Barbecue, fried noodles, fried chicken, beer, and a large strawberry mille-feuille cake.
After passing by a street of snacks, Shen Fei bought some food and then returned home.
“You’re back so early tonight?”
Hearing the door, Han Xinyan, who had been interacting with Shen Jiayue, turned around.
“I was just chatting casually with the old man and Mr. Jiang. I was worried about you guys, so I came back early!” Shen Fei smiled, waving the cake box he was holding in his left hand.
“Jiayue, see what Daddy bought for you?”
“Wow, strawberry cake! Jiayue loves strawberries!”
Shen Jiayue quickly crawled out from Han Xinyan’s arms and ran toward Shen Fei with small steps.
“Daddy, what’s in this jar?”
“That’s for Daddy and Mommy to drink. Little kids can only have milk!” Shen Fei smiled and patted Shen Jiayue’s little head.
At this point, Han Xinyan noticed the large bags in Shen Fei’s hands.
“What did you buy?” she asked in confusion.
“These are all your favorites—fried chicken with beer, barbecue with the starch you love, and fried noodles!” Shen Fei proudly took the food out of the bags.
“I can’t believe it, after so long, you still remember what I like to eat!” Han Xinyan felt touched, her nose slightly sour.
Since their third year of dating, Shen Fei had started remembering these little details. After so many years, Han Xinyan was genuinely surprised that Shen Fei had bought these things for her.
“Of course, from now on, I’ll always remember everything you like to eat!” Shen Fei said seriously, his heart full of guilt.
Then, Shen Fei opened a can of beer and handed it to Han Xinyan.
A warm feeling filled Han Xinyan’s heart again. She sniffed, holding back the tears in her eyes, and smiled.
“Thank you!”
After taking a small sip of beer, she casually asked, “What did the old man say when he asked you to have dinner?”
“It was nothing!” Shen Fei paused, shrugged helplessly, and changed the subject.
“By the way, I told the old man about my plans to set up a factory to produce scar-healing ointment and asked if he could help speed up the paperwork process!”
Shen Fei picked up a piece of fried noodles and fed it to Han Xinyan.
Seeing this, Han Xinyan hesitated but took a small bite.
“So, what did the old man say?”
“He said as long as everything we do meets the standards, everything else is negotiable!” Shen Fei smiled, his eyes full of warmth.
“Mm! The Jiang family really helped you a lot this time!”
Before, they couldn’t even raise a thousand yuan, but now, she could hear Shen Fei talking about setting up a factory.
The change was so quick that Han Xinyan felt a bit emotional.
Shen Fei smiled and said, “They did help a lot!”
But it was actually him helping the Jiang family!
—
The evening grew darker.
Shen Fei continued talking with Han Xinyan, and although they didn’t go further than chatting, he was already content with the progress they made.
The next day.
A black Mercedes-Benz stopped at the Great Windmill Kindergarten, which wasn’t unusual.
However, the car belonged to the Shen family, and that was quite a spectacle!
The kindergarten teachers and parents were all very surprised. They clearly remembered that just a few days ago, this family’s vehicle was a broken electric scooter!
At once, envious, jealous, and suspicious looks were cast at the Shen family of three.
Shen Fei completely ignored their speculations and took Han Xinyan to Zhongtai Trading before driving to Qiankun Group.
“Hello, I’m here to see General Manager Jiang!”
At the front desk, Shen Fei went straight to the point.
“Are you Mr. Shen Fei?” The receptionist asked in confusion.
Last night, General Manager Jiang had personally told her that a Mr. Shen Fei would come the next day, so she had been nervous all morning, worried about making a mistake.
“Yes!” Shen Fei nodded slightly.
Luckily, the receptionist recognized him as the person Jiang had mentioned.
“Alright! Mr. Shen, please follow me!” The receptionist smiled politely.
In the restroom on the way to the elevator.
“Look, Xiulian, that young man, doesn’t he look so much like your daughter’s husband?”
The woman speaking was a neighbor of Zhang Xiulian.
She had heard a lot about Shen Fei from Zhang Xiulian and had seen him a few times, so she recognized him somewhat.
“Hey, hey, hey, let me make it clear, that gambler is not our Han family’s son-in-law! And with his gambling and drinking habits, does he deserve to come to Qiankun Group? Does he deserve to be escorted by the receptionist? Don’t you know that the people brought by the receptionist are either rich or powerful? What does that gambler have?” Zhang Xiulian quickly looked up and coldly snorted after hearing the woman’s words.
She examined the young man’s back, repeatedly.
She really couldn’t believe Shen Fei could amount to anything successful.
“You’re right! But he really looks like him!” The neighbor teased.
“What’s the use of looking alike? That gambler keeps pestering my daughter to not divorce him! If she could, she’d remarry a rich man, and who would still be cleaning?” Zhang Xiulian fumed with anger.
“I agree! Your daughter is beautiful, and she has a good temper! If she were single, all the rich young men would be after her!” The neighbor chimed in.
“Exactly! This damn girl is driving me crazy!” Zhang Xiulian got angrier as she thought about it, her hatred for Shen Fei growing deeper.
—
Meanwhile, Shen Fei arrived at the 24th floor meeting room with the receptionist.
The door opened, and a man and a woman had already been waiting inside.
It was Jiang Rou and You Ziyang.
As soon as they saw Shen Fei, they quickly stood up and greeted him with a smile, “Hello, Mr. Shen!”
“General Manager Jiang, long time no see!” Shen Fei said faintly.
“Mr. Shen, you’re joking. It’s only been three or four days!” Jiang Rou smiled politely, but the smile didn’t reach her eyes.
“Mr. Shen, this is our group’s Secretary-General, You Ziyang!”
“Hello, Mr. You!”
Shen Fei sat down and went straight to the point.
“Let’s not waste time. Will you meet my price?”
“Mr. Shen, don’t you think this price is a bit too high? I know that when you bought Lijiazhuang, you only spent over 80 million. Now you want to increase it tenfold in just a few days! Doesn’t that seem a bit like asking too much?” You Ziyang squinted, his sharp eyes fixed on Shen Fei as he smiled.
“This price is what I decided after careful consideration! As for asking too much, can I say that you guys never do business without being cunning?” Shen Fei shifted to a more comfortable position and continued calmly.
“This land is in my hands now. It’s you who want to buy, not me who wants to sell!”
