Chapter 65: The Superpowered Young Man

“How much did you sell?” Li Xuemei asked.

    Yan Yu replied cheerfully, “Sixty!”

Li Xuemei smiled, “That’s still far from ten or eighteen thousand. Maybe the wood itself is just valuable.”

Yan Yu quickly scanned the items on the shelves.

The vegetable section had changed again.

    [Wild Garlic—12.8] [Indian Aster—13.8] [Wild Amaranth—10] [Ground Cherry—8.8]

Yan Yu couldn’t help but sigh—the platform was really committed to offering wild vegetables.

Fortunately, there were the golden and adorable ground cherries.

This was the first time fruit had been stocked. Woo woo, so touching!

The quantity of rice, flour, and seasonings hadn’t doubled again as Yan Yu expected. Instead, an additional set was added to the existing two portions.

It seemed that clearing out the shelves only increased the supply by one each time.

    A bit disappointing.

Grains remained unchanged, but a new seasoning was added: [Rock Sugar—7.8]

A new bamboo product finally appeared: [Bamboo Fan—5]

The platform was truly thoughtful, taking care of them in every possible way.

After reporting the new product prices to her parents, Yan Yu opened the Free Market.

She thought she would see the punk uncle again, but to her surprise, it was the young man she hadn’t connected with last time.

“Younger brother!” Yan Yu’s eyes widened. “You…”

You don’t look too good. Even though you wiped it off, there were still traces of blood on your head and face.

    “Do you have water?”

    Yan Yu: …

You sure have good timing. If you’d asked yesterday, I would have coldly told you ‘no.’

    But now…

“Yes, how much do you need? What do you have to trade?”

The young man on the other end let out a sigh of relief, his shoulders visibly relaxing.

He swayed slightly, adjusting his position so Yan Yu could better see his surroundings.

    Yan Yu: …

I really don’t want to look!

    Live-streaming a bloody massacre!!!

Woo woo woo! I’m still a baby!

She covered her eyes, leaving only two tiny gaps.

“Wah wah wah! What is all that?! Younger brother, how could you just show me something so intense without warning?!”

Li Xuemei and Yan Lao’er immediately tensed up, anxiously asking from the side, “What did you see? Xiaoyu, exit the chat!”

“It’s all dead monsters! Blood everywhere! It’s even more intense than a movie! Scared me to death!” Yan Yu stomped her foot.

Her parents were slightly relieved—it wasn’t something inappropriate. But still, hearing her description: dead, monsters, blood everywhere…

    That was pretty intense!

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. I just wanted to show you that I’m currently inside a small supermarket. So, what do you need? All the food has been taken, but most of the remaining items are daily necessities.”

He truly didn’t do it on purpose. He was just so used to scenes like this that he forgot—someone on the other end might have only ever seen such things in movies.

He looked down, casually kicking away a zombie at his feet.

If mutant beasts were already unbearable, then zombies were definitely something best left unseen.

“How much water can I trade for? And… do you have any food?” He asked while moving through the supermarket, gathering empty containers to fill with water and carefully inspecting them one by one.

If he found any dirty ones, he stomped on them without hesitation, crushing them flat.

“It’d be best if it was something ready to eat,” he added somewhat awkwardly.

He rubbed his stomach—it was completely empty.

He hadn’t eaten in two days.

The platform did sell food, but in this environment, cooking was simply not an option.

Yan Yu hesitated. Their family had saved two bowls of white rice and some braised pork for Sister Yu.

“One bowl of rice and braised pork. I have a small creek nearby, so you can trade for as much water as you want.” As long as the platform approves the transaction.

The young man raised an eyebrow and smiled. “Looks like my luck isn’t bad today.”

Four mutant beasts had attacked him, and the sound of their fight had drawn in a swarm of zombies.

He was alone, yet not only did he survive the battle, but he also caught the platform’s opening window.

And this girl—he remembered she had mentioned before that her area was suffering from a severe drought.

Water must be incredibly scarce for her.

He hadn’t expected her to find a water source.

Seems like they were both pretty lucky.

No, actually—it was the platform that made them lucky.

“Can we trade the food first? I’m starving,” he said softly.

“Mm-hmm.” Yan Yu had already decided what she wanted: “I want shampoo!”

She held up the rice bowl, piled high with braised pork. She had kept it warm with hot water, so it was still steaming.

The young man walked over to the shampoo shelf and picked out a children’s shampoo for her—herbal and free of additives…

“Do you have a container ready?” He shook the bottle.

“I’ll use this.” She raised a bamboo tube. “What about you?”

The young man reached into his backpack and pulled out a stainless steel lunchbox.

After thinking for a moment, he said, “One bottle might not be enough. There are five bottles here—let’s see if we can trade them all.”

“Don’t make them all children’s shampoo!” Yan Yu hurriedly said. “Get some adult ones too. My parents need them.”

The young man complied, swapping out three bottles for adult shampoo.

However, during the transaction, he withdrew three bottles one by one.

Only then did the trade succeed.

So in the end, she got two bottles—both children’s shampoo.

She sealed the bamboo tube and set it aside.

Meanwhile, the young man started eating.

As he lowered his head, the bloodstains on his hair became even more visible.

    “Younger brother, are you hurt?”

“A minor injury. It’s nothing.” He met her concerned gaze and added, “I’ve awakened an ability. Normal wounds heal quickly.”

“An ability?!” Her eyes lit up.

    That’s so cool!

“What kind of ability? Metal, wood, water, fire, earth? Wind, lightning, ice, time, space?”

She spoke so fast that Li Xuemei didn’t even catch it. She turned to look at Yan Lao’er in confusion.

Yan Yu’s father shook his head—he was just as lost.

“It’s just a basic strength enhancement.”

Yan Yu suddenly remembered what the fairy-like lady had once said and eagerly asked, “Do you have any potions that can make someone stronger?”

    “I do.”

“But strength potions are ridiculously expensive in Hongxing Base City. If you want one, I can ask around for you when I reach Longdao Base City.”

“So you’ve left your original place and are heading somewhere new?”

The young man quickly finished the last few bites of his meal.

He didn’t want to explain what had happened to him.

“I have four water buckets. If I fill them all, what else do you want?”

“Shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, laundry detergent, bath scrubbers… Do you have underwear? I need some for both adults and kids.”

Yan Yu had come to realize how important hygiene products were—she never wanted to be scrubbed down by Big Sister Da again.

The young man started walking around the supermarket.

“There’s this shampoo bar—it might suit your era better.”

Yan Yu nodded. “Yes, that’s better than liquid shampoo. I’ll take that.”

“There’s soap, medicinal soap, and regular soap. Do you still need laundry detergent?”

Yan Yu agreed enthusiastically. “No need for laundry detergent—just give me more medicinal soap!”
