    Chapter 160: Afraid, Afraid!

Hearing a knock on the door, Hu Yuantai responded, “Come in!”

When he saw that it was Han Xinyan, he quickly stood up from his boss’s chair.

    “Sis-in-law, what brings you here?”

    “Mr. Hu…” Han Xinyan hesitated.

“Sis-in-law, please sit!” Hu Yuantai said warmly, with no sign of the demeanor expected of a boss.

    This puzzled Han Xinyan.

She could understand if others were like this, but Hu Yuantai, as a company boss, shouldn’t be acting this way. Even though Shen Fei had helped him in the past, it didn’t seem like enough to make him drop his boss’s attitude and treat her with such friendliness.

However, in the eyes of the second-generation heirs like Hu Yuantai and Jiang Tiancheng, Shen Fei was seen differently.

Apart from saving their lives and helping them make millions, Shen Fei’s intelligence and strategic thinking had left a strong impression on them, making them look up to him now.

“Mr. Hu, I’ve come to talk to you about something,” Han Xinyan got straight to the point.

“Hmm? What is it?” Hu Yuantai asked, puzzled.

“Mr. Hu, I want to resign,” Han Xinyan said firmly.

“Hmm? Is it because Fei Ge doesn’t want you to work here anymore?” Hu Yuantai wasn’t surprised by this.

After all, Shen Fei had become a wealthy man worth billions. With Shen Fei’s abilities, he would only continue to get richer. Han Xinyan, as his wife, would eventually leave his small company.

“No, it’s because of what happened yesterday at the Kaide Li Hotel. It seems that someone filmed it and posted it online. Now everyone in the company knows about it and they’ve been extra friendly to me… it’s just too much. It’s overwhelming and I don’t think I can handle it. For the sake of the company, I think resigning is the best option,” Han Xinyan explained honestly.

Hu Yuantai was a little surprised by this reason. He had known that when he went to the Kaide Li Hotel yesterday, things wouldn’t be peaceful in the company the next day, especially for Han Xinyan, who would become the center of attention.

This was just the way society was now, and he understood that. Usually, people would feel proud of the extra attention, but Han Xinyan felt uncomfortable and even chose to resign? It was a bit strange.

“Does Fei Ge know about this?” Hu Yuantai asked.

“He doesn’t know yet. I’ll tell him when I get back. He has wanted me to resign for a while, but I didn’t want to at that time,” Han Xinyan answered truthfully.

Hearing this, Hu Yuantai nodded, “Since you’ve made up your mind, then do as you wish.”

“Alright, Mr. Hu, I’ll hand over my work to the deputy manager and leave right away,” Han Xinyan said.

“Okay! Sis-in-law, as long as you want, the doors of Zhongtai Trade are always open for you!” Hu Yuantai said politely, even though he knew this wasn’t possible.

“Thank you, Mr. Hu!” Han Xinyan said, then left his office.

She found the deputy manager of the business department and handed over all her work. After working at Zhongtai Trade for several years, it was a bit hard for Han Xinyan to resign suddenly, but the chapter was now officially closed.

Unaware of Han Xinyan’s situation, Shen Fei left Z.G.C Restaurant and headed straight to the market. As for Tang Xingwen, Shen Fei trusted him completely.

When he got back to Yunhe Villa, Shen Fei immediately went into the kitchen and started working on new dishes.

By evening, when the little girl returned from kindergarten, she immediately smelled the delicious food as soon as she opened the door.

“Daddy! Yueyue’s mouth is watering!” she exclaimed as she ran towards the table, trying to climb onto a chair and staring eagerly at the food.

“Yueyue’s home! Go wash your hands first! After that, we can eat,” Shen Fei said with a smile as he walked out of the kitchen.

“Okay!” the little girl replied as she ran off to wash her hands.

As she did, Han Xinyan turned to Shen Fei and said, “Shen Fei, there’s something I need to tell you.”

After several nights of closeness, Han Xinyan was back in the loving mood she had when they were dating.

“Perfect timing! I also want to tell you something. Let’s eat first and talk afterward!” Shen Fei said.

