Chapter 360: Seeking Advice from Wei Yan

    The elevator descended slowly.

    Before long,

Li Shen and Wu Yu from Boring Short Video also stepped in, exchanging brief greetings with everyone.

The group of company managers then headed together to the Mingri Group Cafeteria.

    Once there,

They found an empty table and sat down.

Wei Yan set down his tray and looked up at Song Xia.

“So, Manager Song, what would you like to ask me?”

Hearing this, Song Xia took a moment to organize her thoughts before explaining the situation from beginning to end.

As she spoke, Wei Yan began to chuckle.

    At the same time,

Fang Chang, Wu Yu, Li Shen… all of them started laughing as well.

Song Xia looked at Wei Yan and the others, all of whom were laughing, completely puzzled.

She had no idea what they were laughing about.

Seeing the confusion on her face, Wei Yan stopped laughing and spoke slowly.

“Song Xia, you probably don’t come to headquarters often, and you haven’t had much interaction with President Chen.”

“President Chen’s reaction was actually very telling. He’s worried you’ll become arrogant.”

    “Worried we’ll become arrogant?”

Song Xia exchanged a glance with Su Dan, still not quite understanding.

    Wei Yan continued.

“It’s obvious. You’ve turned things around at Nanhe Coffee, and President Chen is afraid that if he shows how pleased he is, it’ll make you complacent and less motivated in the future.”

“And when Nanhe Coffee was losing money before, why was President Chen always so kind and easygoing? Because he didn’t want to pressure you or make you anxious.”

“In truth, when Nanhe Coffee kept losing money, President Chen was more anxious than any of you.”

“But he chose to shoulder that burden alone so you wouldn’t feel pressured. That’s what makes President Chen so remarkable.”

“Not being arrogant in victory, nor discouraged in defeat—that’s the message President Chen wants to convey to us.”

    Ah!

Song Xia’s mouth opened slightly in surprise. She hadn’t expected President Chen’s cold demeanor today to mean that.

She turned to look at Li Shen and the others, and saw that they were all nodding in agreement.

Any doubts in her heart vanished. These were people personally promoted by President Chen. If anyone understood his intentions, it was them.

So President Chen was just worried they’d get cocky!

With that realization, Song Xia felt a wave of relief.

If that was the case, then there was nothing to worry about. All she needed to do was keep working hard and strive to make Nanhe Coffee profitable.

“Oh right, Manager Wei, there’s one more thing I wanted to discuss with you all.”

Song Xia turned her gaze to Wei Yan and the others and continued.

“President Chen is planning to form a team to bring some of the elderly identified in the Foundation’s poverty investigation to Jiangcheng.”

“The team will be assembled by selecting staff from various companies, though I haven’t finalized how many people we’ll need yet.”

    She briefly explained the situation.

“I see. Once you’ve determined the number of people, we can coordinate with each company and department based on their current workloads to select the team members.”

Wei Yan thought for a moment, then responded.

    “Alright, let’s go with that.”

    Song Xia nodded.

    CEO’s Office.

Chen Mo was eating the meal Shen Rou had brought him, while thinking about what to do once the elderly were brought over.

The Elderly Song and Dance Troupe had certain physical requirements for its members.

Not all of the elderly coming to Jiangcheng would be able to join the troupe.

So what about those who couldn’t?

Chen Mo pondered for a moment and finally settled on a solution.

The Corner Pet Park. They could help feed the cats and dogs there, and help clean the park.

These were tasks well within the capabilities of the elderly.

Most of the elderly being brought over this time were still mobile.

But in the future, there would be those who were no longer mobile, or had limited mobility and were too frail to work. These individuals wouldn’t be able to contribute labor.

They would need to be supported through the Charity Funds.

Due to the completion of a special task, the Charity Funds had once again increased.

Now, the amount displayed on the System Panel had surpassed 16 million.

    Previously,

Chen Mo hadn’t decided how to use those funds. But now, he had a clear purpose.

    An elderly care home.

As the investigation teams uncovered more and more impoverished elderly individuals, it was time to start building one.

Otherwise, when the elderly began arriving, it would be manageable if there were only a few, but if the numbers grew, it would become unmanageable.

However, the elderly care home would need to be divided into two types.

One type would house elderly individuals who could still provide labor value to the company.

This shouldn’t be called a senior apartment. It should be called a Senior Employee Dormitory.

Since it’s an Employee Dormitory, there’s no need to use Charity Funds for construction. It can be fully funded using System Funds.

After all, there are countless impoverished elderly people across the country.

So the construction of this Senior Employee Dormitory can’t be on a small scale.

This would also be a perfect way to make use of a large portion of the System Funds.

Then comes the actual senior apartment, which would house elderly individuals who are immobile or unable to work.

These people can’t be considered company employees, so the construction would have to be funded with Charity Funds.

As for the location of the senior apartment,

Chen Mo thought for a moment and finally decided on the area near the corner of the Pet Park.

That area is relatively remote, mostly made up of villages. Finding an open plot of land to build a senior apartment there shouldn’t be a problem.

Of course, the land itself would need to be acquired.

But that’s an easy problem to solve. It just takes money. If money can solve it, then it’s not really a problem.

After finalizing the arrangements for the charity-supported elderly, Chen Mo also finished his lunch.

He took out his phone, found Pang Tao’s number, and dialed.

Since the apartment was going to be built in Pang Tao’s area, he might as well leave the whole matter to them.

    ……

    Corner Pet Park.

Pang Tao and Xu Zhengming stood in front of the half-completed Cat Castle, both wearing smiles.

“Brother Xu, looks like the Cat Castle will be finished in about a month!”

“More or less. Once the Cat Castle is done, we’ll still need about a month to finish landscaping the Pet Park.”

“Looks like we won’t be able to open the Pet Park in August after all!”

Pang Tao couldn’t help but sigh. According to the original plan, the Pet Park was supposed to open in August.

But due to the complexity of the Cat Castle’s construction and the interior finishing work, the timeline had been extended by at least half.

    There was no helping it.

They wanted the Cat Castle to be a major highlight of the Corner Pet Park. Sacrificing its quality just to speed up the timeline would be putting the cart before the horse.

    “Sigh.”

Xu Zhengming let out a long breath as well.

“Have you talked to the Clothing Factory?”

“It’s all settled. They said it’s no problem. With the extra month, they can use the time to develop more Pet Fashion items.”

    Pang Tao spoke slowly.

Pet Fashion was a major collaboration between Corner Pet Park and the Clothing Factory. If handled well, both sides would benefit.

The Clothing Factory could expand its Pet Fashion market.

And Corner Pet Park could use the Pet Fashion Show to attract visitors and boost foot traffic.
