Make Money C23
by MarineTLChapter 23: Renting a Workshop and Landing an Order in the Process
“What do you mean?”
Chen Mo looked at Li Maode in confusion, suddenly feeling a bad premonition.
“It’s like this—our boss wants to order a batch of work uniforms. Yesterday, Wei Yan came to me, and we happened to discuss it.
“This morning, the sample uniforms were sent to me. I checked the workmanship and quality, and they were quite good, so I placed an order for a thousand sets. Each set costs 70, so the 70,000 deduction was for the uniforms.”
Li Maode said happily. Not only did he rent out a property, but he also completed a task assigned by his boss—today was truly his lucky day.
Wei Yan.
Again, it was Wei Yan.
Was this guy deliberately messing with him?
Could he fire him?
【Host, please note: As the boss, if you wish to dismiss an employee, you must provide a proper reason. Arbitrary dismissals are not appropriate.】
Listening to the system’s warning, Chen Mo sighed helplessly.
But to be fair, Wei Yan hadn’t done anything wrong. His intention was for the company’s benefit. If he were to fire him just because of this, he would feel guilty.
He couldn’t fire him,
But if he kept him, he would continue stirring up trouble.
Just inquiring about a rental property, and he ended up bringing in an order.
If he were actually sent out to do sales, who knew how many more orders he would bring back?
What a headache.
Still, if he couldn’t fire him, he should at least find a way to transfer him somewhere else.
Letting him stay in the sales department causing chaos was not an option. At worst, he could be moved to another position with a pay raise.
Chen Mo made a mental note of this.
“Mr. Chen, is something wrong?”
Shen Rou noticed Chen Mo’s unusual expression and quickly stepped forward to ask.
“It’s nothing.”
Chen Mo shook his head, then turned to Shen Rou.
“Find a renovation company. I want to convert the newly rented property into a cafeteria.”
“Got it.”
Shen Rou nodded and returned to her desk to start uploading renovation details online.
Near noon,
Yang Dahai arrived at the company with Dong Hong.
“Sorry, Mr. Chen, quitting my previous job took a bit of time.”
Yang Dahai apologized.
After dropping Chen Mo off at the company in the morning, he had gone to pick up Dong Hong with Chen Mo’s approval.
But unexpectedly, Dong Hong’s boss wasn’t at the company, and they had to wait a long time.
“You’re not late. Since Sister Hong has made her decision, let’s sign the contract.”
Chen Mo smiled and handed over a contract he had already prepared.
Having full trust in Chen Mo, Yang Dahai didn’t even look at the contract. He simply took it and began signing it with Dong Hong.
In no time, the contract was signed.
After putting it away,
Chen Mo directly transferred 7,900 yuan to Dong Hong’s account.
“Thank you, Mr. Chen! You’re truly our family’s benefactor!”
Dong Hong looked at the transfer confirmation on her phone, her eyes turning slightly red. She bowed slightly to Chen Mo, her expression sincere.
Chen Mo hadn’t expected such a reaction from her and quickly reached out to help her up.
“Sister Hong, you work, and I pay your salary—there’s no need to thank me.”
“It’s different. No matter what, you helped our family.”
“By the way, where is the cafeteria? It’s almost noon. I’ll go cook. I can’t take this salary for nothing.”
Dong Hong spoke seriously. Since she had already received the money, she felt uneasy not doing something in return.
“Sister Hong, the cafeteria is still under construction. There’s no place to cook for now.”
“Huh? That won’t do. In that case, I should return the salary to you first. Once the cafeteria is ready and I can start working, you can pay me then.”
“No need to worry, Sister Hong. You may not be able to cook yet, but there are other things you can do.”
Chen Mo reassured her with a smile. He genuinely appreciated her simple and honest nature.
“I need you to compile a menu for the cafeteria. The more dishes, the better.”
Dong Hong calmed down and agreed immediately.
She was confident in making a menu.
When she was younger, she had learned many dishes from her father. However, it had been a long time since she cooked some of them, so she would need to practice at home first.
Wu Yu Office Building
Chenglin Renovation
“Everyone, pause for a moment. We have a measuring job tomorrow—who wants to take it?”
A slightly chubby man walked into the office and clapped his hands.
“Brother Qi, what kind of job is it?”
A designer asked curiously.
The other designers also looked over with interest. A good job could mean a hefty commission.
“The file says it’s a cafeteria renovation.”
Qi Bu said.
As soon as he spoke, everyone instantly lost interest.
Renovating cafeterias or restaurants—
These were known in their design department as the least profitable projects.
Not to mention, clients often had a lot of demands. Many times, even after putting in effort to complete a design plan, another renovation company would snatch the deal away.
“Brother Qi, I still have a villa design to finish, so I won’t be able to go.”
A designer spoke up.
“Brother Qi, I need to meet with a previous client today.”
Qi Bu scanned the room and saw that no one was willing to take the job. He sighed.
He knew this job wasn’t very lucrative, but even a little money was still money. As a supervisor, he couldn’t just ignore the order.
Looking around, his gaze finally landed on a young man.
He remembered this young man—he was a new intern who had been with the company for three months. By now, he could handle basic design work and quotations.
But since he hadn’t officially been promoted yet, he was still assisting other designers.
Maybe this was a good chance for him to gain experience. If he did well, he could be promoted.
If he didn’t, well, it wasn’t a high-value project anyway, so losing it wouldn’t matter much.
Qi Bu thought to himself and then spoke.
“Wang Yang, you’ve been with the company for a while. Try handling this order. If you do well, we’ll consider promoting you.”
Saying that, he casually tossed a file to Wang Yang.
“The contact information and address are in there. Handle it yourself.”
“Thank you, Brother Qi!”
Wang Yang quickly took the file and expressed his gratitude.
Others might not want this job, but he was different. He was just an intern and had always been assisting others.
But now, he had the chance to handle an order independently. Regardless of the project’s value, it was a learning opportunity for him.
More importantly, if he succeeded, he could be promoted—something he had longed for.
Once promoted, he wouldn’t be stuck on a fixed salary. Like the other full-time employees, he could start earning commission from renovation projects.
After Qi Bu left, a few colleagues gathered around Wang Yang.
One of them glanced at the file on the desk and sighed.
“Xiao Yang, don’t get your hopes up too much. I’ve handled similar jobs before, and they’re a real pain.”
“The difficulty is one thing, but the biggest issue is the low profit. The effort you put in isn’t worth the return. It’s one of those jobs that’s hard to swallow but feels wasteful to abandon.”
“I think Brother Qi just gave it to you because no one else wanted it.”
“…”
The designers around him either criticized or mocked the project.
None of them thought it was worth taking.
Wang Yang felt a little uneasy at their words.
But remembering the promise of promotion, he clenched his fists.
