Transmigrated Family C24
by MarineTLChapter 24: Advancing the Plot
“Yan Daya, stop right there! Stop! Do you hear me?!” A sharp, grating voice shouted like a death warrant.
“If you don’t stop, I’ll go straight to your house and make your scholar father stay bedridden for another ten days to half a month!”
These words forced Daya to stop in her tracks. She trembled all over, her voice shaking, “You… don’t… come over… don’t come…”
Seeing the person approaching her step by step, Daya instinctively felt danger. But she didn’t dare to run and could only keep retreating.
The sharp voice belonged to none other than Guo Lizheng’s youngest son.
Panting heavily, he gritted his teeth and said, “I heard our father sold the land—for seventy taels of silver! That’s a huge sum! Go back and tell him he doesn’t need to give much, just thirty taels as your dowry. We’ll get married tomorrow, and the past will be forgotten. From now on, you’ll be my Guo family’s daughter-in-law and enjoy a good life at my house!”
Guo Xiaoxiang had been furious ever since he heard the news.
Originally, this was supposed to be a perfect win-win situation—marrying Daya would give him a scholar for a father-in-law, which sounded prestigious.
Yan Lao’er was in debt from gambling, so he tricked his father-in-law into selling the land, planning to use the opportunity to get a generous dowry and curry favor with influential people.
Getting both wealth and status—what could be better?
But just as all the traps were set, that scholar father-in-law refused to play by the rules!
He exposed Yan Lao’er’s gambling debts in advance and sold the land directly to a pawnshop.
Their family had schemed and plotted, but in the end, they got nothing!
Fine! If they couldn’t get both, they’d at least get one!
Daya was good-looking—she could even hold her own against the town girls.
Her father’s scholarly status was still there, so this marriage was still worth securing.
“I’m not going to your house! My father won’t agree!” Daya stammered, trembling.
Seeing that no one was around, Guo Xiaoxiang’s thoughts turned sinister.
That scholar had outright rejected the marriage, and last time when Guo Xiaoxiang went to their house, he had even been pushed around and hurt. If he didn’t use some extreme methods now, he’d never get his way!
That scholar looked down on him? Well, he’d make him accept him as a son-in-law whether he liked it or not!
He lunged forward and grabbed Daya’s arm, trying to drag her to a more secluded place.
“Let… go of me! Let go!” Daya panicked, struggling in pain. “I’ll scream for help if you don’t let go!”
“Scream all you want!” Guo Xiaoxiang sneered. “But if you do, I’ll rip your clothes off! Go on, scream!”
Daya was utterly terrified. She had no strength to fight back, nor did she dare to scream—she could only sob helplessly.
This enraged Yan Yu.
That bastard wasn’t even following the proper script! Just look at how scared her Daya-jie was—her lips had turned pale, and she was trembling all over.
“Sanbao! Run him down!” Yan Yu shouted fiercely.
Yes, she had spent the entire journey thinking of a name for the ox.
She was Dabaobao, her younger sibling would be Erbaobao, and this ox was now her family’s Sanbao!
Guo Xiaoxiang never expected Yan Lao’er’s family to return at this moment and catch him red-handed.
He turned just in time to see the ox charging toward him like a mad beast.
“Ahhh!” With a yelp, he stumbled and fell to the side, immediately letting go of Daya.
Daya’s legs went weak, and she collapsed to the ground.
The ox brushed past Guo Xiaoxiang and turned around, charging at him again with the cart still attached.
Guo Xiaoxiang scrambled to his feet and ran for his life, screaming in terror as he looked back.
“Yan Lao’er! Stop it! Hold that ox back!”
If that beast hit him, he wouldn’t die, but he’d be crippled for sure!
“Stop! Stop!” Yan Lao’er finally called out.
Li Xuemei clutched her belly with one hand while gripping the cart tightly with the other, gritting her teeth.
When she saw the ox stop, she snapped, “Why stop?! Run him down!”
Yan Yu, still fuming, shouted at the ox, “Sanbao, listen to me! Hit him!”
Sanbao didn’t move.
Yan Lao’er jumped down, helping Li Xuemei off the cart, then firmly picked up his daughter.
By then, Guo Xiaoxiang had already fled far away.
“Daya, it’s alright now. Don’t be afraid, your second uncle and aunt are here,” Li Xuemei spoke gently.
Seeing her relatives, Daya burst into tears. “Ershen! Wuwuwu… I was so scared! So scared…”
She was still trembling, stiff as a board. It took a long time under Li Xuemei’s comforting touch before she finally softened.
Struggling to stand, she hesitated to touch Li Xuemei’s belly but clung to her clothes like a lifeline.
Yan Yu picked up the fallen bamboo basket, gathering the scattered wild vegetables.
She finally let out the breath she had been holding in and shuddered at the thought—
They had made it just in time!
Even a little delay, and if Daya had been dragged farther away, they wouldn’t have heard her cries.
If tragedy had struck, it would’ve been a young girl’s life lost.
The whole family knew what could’ve happened to Daya.
That’s why she and her mother had been so furious, desperate to see that scumbag trampled.
Yan Lao’er, however, held back. He knew his wife and daughter were just venting. They didn’t truly intend to kill—those were words spoken in the heat of the moment.
But they had forgotten—Sanbao was a mechanical bionic ox. If he really hit someone, that person wouldn’t just be injured—they’d be dead.
“Erya, take your Daya-jie and your mother home,” Yan Lao’er instructed.
Erya looked at her father, then obediently followed his orders.
Once they were gone, Yan Lao’er silently unhitched the cart, patted the ox, and said coldly, “Sanbao, go kick him—aim for the chest, but don’t kill him.”
A Level-One Authority command had been given.
Sanbao bolted off, chasing after Guo Xiaoxiang…
—
Yan Yu squatted by the doorway, waiting for her father to return.
Her mother had put Daya to work, helping her sew bags, staying by her side and chatting softly.
Then, she heard small, leisurely hoofbeats approaching.
She sprang up.
No doubt—it was Sanbao!
“Father! Sanbao!” She waved.
“Moo!” Sanbao responded, speeding into the courtyard.
Yan Yu hurried to close the gate and immediately whispered, “Dad, what did you do? Did you beat up that bastard? Did you catch him?”
Yan Lao’er had barely opened his mouth when Yan Xiangheng came running out, his pale scholar’s face flushed red with anger. “Uncle, Father wants to see you.”
Yan Lao’er nodded and followed him to the east room.
Meanwhile, Yan Yu patted the ox, then suddenly noticed something—
“Eh?” She squatted down to examine the suspicious hoof.
On Sanbao’s left leg, there were two tiny red stains.
She leaned in and sniffed.
Blood!
“Sanbao, did you kick him? Or did my dad hit him?” she asked urgently.
Sanbao: “Moo!”
“Was it my dad?”
Sanbao shook his head.
“It was you! Good job!” Yan Yu praised before asking, “How many times did you kick him?”
She had been reflecting—her earlier outburst had been reckless. Her mother was pregnant and couldn’t afford stress.
If they caused a manslaughter case, their whole family would be doomed. That scumbag wasn’t worth it. But her father had clearly planned ahead.
Now she saw it—he hadn’t laid a hand on Guo Xiaoxiang himself.
Instead, he let Sanbao do it.
It hurt more!
Sanbao: “Moo!”
Yan Yu waited.
She widened her eyes. “Only once?”
Sanbao nodded.
Yan Yu huffed. “Tch! He got off easy!”
