by MarineTLChapter 42: Stop Explaining!
When Hu Yuantai saw Shen Fei on the opposite side, he was about to greet him when he saw Shen Fei subtly shake his head. He immediately withdrew the “Mr. Shen” he had been about to say.
After hearing Zhang Gui’s words, Hu Yuantai didn’t hesitate for a moment. He immediately concluded that Zhang Gui was not trustworthy! Especially since he knew Shen Fei well, Hu Yuantai trusted Shen Fei’s character.
Han Xinyan didn’t understand the full situation and was worried that Hu Yuantai might be on Zhang Gui’s side and wrongly accuse Shen Fei. So she quickly explained, “Mr. Hu, Zhang Gui is talking nonsense! He’s been slandering me!”
“What’s going on? Minister Han, please explain,” Hu Yuantai said seriously.
“Mr. Hu, here’s the thing! Zhang Gui has been unhappy with my promotion to Minister. He already complained about me in the company. Now that he’s met me and my husband…” Han Xinyan hesitated and skipped over mentioning her husband’s name.
“When he met me and Shen Fei, he mocked and slandered us. Shen Fei got so angry that he acted out!”
“Fortunately, Shen Fei was also at Chengyou Technology when I signed the contract! Otherwise, according to Zhang Gui, even if I had no relationship with the CEO of Chengyou, he’d still drag me into it!”
Han Xinyan explained everything to Hu Yuantai.
Just then, Jiang Tiancheng arrived, looking confused.
He was in deep trouble!
“I didn’t spread any rumors! Did I directly accuse you and Zhang Gui of anything?” Zhang Gui stammered, feeling anxious as he saw Jiang Tiancheng’s figure and Hu Yuantai’s dark expression.
“Yuantai, what’s this guy to you?” Jiang Tiancheng asked with a click of his tongue.
Hu Yuantai looked grim. “He calls my aunt ‘Auntie!’ But that’s not the issue here.”
Without a doubt, Hu Yuantai would side with Han Xinyan over Zhang Gui. He knew exactly what kind of person Zhang Gui was.
In the past, Zhang Gui had relied on his family connection to act arrogantly in the company. Hu Yuantai, out of respect for his aunt, had turned a blind eye to his actions. Even when Zhang Gui humiliated Han Xinyan, Hu Yuantai had ignored it.
However, he had intended to talk to Zhang Gui about his behavior. If Zhang Gui wanted to stay at Zhongtai, he’d have to change his ways. But this situation had escalated before he had a chance to do so.
What’s more, this had all happened in front of Shen Fei, who had saved his life. Hu Yuantai would never let Zhang Gui’s actions anger Shen Fei.
Zhang Gui not only insulted Shen Fei but also caused trouble for his friend Jiang Tiancheng.
This could not be tolerated!
Even if Zhang Gui were his half-brother, Hu Yuantai wouldn’t let him ruin his relationship with Shen Fei!
“No problem? Then this will be easy!”
Jiang Tiancheng said, walking straight toward Zhang Gui.
“Jiang… Mr. Jiang!” Zhang Gui was terrified, his mind going blank.
Jiang Tiancheng smiled cruelly, his expression deceptively friendly, before suddenly grabbing Zhang Gui by the collar and viciously slapping him across the face.
“Go ahead, keep talking! Who have I been messing around with?”
“Did you really think you’re something special?”
“Why aren’t you so tough now?”
Jiang Tiancheng’s slaps were harsh, and Zhang Gui had no arrogance left in him.
“Mr. Jiang, I was wrong! Please stop!” Zhang Gui begged, his face swelling.
“Sorry, please forgive me!”
“Mr. Jiang!”
But Jiang Tiancheng didn’t stop, even as Hu Yuantai looked away.
When Zhang Gui’s face was swollen enough, Jiang Tiancheng finally stopped, taking a few deep breaths. He turned to Shen Fei and Han Xinyan.
“Mr. Shen, Mrs. Shen, I’m sorry that my actions caused you unnecessary trouble!”
“Mr. Jiang, what are you doing? I should be thanking you! If it weren’t for you, I might have been fired last time!”
Han Xinyan quickly waved her hand, grateful, while Shen Fei just nodded slightly.
Jiang Tiancheng acknowledged their gratitude without lingering too long.
He turned to Hu Yuantai and said, “Yuantai, this guy’s character is terrible. Why are you still keeping him? Just because your aunt is his aunt? Let me tell you, this trash might end up ruining you one day!”
Upon hearing this, Zhang Gui’s face went pale.
Before he could defend himself, there was a commotion behind him.
“Move! We are here to make an arrest!”
The crowd parted to make way for the police.
“Who called the police? What happened here?”
The lead officer scanned the area, looking stern.
“It’s just a scene, no big deal!” Jiang Tiancheng said, looking at the officers with a calm expression.
“Oh, isn’t this Young Master Jiang?” The officers were surprised to see him.
They knew Jiang Tiancheng because of his grandfather, Jiang Anbang, who had been the old city mayor. Although he had retired, he was still well-known and respected in the city. As a result, they had learned about Jiang Tiancheng as well.
“Stop with the ‘Young Master’ nonsense, we’re not living in feudal times!” Jiang Tiancheng sneered and pointed to Zhang Gui. “The idiot who called the police is him. Ask him if this is a scene or not!”
The officers followed his finger and saw the swollen-faced, miserable-looking man.
The lead officer furrowed his brow. “You called the police? What happened?”
“It’s nothing, just a misunderstanding! Sorry for making you come out here!” Zhang Gui quickly apologized, looking sincere.
“Are you sure? Is everything really fine?” The officer asked again.
Zhang Gui nodded repeatedly, not daring to breathe deeply, “Yes! I’m sure!”
“Alright, but let me inform you that reporting false alarms is a crime, you know? Wasting everyone’s time!” the officer reprimanded.
When Zhang Gui nodded obediently, the officers exchanged a glance with Jiang Tiancheng before leaving.
They respected Jiang Anbang, but that didn’t mean they had to always serve Jiang Tiancheng. This time, they were letting the matter slide as a favor to the Jiang family.
After the officers left, Han Xinyan let out a sigh of relief.
However, Zhang Gui remained on edge.
“Mr. Hu, this…” Zhang Gui began, but was immediately interrupted by Hu Yuantai.
“Zhang Gui, stop explaining! Please leave Zhongtai Commerce immediately! We can’t afford someone like you! Even if your work ability is great, if your character is flawed, it’s useless!”
