Chapter 17: Picking Up the Car at the 4S Dealership Tomorrow

    “Sorry, I’m late.”

Yang Dahai wiped the sweat off his forehead and said, slightly out of breath.

He had been delayed in the morning due to some matters and had taken the bus, which made him arrive only in the afternoon. After getting off the bus, he had run all the way to the company to get there faster.

Seeing that the visitor was Yang Dahai, Chen Mo was delighted—seems like the driver issue was about to be resolved. He quickly got up and pulled over a chair for Yang Dahai.

“It’s not off-work hours yet, you’re not late. Sit down and catch your breath.”

“No need, I can just stand.”

Yang Dahai glanced at his sweat-stained clothes, then at the clean chair, and quickly waved his hand.

“It’s fine, sit down. Otherwise, if we discuss things later with you standing and me sitting, I’ll have to look up at you while talking—I don’t like that.”

Seeing how reserved Yang Dahai was, Chen Mo joked.

Hearing this, Yang Dahai finally sat down, albeit only on the edge of the chair, with his back not touching the backrest.

Chen Mo noticed but understood that it was just Yang Dahai’s personality, so he didn’t say anything more.

At that moment, Shen Rou brought over two cups of water and handed them to them.

    “Thank you.”

Yang Dahai took the cup and quickly expressed his gratitude.

Chen Mo waited a bit, letting Yang Dahai catch his breath, before finally speaking.

“Yang, have you thought it over? Are you willing to join the company?”

“What procedures are required for employment? Do I have to pay anything?”

Yang Dahai thought for a moment and asked.

Before leaving home, his wife had repeatedly warned him—if they asked for money, he should just walk away.

“Don’t worry, you only need to sign an employment contract. There are no fees involved.”

“Shen Rou, bring the contract over for Yang to review.”

Chen Mo turned to call Shen Rou.

Soon, Shen Rou brought a contract and handed it to Yang Dahai.

Yang Dahai took the contract and awkwardly looked at Shen Rou.

“Miss, I can’t read this contract. Could you explain it to me?”

Seeing how careful Yang Dahai was, Shen Rou couldn’t help but feel a trace of sympathy. She glanced at Chen Mo, who nodded at her, so she smiled.

“Of course, I’ll explain it to you now.”

She then opened the contract and explained each clause one by one.

A long while later, Shen Rou closed the contract and looked at Yang Dahai.

“Yang, that’s everything in the contract. Do you have any questions?”

    “Thank you, miss.”

“I think I understand. As long as I sign this contract, I’m officially hired and can start working, right?”

Yang Dahai expressed his gratitude and then confirmed.

    “Yes!”

Shen Rou nodded with a smile.

    “Then I’ll sign.”

    Yang Dahai nodded hurriedly.

He had been looking for a job for a long time but hadn’t found anything suitable due to various reasons. Meanwhile, household expenses were piling up, so he didn’t want to miss this opportunity.

Most importantly, these two young people in front of him seemed kind and trustworthy—not like scammers.

    “Alright.”

Shen Rou nodded, guiding Yang Dahai as he signed the contract.

    “Welcome aboard!”

Seeing that the contract was signed, Chen Mo clapped his hands in congratulations, then immediately shifted the topic.

“Yang, give me your bank account details so I can transfer your salary for this month.”

“But I haven’t officially started working yet.”

Yang Dahai asked, puzzled. Normally, wages were paid a month later.

“Oh, our company’s policy is different. We pay salaries upfront. If you don’t believe me, you can ask her.”

Chen Mo gestured toward Shen Rou.

“That’s right, Yang. We all get paid in advance here.”

    Shen Rou smiled.

After spending the morning learning more about the company, she finally understood that what she had received wasn’t a salary advance—it was just how the company operated.

All the other employees in the workshop were the same.

Knowing this, any lingering wariness she had toward Chen Mo completely disappeared.

He wasn’t after anything shady—it was just how the company ran.

    A truly unique policy.

While other companies tried to delay paying employees, this one did the opposite, paying upfront.

But it was precisely because of this policy that her crisis had been resolved.

Thinking about this, Shen Rou couldn’t help but smile.

    “Is that so?”

Yang Dahai still didn’t quite understand, but he handed over his bank details.

Chen Mo transferred ¥8,400 directly to his account.

Looking at the bank notification showing a transfer of ¥8,400, Yang Dahai was so overwhelmed that he couldn’t speak.

He pinched himself, and only when he felt pain did he realize this wasn’t a dream.

The money had actually been transferred.

And it was over ¥8,000—a salary he hadn’t dared to dream of since injuring his back.

But then he noticed something—his salary seemed ¥400 higher than expected.

Quickly, he looked up at Chen Mo.

“Mr. Chen, the salary is ¥400 more than it should be.”

    “Oh, that’s the full-attendance bonus.”

Chen Mo explained casually while thinking to himself—he should make a salary policy chart for new hires to see. Explaining this every time was getting tedious.

Shen Rou, watching this unfold, smiled. Wasn’t this exactly what had happened to her in the morning?

Hearing the explanation, Yang Dahai nodded—he understood what a full-attendance bonus was.

“So, Mr. Chen, what car will I be driving?”

“A car? The company doesn’t have one yet. Tomorrow, come with me to the 4S dealership to pick one up.”

Chen Mo then turned to Shen Rou.

    “You come along too.”

    “Okay!”

    Shen Rou nodded.

    Knock, knock, knock…

The office door was knocked on again.

    “Come in.”

As the voice fell, a man peeked in.

“Excuse me, who is Mr. Chen? The office desks and chairs you ordered have arrived. Where should we put them?”

“Move them to the hall for now.”

Chen Mo thought for a moment and replied.

Before long, twelve sets of office desks and chairs filled the hall.

“Mr. Chen, I’ve called everyone over.”

Li Shen approached, followed by more than a dozen employees.

“Alright, please move out the old furniture from the offices and then unpack and set up the new ones.”

    “Got it, Mr. Chen!”

Li Shen quickly instructed the gathered employees to remove the old desks and chairs from the offices.

    “I’ll help too!”

Seeing this, Yang Dahai stepped up to assist.

Though he had a back injury, carrying desks and chairs was still manageable.

    Ring, ring, ring!

    Suddenly, the phone rang.

Chen Mo glanced at the caller ID—it was Wei Yan.

    He answered.

Soon, Wei Yan’s voice came through.

“Mr. Chen, I’ve sent the price list for the computer configurations to your WeChat. Please take a look.”

Hearing this, Chen Mo immediately opened WeChat.

His eyes skipped past the lowest price tiers and landed straight on the highest-priced option.

    ¥43,000 per unit.

Twelve units would be over ¥500,000.

Chen Mo was thrilled—this would burn through over half a million yuan in one go, making a significant dent in the ¥2 million spending goal!

As he was pondering, Wei Yan spoke again.

“Mr. Chen, based on my understanding, if it’s just for office work, the ¥7,000+ configuration is more than enough—it’s the best value for money.”
