by MarineTLChapter 147: Let Go!
Zhong Qi walked out, cursing under his breath.
Seeing the two groups of young men still fighting, he kicked one of them hard.
“Hey! Stop it, all of you!”
“Who do you think you are, wandering swordsmen of ancient times?”
“Nowadays, no one rules the world with their fists! Cut it out, do you hear me?”
The heated fight was abruptly interrupted, and everyone turned to Zhong Qi in confusion.
“Who the hell are you?”
“What’s this got to do with you?”
The two leaders of the brawl shouted angrily in unison, but immediately looked disgusted at their own sync.
“Me? I’m your friendly neighborhood police officer!” Zhong Qi pulled out his badge and flashed it in front of their faces.
“Take a good look! Don’t stop now; keep fighting! Let’s see who gets their head cracked open first or ends up black and blue! You’re so tough, right? Well, the detention center is spacious enough for all of you! Try running out of the country, and I’ll put out a nationwide notice!”
Hearing Zhong Qi’s threats and seeing his badge, the fire in their hearts was instantly extinguished.
At this moment, Shen Fei also walked over. When he saw one of the group leaders, he scolded him outright:
“Han Lixin, have you lost your mind? Did you leave your brain behind in the detention center last time?”
Han Lixin was stunned to see Shen Fei and felt indignant at the reprimand. But for some reason—perhaps Shen Fei’s intimidating face—he didn’t dare talk back.
Zhong Qi, standing nearby, was shocked.
“Shen Fei, you know this kid?”
“Yes, he’s my brother-in-law,” Shen Fei replied before glaring at Han Lixin again.
“Do you have to keep worrying your sister? Is fighting such a great thing? Do you feel honored with your bruised face? Didn’t the 200,000 fine last time teach you a lesson?”
Han Lixin, feeling wronged, pointed at the green-haired young man on the other side.
“It’s because he disrespected your wife! Last time, it was his brother. Shen Fei, if you’re going to scold me, at least understand the situation!”
Shen Fei’s face turned cold.
“Is that true?”
Han Lixin nodded.
Without another word, Shen Fei suddenly turned and slapped the green-haired man across the face. A sharp sound echoed through the air.
The crowd froze, staring at Shen Fei in shock.
Before the green-haired man could react, Shen Fei kicked him hard, sending him staggering and falling to the ground.
“You bastard!” the green-haired man shouted furiously.
Being slapped and kicked within a minute was too much for him to bear, especially at the hands of Han Lixin’s brother-in-law—someone he considered a loser. If word got out, how would he maintain his reputation?
However, Shen Fei didn’t give him the chance to respond. He took a few steps forward, and before the man could get up, Shen Fei delivered three quick kicks.
Zhong Qi watched in astonishment. Shen Fei’s movements were clean and swift, like someone who had trained in martial arts. Could it be that Shen Fei had practiced before?
Just as Shen Fei was about to continue, Zhong Qi quickly stepped in and pulled him back.
“Shen Fei, what are you doing?”
Then Zhong Qi turned to the rest of the onlookers and barked,
“What are you all standing around for? Do you want me to take you to the police station for tea?”
Hearing this, the crowd scattered quickly. The green-haired man, realizing he was no match, left with the help of his friends, limping away.
“Let go,” Shen Fei said coldly.
After Zhong Qi released him, Shen Fei walked over to Han Lixin, who was still dumbfounded. He couldn’t believe what he had just witnessed. Was this really the gambling addict Shen Fei he used to know?
“Are you okay?” Shen Fei asked.
“I’m fine, just got hit on the back,” Han Lixin replied.
“On the back? You should still get checked at the hospital,” Shen Fei said seriously.
“It’s nothing; it doesn’t hurt,” Han Lixin mumbled.
“Lixin, tomorrow’s your big day, yet you’re here fighting? If you win, you’ll end up in the detention center. If you lose, you’ll land in the hospital. Which outcome do you prefer?” Shen Fei lectured.
In the past, Shen Fei wouldn’t have bothered to say such things. Back then, his relationship with Han Xinyan was strained, and angering Han Lixin would’ve only made reconciliation harder.
But things were different now. He and Han Xinyan had reconciled, which meant he could confidently scold Han Lixin. If words didn’t work, he’d resort to fists until Han Lixin got the point.
“Enough already! Just treat my sister well, and I’ll be grateful,” Han Lixin muttered impatiently. But his tone was much softer than before.
Seeing this, Shen Fei stopped nagging.
“Captain Zhong, what happens now?” he asked.
“What happens? They’re gone, so we’ll let it slide.” Zhong Qi sighed and teased,
“You’re something else, Shen Fei. I just said you could ask for my help anytime, and now you’ve already sent me a case! If they decide to file a complaint, I’ll have to deal with it.”
Despite his words, Zhong Qi didn’t seem worried. Over the years, he had received countless complaints, and writing self-criticism reports was a routine part of his job.
“Thanks, Captain Zhong. I owe you dinner sometime,” Shen Fei said with a smile.
Their conversation didn’t escape Han Lixin’s ears. He turned to Zhong Qi with wide eyes and blurted,
“Captain Zhong? Are you the Captain Zhong Qi—the one everyone’s been talking about online?”
Zhong Qi laughed and patted Han Lixin’s shoulder.
“Kid, your brother-in-law is pretty decent! Stop messing around.”
With that, Zhong Qi waved goodbye to Shen Fei.
“I’ll take my leave now.”
As Zhong Qi left, Han Lixin remained in a daze. He couldn’t understand how Shen Fei knew someone as famous as Zhong Qi.
It was like rolling dice and somehow getting a seven—completely unexpected!
