    Chapter 161: Stirring Trouble!

“You bunch of old geezers, all you do is talk behind people’s backs!”

“Each one of you, after all the politeness I’ve shown, yet you stab me in the back!”

“Who said my daughter doesn’t care about me? I’ll tell you, you’re all talking nonsense, do you know that?”

“Not long ago, they even drove to my house! How come you didn’t see that? Why aren’t you saying anything now?”

“You say I deserve it? Do you even know how to speak? What child ever truly holds a grudge against their parents? Even if she’s mad now, she’ll come back after a while! Unlike you, old geezers!”

Zhang Xiulian, who had just returned from the supermarket with oil, was now wildly waving her hands in the crowd, almost losing her mind.

The elderly people around her had no idea that their supposedly private conversation had been overheard by Zhang Xiulian.

Zhang Xiulian’s sharp tongue was well-known in the area!

Although their chat had been lackluster, these elderly people still knew how to stir the pot.

“Ha! I see, you guys are trying to latch onto someone with power? No chance…”

Those words made Zhang Xiulian’s blood pressure spike, almost making her faint on the spot. But she held it together.

She was about to raise her head to yell at the person who had spoken, but by the time she looked up, the group was already gone.

The more she thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt. With a bitter expression, Zhang Xiulian walked home.

“What happened? Why do you have such a bitter face?” Han Jian asked, puzzled when he saw her.

“Old Han, I can’t face anyone anymore! I don’t want to live anymore! Our family has become a joke in the neighborhood! They’re all saying we deserve it, that it’s all our fault! Our son-in-law and daughter are enjoying their lives, while we’re still stuck with this shabby house and get no benefits! How can we show our faces in this neighborhood in the future?”

Zhang Xiulian angrily threw the oil she was holding aside and collapsed on the sofa, crying uncontrollably.

Seeing this, Han Jian could only sigh helplessly.

He knew all too well that the people in the neighborhood had been mocking their family.

They’d stayed home to avoid hearing it.

“Call Xin and Xinyan back! They need to come home now! I don’t care! I want those people to see that our Han family isn’t what they say we are!” Zhang Xiulian cried.

“Stop crying! What’s the point? They won’t even tell us when they’re moving!”

Han Jian was irritated by her piercing cry and yelled softly.

“I don’t care about that! You must bring them back today! Otherwise, how will I hold my head up in this neighborhood in the future? Why are you just standing there? Can’t you come up with an excuse? Just say I fainted! Get them back immediately!”

Zhang Xiulian choked on her words.

“How can I call? Our number’s been blocked!”

    Han Jian said, feeling helpless.

“Call Li Xin! Have him talk to his sister! I don’t believe Xinyan can be so heartless!” Zhang Xiulian said.

Not wanting to hear more of Zhang Xiulian’s crying, Han Jian sighed helplessly and then called Han Li Xin.

Fifteen minutes later, when Shen Fei and Han Xinyan were helping Shen Jiayue with her kindergarten homework, the sound of a ringing phone broke the silence.

“Li Xin, what’s wrong?” Han Xinyan asked softly.

“Sis! I really didn’t want to call you! But Dad and Mom are crying on the phone, and Dad says he’s feeling dizzy! I can’t do anything about it!” Han Li Xin said reluctantly.

“What happened at home?” Han Xinyan asked, confused.

“Nothing happened, Dad says Mom fainted, but from the way I hear Mom’s voice, she’s just fine!” Han Li Xin said, frustrated.

“Is that so? Did they say they want me to bring Jiayue and Shen Fei back?” Han Xinyan’s heart sank.

At this point, her parents still refused to wake up to reality.

“Yes! Don’t even think about it, they’re just pretending!” Han Li Xin replied.

“Alright, you tell them this: If they’re really sick, just go to the hospital, I’ll pay for the treatment, and it’ll be as a repayment for their raising me! As for future support, I’ll pay as well! But if they keep acting like this, don’t blame me for cutting ties!” Han Xinyan said.

Upon hearing this, Han Li Xin didn’t think what Han Xinyan said was too harsh.

What was there to cling to for parents who were willing to sacrifice their daughter’s happiness and life to enjoy their own?

“Don’t worry, sis! Focus on your own business!” Han Li Xin reassured her.

After the call ended, Shen Fei didn’t ask Han Xinyan about the conversation.

Even without asking, Shen Fei could guess most of it.

With all the commotion at the hotel yesterday and the grand scene, if his in-laws weren’t causing trouble, he wouldn’t feel at ease.

If he hadn’t stepped in to help, Han Li Xin would surely have had a hard time these days. He might even have been forced into an arranged marriage.

As for his in-laws, as long as Han Xinyan didn’t care, he wouldn’t interfere.

“Jiayue, how do you read this word?”

Shifting the focus away from the phone call, Han Xinyan gently looked at the little girl.

It’s said that a child’s growth must start from an early age. The three-year-old girl was already learning to read with Han Xinyan.

Meanwhile, the words Han Xinyan had spoken were relayed by Han Li Xin to Han Jian and Zhang Xiulian.

After all, they were still his parents, so Han Li Xin’s tone was somewhat tactful.

“That damn girl, I should have been ruthless and strangled her when she was born! She’s so ungrateful, a white-eyed wolf!”

    Zhang Xiulian started crying again.

Before Han Li Xin could hang up, he overheard Zhang Xiulian’s harsh words and immediately rebutted:

“Mom! How can you say that! From what I remember, has there ever been a day when you treated my sister well? A person’s heart is made of flesh. You treated her badly, yet she’s still dutiful to you. How can you say that? Do you want me to tell her what you just said? Do you want her to cut ties with you completely?”

Hearing this, Zhang Xiulian and Han Jian immediately became flustered.

If it weren’t for the grand scene at the hotel entrance yesterday, they wouldn’t care so much about Shen Fei’s family.

They’d probably still be gossiping about them.

But now things were different. If Han Xinyan found out, it would only make things worse.

“Li Xin, your mom’s just angry, you know how it is… there’s no overnight feud between mothers and daughters…”

    “Let’s hope so…”

Han Li Xin said coldly and then hung up the phone.

At the Yunhe Mansion, even after finishing the call, Han Xinyan remained indifferent.

After her disillusionment with her parents, nothing related to them could affect her anymore!

    Night deepened.

After Shen Jiayue had fallen asleep, Han Xinyan, for the first time, proactively entered Shen Fei’s room.

After a close and intimate exchange, Han Xinyan left the bedroom, satisfied.

Shen Fei smiled as he looked at Han Xinyan’s retreating figure, his eyes full of contentment.

The next day, through an introduction from Tang Xingwen, Shen Fei got in touch with the boss of Pinka Daily Chemicals Co., Ltd.

After setting a time, the boss, along with a few high-level staff members, waited at the entrance.

The boss’s top priority was to sell the entire company and use the funds to branch out into other industries.

However, because their company was relatively small with limited profits, achieving this goal was quite difficult.

So, when they met a major boss who was actively looking to acquire the company, the boss was very attentive.

Even before Shen Fei arrived, he had already waited at the door for half an hour.

In addition, to show respect, even the newly appointed vice president and the business department manager were summoned.

“Mr. Bao, does this person have any background?” the newly hired vice president asked, confused.

This company had finally had an opening, and he had just gotten hired, but he didn’t expect that after just a few days, the boss would suddenly announce the sale of the company.

“It’s him, the boss who bought our company’s lab before! He’s probably looking to acquire another company to officially enter this industry!” Mr. Bao explained.

The two employees didn’t think the person buying the company would be Shen Fei, their old acquaintance!
