

    “Manager Li, have a seat.”

Seeing the bald man enter, Chen Mo greeted him.

“Boss Chen, you’re too polite. Have you decided which space you want to rent?”

Li Maode sat down and looked at the industrial park layout on the table.

Shen Rou timely placed a cup of water in front of him.

“What’s the price for these spaces?”

Chen Mo directly asked the most important question.

    “Oh, let me explain.”

Li Maode pointed at the marked locations on the layout and introduced them one by one.

“This one is the smallest, with a rent of ¥100,000. This slightly larger one is ¥130,000, and this one…”

After listening to the explanations, Chen Mo didn’t hesitate. He pointed directly at the most expensive space.

    “I’ll take this one.”

Not only was it the most expensive, but it was also the closest to the current workshop. Whether considering price or location, this was undoubtedly the best choice.

“This building has two floors, each with an area of 150 square meters. The annual rent is ¥200,000.”

“The minimum rental period is one year. Boss Chen, are you sure about this one?”

“Yes, I’ll rent it for two years. Did you bring the contract? We can sign it now.”

    Chen Mo nodded.

He had wanted to rent for a longer term, but the system only allowed a maximum of two years.

Two years it is. At least it’s ¥400,000.

“Yes, I have it right here!”

Li Maode was momentarily stunned. He hadn’t expected things to go so smoothly. Usually, when people rented workshops, they would haggle endlessly.

But this young boss didn’t even negotiate and chose right away.

This was beyond his expectations, but he quickly took out the contract from his briefcase and handed it over.

Soon, both parties signed the contract.

“If I may ask, is Boss Chen planning to expand production?”

After putting away the contract, Li Maode curiously asked.

“Oh, no, it’s for a company cafeteria.”

Chen Mo answered truthfully, then picked up his phone to transfer the money.

But just as he was about to do so, Li Maode suddenly stopped him.

“Boss Chen, you only need to transfer ¥330,000.”