He was very aware of Han Xinyan’s every move, and seeing that her expression was calm reassured him.

“Okay!” Han Xinyan replied with a faint smile.

At dinner, Han Xinyan quickly said, “Shen Fei, I’ve resigned!”

“Didn’t I tell you to resign before, and you didn’t want to? What made you change your mind?” Shen Fei teased.

“Yesterday’s incident—everyone in the company knows about it now! You don’t know, but people who never cared before are now treating me with extra enthusiasm! I’m overwhelmed, and you know how much I hate this, so I decided to just quit!” Han Xinyan explained.

Shen Fei nodded thoughtfully and smiled, “What a coincidence!”

“What coincidence? What is it that you wanted to tell me?” Han Xinyan asked, confused.

“It’s exactly what I wanted: for you to resign!” Shen Fei put down his chopsticks and teased, “Isn’t it perfect? I hadn’t even said anything, and you already quit! This is the kind of tacit understanding we have as a couple!”

“Stop joking! Now I’ll have to find a new job!” Han Xinyan felt a bit down.

“Don’t worry, when I said I wanted you to resign, it wasn’t so you could work for someone else!” Shen Fei said seriously.

“Huh? What do you mean?” Han Xinyan asked.

“I’m going to buy a company, and I want you to practice your skills!” Shen Fei said earnestly.

“What? You’re not joking, are you?” Han Xinyan exclaimed softly.

“I’m not joking! Marketing is your specialty!” Shen Fei nodded.

He paused for a moment before continuing, “This isn’t just an impulsive idea! The scar cream is almost ready for production. Even when we start manufacturing and selling it, we’ll need a factory and a company to handle it. We’ll need to set up our own management system to run things—it’s a lot of work!”

“But now, there’s a company with a solid operational system and management structure, plus they have their own factory for production and sales. If we acquire them, you can practice with their market style first, and later, we can better operate our own product!”

Han Xinyan was so focused on the scar cream that she asked, “So, is the scar cream almost ready?”

“Yes! It’s almost done! That’s why I want you to get some practice!” Shen Fei nodded.

“But I…” Han Xinyan hesitated. She had only learned theory at school and hadn’t had any hands-on experience.

“Don’t worry! I’m here to back you up! Just give it a try!” Shen Fei reassured her.

Han Xinyan, feeling a bit less anxious, changed the subject. “How much will it cost to acquire the company and the factory?”

“They’re small, so I estimate around two billion,” Shen Fei said.

“If it’s any more, I don’t mind negotiating with them.”

“Two billion?” Han Xinyan was shocked.

“Yes, it’s a small amount! Once the scar cream hits the market, we’ll quickly earn back the investment!” Shen Fei smiled.

“Let’s go check out the company tomorrow and see what we’re dealing with!”

Meanwhile, in the neighborhood where the Han family lived.

“Hey, why are so many people visiting the old Han house today?”

“Don’t you know? That gambling son-in-law of theirs is doing well now! Yesterday, their son got married, and the son-in-law invited a lot of wealthy people! I heard even the grandson of the old mayor was there! They’re really flaunting it!”

“Well, that luxury car parked downstairs must belong to that son-in-law!”

“I bet Mr. and Mrs. Han regret it now! When they first met their son-in-law, their faces were so dark! Even their daughter was scolded by Zhang Xiulian until she cried!”

“Yeah, and their daughter is so beautiful, yet they wanted to introduce her to a bald, over-forty CEO! I don’t know what they were thinking—were they trying to ruin their daughter’s life?”

“Exactly, the daughter seems to have gotten a good outcome after all! I heard yesterday she and her husband ignored the old Han couple completely. It’s well-deserved!”

The old men and women discussed it with great enthusiasm.

What they didn’t know was that Zhang Xiulian was standing not far away, listening to their mockery. She gritted her teeth in anger.

But no matter how humiliated she felt, these outsiders didn’t have the right to mock her!

With a stomp of her foot, Zhang Xiulian rushed toward the group of people!
