Chapter 84: I Really Have Guts!

Hearing this, Shen Fei paused, scratching his head awkwardly. He hesitated and said, “Ah Yan, I want to…”

His voice trailed off, but his fiery eyes had already revealed what he wanted to say.

    “No!”

Meeting Shen Fei’s gaze, Han Xinyan instantly figured out what he was planning. Her instinctive resistance made her respond immediately.

    “Alright!”

Rejected outright, Shen Fei looked a bit disappointed.

The last time he had slept in the same bed as a woman was in his previous life when Han Xinyan was still alive. After Han Xinyan’s passing and learning the truth, Shen Fei had deliberately kept his distance from other women—except for his daughter, Shen Jiayue.

Whenever he felt any physical urges, he would think of Han Xinyan’s every smile and frown, which would overwhelm his heart with guilt and grief. Those feelings always extinguished his impulses. This continued until his death in his past life.

Seeing Han Xinyan again in this life, he naturally wanted to rekindle their relationship immediately. However, he knew his past behavior had been terrible, deeply hurting Han Xinyan. Now, whenever she saw him, she was either fearful or resentful, even wanting a divorce.

But fortunately, his changes had not gone unnoticed by Han Xinyan, and their relationship was slowly improving.

Under the dim evening light and calm atmosphere, everything was igniting Shen Fei’s hormones, and he felt his mind wandering. After much hesitation, he had finally spoken up, only to be rejected.

Forget it; he thought, I’ll wait a little longer.

Seeing Shen Fei’s disappointed look, Han Xinyan couldn’t help but feel soft-hearted.

Though she was slowly accepting Shen Fei again, she still wasn’t ready to act as husband and wife. But had her tone just now been too cold?

Her cheeks flushed slightly as she spoke softly, “What I mean is… let’s wait a little longer, okay?”

As soon as her words fell, Shen Fei’s excitement was immediately evident. If their daughter wasn’t asleep, he would have spun Han Xinyan around in joy.

    “No problem! I’ll wait!”

Han Xinyan didn’t respond and shyly pushed Shen Fei out of the room.

Standing outside the closed door, Shen Fei, who had once possessed billions in wealth in his past life, could only grin foolishly.

    The next morning.

Shen Fei’s well-disciplined routine had him waking up early. Just as he was about to head out with his messy hair to the market, he heard sounds coming from the kitchen.

To his surprise, it was Han Xinyan.

Hearing the noise behind her, Han Xinyan turned around and said, “Why are you up so early?”

Seeing Han Xinyan bustling about in the kitchen, Shen Fei felt a sense of deep contentment.

Han Xinyan had always been so gentle and virtuous. It was because of his foolish actions that he had pushed such a good woman into despair.

“I couldn’t sleep,” Shen Fei said cheerfully, sniffing slightly as his nose felt a little sour. “I’ll wash up first, and then I’ll come help you!”

In the kitchen, the two of them busied themselves together, their cooperation seamless.

Although their conversation was light and casual, it somehow deepened their bond.

What was supposed to be a simple breakfast ended up taking an hour and a half to make.

After eating, Shen Jiayue, who didn’t have to go to kindergarten, started acting adorable again.

“Daddy, Mommy, Yueyue wants to go for a ride!”

Shen Fei, as always, indulged his daughter’s every whim. Han Xinyan, too, felt a rare sense of warmth as she prepared breakfast. Not wanting to spoil the moment, she nodded in agreement.

Just as the three of them were about to step out the door, Han Xinyan’s phone buzzed.

“Who is it?” Shen Fei asked curiously.

“It’s my brother,” Han Xinyan replied as she answered the call.

    “Lixin, what’s up?”

“Nothing much. Sis, are you up?”

Over the phone, Han Lixin’s tone clearly carried some dissatisfaction.

“I’m up. I’m taking Yueyue out for a drive,” Han Xinyan replied.

“Then bring Yueyue over at noon. Li Li called and said she’s coming over. Mom and Dad have been up since early morning, as if they were preparing a feast for a government leader! They’re buying everything they can get their hands on—no stopping them!”

“I can’t believe this. It’s not like Li Li’s anything special, and yet they’re treating her like royalty. She’s just a regular person!” Han Lixin grumbled.

Han Lixin had been dating Li Li for years, always walking on eggshells around her. He wanted to marry her, but he couldn’t stand the way she treated his parents with arrogance.

“You always have something to complain about!” Han Xinyan teased. “You’ve been dating Li Li for years—it’s about time you two got married. If Mom and Dad are busy because of it, there’s no harm done.”

“I just can’t stand it! What has she done to deserve Mom and Dad treating her like this? She acts so superior, even toward them. If she wants to marry, fine. If not, I don’t care—I’m not short on women!” Han Lixin grumbled angrily.

“I bet you only dare say that to me. You wouldn’t say a word of it to Li Li!” Han Xinyan teased, knowing her brother’s personality.

In front of Li Li, he wouldn’t dare say a thing.

“Even if Li Li’s here, I’d still say it!” Han Lixin insisted.

“Sure, sure—you’re so brave!” Han Xinyan laughed softly.

“Anyway, bring Yueyue over at noon. I’ll see you then!”

    With that, the call ended.

“What’s up?” Shen Fei asked naturally.

“Do you know my brother’s girlfriend, Li Li?” Han Xinyan replied. “She’s coming over for lunch today, and my brother asked me to bring Yueyue home.”

Hearing this, Shen Fei smiled and said, “If you and Yueyue are going, what about me? Should I come too?”

Han Xinyan froze for a moment.

Shen Fei’s changes had been so significant that she did want her family to see a better side of him—especially her brother, Han Lixin.

Back then, Han Lixin had liked Shen Fei, but Shen Fei’s mistakes had severely hurt their relationship.

“If you want to come, then come,” Han Xinyan said with a smile. “As long as you’re brave enough!”

“I have to say,” Shen Fei replied with a meaningful look, “I really do have guts!”
