Chapter 125: Are There Really Companies That Don’t Want to Make Money?

“Let’s go to the cafeteria and dormitory first—they’re closer.”

Yang Dahai led the group at the front.

Soon, they arrived in front of a restaurant.

Seeing her father stop at the door, Yang Yaoyao immediately knew this was the company’s staff cafeteria. From the outside, it looked very large—much bigger than the usual small restaurants around town.

They pushed the door open and entered.

Once she saw the interior of the cafeteria, Yang Yaoyao was completely stunned.

She hadn’t expected the cafeteria to be so well decorated, and it was spotlessly clean. The ceiling even had central air conditioning, and two large LCD TVs hung on the far wall.

Even a regular restaurant wouldn’t be renovated this nicely.

“What do you think? This is our company’s staff cafeteria. Your mom works in that kitchen over there every day.”

Yang Dahai turned to look at his stunned daughter, pointing toward the kitchen with a touch of pride.

Their cafeteria was actually quite famous within the industrial park.

Yang Yaoyao snapped back to her senses. The setup here really did exceed her expectations.

“Dad, with a cafeteria this nice, do the employees have to pay for meals?”

“Pay? No way. The workers at the garment factory eat here completely free. And they can eat as much as they want. See those six big fridges over there? They’re filled with all kinds of drinks and alcohol—also free. Just grab whatever you like.”

As he spoke, Yang Dahai led them to one of the nearer fridges.

Yang Yaoyao glanced inside. The drink selection was impressive—she even spotted red wine.

    Even those are free?
This company’s boss is unbelievably generous.

    “Wow! So many drinks!”

Yang Duoduo’s eyes sparkled as she looked at the fridge’s contents.

The drink variety seemed even better than what supermarkets carried.

“Duoduo, those drinks belong to Brother Chen’s company. We’re on holiday, so we can’t take them. If you want a drink, wait till we get home—Mom will buy you some.”

Dong Hong gently rubbed Duoduo’s head and spoke softly.

    “Okay!”

    Duoduo nodded obediently.

“Let’s head upstairs and take a look.”

After that small moment, Yang Dahai led the family to the second floor.

It was livelier than the first. Several employees who hadn’t gone home for the holidays were playing billiards in the recreation room.

Seeing Yang Dahai come in, they greeted him.

“Brother Yang, it’s the holiday already—why are you at the company?”

“Oh, my daughter’s home on break, so I brought her over to look around. Otherwise, she’d keep worrying. You all carry on—we’re just taking a quick tour.”

Yang Dahai smiled and started showing Yang Yaoyao around the recreation room.

Inside were pool tables, ping pong tables, treadmills, fitness machines—and even a row of massage chairs along the wall.

Two people were lying back on the massage chairs at that moment, eyes closed. Who knows, maybe they’d even fallen asleep from comfort.

Seeing all this, Yang Yaoyao couldn’t help but admire the company’s boss. There really weren’t many who’d be so willing to spend for their employees.

“Alright, let’s move on. Let’s go check out the other places.”

After the recreation room, Yang Dahai brought Yang Yaoyao to see the staff dormitories and the factory floor.

By the time the tour finished, about half an hour had passed.

“So? No issues with the company, right? Now you can stop worrying.”

As they waited for a bus outside the industrial park, Yang Dahai turned to ask his eldest daughter.

    Yang Yaoyao numbly nodded.

She hadn’t found a single issue at the factory—instead, she’d been completely floored by what she saw.

Just when she thought the cafeteria and recreation room were already the peak of the company’s perks, she saw the dorms—private bathrooms, air conditioning, washing machines, TVs. She didn’t even know how to describe how she felt.

She couldn’t imagine a boss who’d be this generous, building such accommodations for employees.

And after touring the workshop, any lingering doubts she had about the company vanished.

This company was truly legitimate. Her parents were lucky to work here.

With that thought, Yang Yaoyao let out a deep breath. The changes in her family’s situation had lifted a lot of pressure off her.

Still, she didn’t plan to give up her part-time work. Her parents’ money was theirs—it was okay for her to spend a little, but not thoughtlessly.

If she could earn her own, she would.

So after staying home for a couple of days, she’d head back to continue working. The difference this time? She wouldn’t have to worry about her parents anymore.

In a hot pot restaurant near a certain university…

A young man and woman were chatting while eating, though the girl didn’t seem to be in a great mood.

“What’s wrong, Xiaoyu? Are you having trouble with that new clothing design project?”

Cheng Hu asked, noticing his girlfriend seemed low-energy.

Zhou Yu brushed her hair back with a sigh.

“Our latest plan got rejected again.”

“Those clothing companies are all too conservative. They’re afraid the public won’t accept our new designs and don’t want to take any risks.”

“Then why don’t you just follow their suggestions and create something similar to existing bestsellers?”

Cheng Hu looked confused. If the company tells you what they want, why not just make it that way? Why insist on your own designs?

    Imitating was easier, wasn’t it?

“You don’t get it. This is design. If we keep copying popular pieces, one day we’ll lose our creative soul.”

Zhou Yu rolled her eyes at him, then her tone changed slightly.

“But if we still can’t find a company to take us after the holidays, Sister Yaning plans to gather funds to open her own studio.”

“Sister Yaning—isn’t she the big sister figure in your dorm?”

“Yeah. But opening a studio is super risky, so we haven’t decided yet.”

Zhou Yu was a little speechless at Cheng Hu’s view, but Sister Yaning was their leader—and the most capable and creative of the four of them.

    It was just a shame…

All her bold ideas and imagination had nowhere to go.

Thinking of that, Zhou Yu sighed again.

“If only we could find a company that didn’t care if our designs were too out there—a place where we could be free to create.”

Cheng Hu heard her sigh again.

He didn’t want to discourage her, but come on—what company would actually let you do that?

All businesses are out to make money. As long as you copy what’s popular, the public will accept it, and sales are guaranteed.

Why would any sane boss take the risk of gambling on something untested?

Unless… that company didn’t care about making money.

    But seriously—
Would a company like that even exist?
