Chapter 59: The Old Man Wants to See You!

If this were before, Shen Fei would have definitely let his alcohol-fueled temper loose, venting on Zhang Xiulian and Han Jian. He might have even gotten physical. After all, he had always known that Zhang Xiulian looked down on him and never truly considered him as a son-in-law.

But after being reborn and living an extra twenty years, Shen Fei had gained a much clearer perspective on people.

He understood the timeless rule: never strike a smiling face.

So, even though Zhang Xiulian was glaring at him now, Shen Fei remained calm.

“What am I doing?” Zhang Xiulian snapped. “I’m here to teach my blind daughter a lesson! I shouldn’t have softened my heart and let this foolish girl marry you, a useless good-for-nothing! All you do is drink and gamble—what else can you do?”

“Look at her friends, they’re all marrying better and better! They’re always eating and drinking well or traveling all over the country and the world! And look at her, all she does is get beaten and work hard for a living! What kind of life is that?”

“With her looks, she could easily find a rich and handsome man, but why did she choose you? You have nothing and you’re so temperamental! I’m telling you, Shen Fei, if you were a real man, you’d leave her willingly!”

“Otherwise, I’ll keep coming here to stir things up, and I want to see how you two can keep living like this!”

Zhang Xiulian vented all her anger at Shen Fei.

“Enough, Mom! When will you be finished? I’m telling you now, even if Shen Fei wants a divorce, I, Han Xinyan, won’t agree! Unless I’m dead, you can forget about it!”

Han Xinyan broke down, screaming in desperation. She couldn’t take it anymore.

    “Sis! You…”

Seeing Han Xinyan like this, Han Lixin’s eyes reddened with guilt.

If he hadn’t told their parents where his sister was living…

It was all because of this bastard!

“Ah Yan, you’re emotional right now, let me handle this!” Shen Fei quickly intervened.

Han Xinyan, with tear-streaked cheeks, looked at Shen Fei.

“Shen Fei, are you even a man? She wants me to divorce you! You should stand firm!”

This was exactly what Shen Fei had hoped for.

He was reborn to live a fulfilling life with his wife and children.

If he couldn’t protect Han Xinyan, what was the point of being reborn?

So he nodded firmly, took a deep breath, and looked at Zhang Xiulian.

    “Mom, I…”

“What do you mean ‘I’? I’m telling you, hurry up and divorce Han Xinyan!” Zhang Xiulian said harshly.

At that moment, Shen Fei no longer bothered with polite words. He looked at Zhang Xiulian coldly and spoke in a deep voice, “In the end, this is all about money, right?”

“Yes, it’s about money, so what? Can you, a gambler, even pull out a hundred bucks from your pocket?” Zhang Xiulian mocked Shen Fei.

“Heh, not just that…” Shen Fei said as he took out a bank card from his wallet and threw it onto the table.

“There’s 500,000 in here! If you want money, take it! Consider it compensation for these years.”

“Shen Fei, do you even know what you’re saying? Do you have 500,000? Isn’t that a joke?” Zhang Xiulian sneered, full of disdain.

“Do you think I’m easy to fool? With your gambling habits, if you had 500,000, would you still be staying at home? You’d be at the casino living it up!”

Shen Fei wasn’t planning on explaining much. He said flatly, “If you don’t believe me, take the card and check at the bank. The password is Ah Yan’s birthday plus the last two digits of her ID number.”

“If there’s no money in the card, you can do whatever you want with me.”

Shen Fei spoke firmly, making Zhang Xiulian hesitate.

    “Is this for real?”

    “For real!” Shen Fei nodded.

“Fine! I’ll trust you once more! But if you lie to me, you’ll pay the consequences!”

With that, Zhang Xiulian picked up the card and started inspecting it carefully.

“Mom, put the card down! If not, I’ll sever ties with you!” Han Xinyan shouted.

She didn’t know where the money came from, but she was sure this was all of Shen Fei’s wealth!

If her mom took it, Shen Fei would be left with nothing!

And their family’s fleeting hope would be gone.

“What’s wrong with me holding onto it? It’s better than that gambler spending it all at the casino!” Zhang Xiulian said impatiently, glaring at Han Xinyan, then happily pocketing the card.

“Mom, give it back to that bastard! Our family doesn’t want his dirty money!” Han Lixin reached out to grab the card from Zhang Xiulian’s pocket.

But Zhang Xiulian wasn’t going to let go of the opportunity so easily. One hand firmly held the pocket, and the other grabbed Han Jian.

    “Old Han, let’s go!”

Having failed to grab the card, Han Lixin’s eyes turned red with anger.

“Damn it! I don’t want to stay in this shitty family for another second!”

Then, lowering his gaze, he spoke hoarsely, “Sis, don’t worry, I’ll get the card back!”

Not daring to look at Han Xinyan, Han Lixin turned and left.

    The room fell silent.

Han Xinyan slumped to the floor, hugging her knees, crying out loud.

After closing the door, Shen Fei quickly walked over and hugged Han Xinyan.

    “I… I…”

“Why is my life so miserable!” Han Xinyan sobbed.

“Ah Yan, don’t be afraid! It will never happen again!” Shen Fei’s nose tingled, his heart heavy with bitterness.

“Mommy, don’t cry! Yueyue will wipe your tears!” Shen Jiayue walked over in small steps, imitating Shen Fei, and hugged Han Xinyan’s arm.

It took Shen Fei two hours to calm down the mother and daughter, who had been crying uncontrollably.

Looking at Han Xinyan’s swollen eyes and Jiayue’s red nose, Shen Fei felt a deep sense of sorrow.

Ah Yan, just wait a little longer!

Soon, he would make Han Xinyan’s parents regret it!

    Just then.

As Shen Fei lay on the bed, his phone vibrated.

    “Tian Cheng, what’s up?”

“Bro Fei, sorry to disturb you so late!” Jiang Tiancheng apologized.

Then, he got straight to the point.

“Old Master wants to see you! Do you have time tomorrow? Bro Fei, I swear I told Old Master I’d make sure to bring you over!”

    “…”

Shen Fei was silent for a long time, his mind racing.

Without a doubt, Jiang Tiancheng must have let slip about his plan to short the Kong Group!

Otherwise, why would Old Master specifically want to meet him?

It was likely that the supervisory office knew a bit about the situation too!

“Bro Fei, I’m sorry! I’ve got a big mouth! But about tomorrow…”

Jiang Tiancheng’s voice was humble, pleading.

“Alright, come pick me up tomorrow!” Shen Fei finally replied.

Shen Fei actually wanted to meet Jiang Anbang, but he didn’t expect the opportunity to come so soon!
