Chapter 374: A Law Firm Needs to Be Grand and Impressive

Standing in front of the advertisement, Chen Mo carefully read through it.

Then he turned to look at Mei Yun.

“You’re planning to sell this apartment building?”

The for-sale ad clearly referred to the very East City Apartment they were standing in.

“Yes, President Chen. That ad has been up for quite a while now, but with the current state of the building, no one’s interested.”

Mei Yun looked a little disheartened.

Their family had long been planning to sell the apartment, but what kind of boss would buy a property that’s losing money?

So once the ad went up, it was basically ignored.

If President Chen hadn’t asked about it just now, he would’ve walked past it like always, subconsciously tuning it out. As for why it hadn’t been taken down yet, maybe they still held onto a sliver of hope.

“And now? Are you still planning to sell it?”

    Chen Mo asked again.

    “Of course.”

Mei Yun nodded. He thought about selling this apartment every single day, but unfortunately, no buyer had ever come forward.

Chen Mo listened to his words, his gaze drifting back to the for-sale sign with a thoughtful expression.

Right now, he was in desperate need of ways to spend money.

And this apartment sale had just presented him with a brand new spending avenue.

As Pet Park continued to grow, it would definitely need a large number of employees. That meant employee dormitories would become a necessity.

If he were to build them himself, it would take time, and the staff wouldn’t be able to move in right away.

So instead of renting apartments here, why not just buy the whole building?

Besides, the senior living complex would take time to complete, and the empty-nest elderly they were bringing in would also need a place to stay. This apartment building could be a perfect temporary solution.

Then there was the matter of renovations.

Since he’d be buying the place, of course it would need to be refurbished.

Who knew what kind of tenants had lived here before? Some of the units were probably in complete disarray.

Renovating the entire building would also be a major expense.

The more he thought about it, the more Chen Mo felt that this apartment was the best money-burning opportunity he had right now.

However, his July spending plan had already been finalized. He didn’t need to buy the apartment immediately and use up System Funds just yet.

But this building could definitely serve as a backup spending plan, in case of emergencies.

After all, it was currently July, and the system’s settlement date was at the end of August.

With this backup plan in place, he suddenly felt confident that he could fully convert this round of System Funds.

    Full conversion.

    That meant 30 million.

    Thirty million!

Chen Mo couldn’t help getting a little excited. Could it be that this time, he was finally going to succeed in converting it all and become a multimillionaire?

He took a deep breath to calm his excitement, then casually turned to Mei Yun and asked, “How much are you asking for this apartment building?”

He wasn’t planning to buy it right now, but it didn’t hurt to find out the price.

    “President Chen, it’s 70 million.”

Mei Yun didn’t think much of the question, assuming President Chen was just asking out of curiosity.

After all, someone who could become the president of a corporation—no matter how young he looked—definitely had a sharp business mind. Why would he buy a money-losing apartment?

Seventy million was already a very low price.

When they built the apartment back then, they had invested nearly ninety million into it, inside and out.

Over the years, though tenants had been few, they had recouped part of the investment.

Selling it for seventy million meant they were still turning a profit overall.

But considering the investment, the years involved, and the minimal returns, from a business perspective, it was basically a failed investment.

    Eighty million?

Including renovations, the total cost would be at least a hundred million.

    Chen Mo murmured to himself.

With that much backup spending available, he could wait until the day before the system’s settlement—or even just a few hours before—and spend the money all at once, wiping out the System Funds completely.

Of course, in August, he would first use other methods to bring the System Funds down to a very low level, then implement the backup plan to clear it out entirely.

    The plan was flawless.

The more Chen Mo thought about it, the more convinced he became that there wasn’t a single flaw in it.

    Hahaha…

Was he finally going to complete a full settlement this time?

With that thought, Chen Mo left the apartment in high spirits and got into his exclusive ride, the black G-Wagen, heading back to the company.

    At Mingri Group,

Chen Mo had just returned to his office. Because he had found a way to fully settle the System Funds, he was in a great mood and planned to relax a bit by turning on his computer.

Just then, someone knocked on the office door.

Soon after, Tang Qiu walked in, holding a thick stack of documents.

“President Chen, this is the proposal for Baishu Law Firm, including the location selection. Please take a look.”

As she spoke, Tang Qiu handed over the documents.

Chen Mo perked up at the mention of Baishu Law Firm. This was a key part of his spending plan for the month, so of course he had to review it carefully to see if Tang Qiu had tried to save him any money.

He took the proposal and began reading it seriously.

But before long, his brow furrowed.

    He knew it.

He casually set the proposal aside and fixed his gaze on Tang Qiu, who was sitting across from him.

“President Chen, is there something wrong with the proposal?”

Tang Qiu couldn’t help but ask when she saw his frown, a trace of confusion in her heart.

She had gone over this proposal countless times and was confident it was already near perfect.

She couldn’t figure out what part had displeased President Chen.

    “There are problems, big problems.”

    Chen Mo spoke without hesitation.

“Your proposal is far too conservative. You’re opening a law firm, yet you’re only planning to rent a 200-square-meter office? That’s not a law firm, that’s a studio at best.”

“A law firm needs to look professional and impressive. If clients walk in and see that it’s just a small office, their trust in us will drop significantly.”

“And if they don’t trust us, how can we expect them to choose our firm?”

“But President Chen, the firm is just starting out, and given my current reputation, going big from the beginning could be extremely risky.”

“Also, if we’re hiring fresh graduates or interns from law schools, they won’t be able to handle cases right away. My plan was to rent a modest office first, bring on some interns to train, and once they’re capable of handling cases, then we can think about expanding.”

    Tang Qiu explained.

Although the interns were all law graduates, they had never set foot in a courtroom and lacked practical experience.

New hires definitely wouldn’t be able to take on cases right away.

Even those with talent and strong abilities would likely need at least six months of training at the firm before they could manage a case on their own.

And even then, only the simpler ones.
