    Chapter 350: Payment

“Director Li, I was wondering when the payment might be settled?”

    Uh…

Li Tianyang froze for a moment, caught off guard.

The corners of his mouth twitched slightly before he finally came to his senses and replied, “The payment will be transferred to you shortly, no need to worry about that.”

“In that case, I’ll take my leave.”

With that, Chen Mo stood up and walked out. Since filming was done and the payment would be sent later, there was no reason to stay any longer.

After a full day of shooting, all he wanted now was to go home and rest.

Seeing this, Shen Rou quickly followed after him.

Li Tianyang watched Chen Mo’s departing figure, his expression shifting.

    He had guessed wrong.

Thinking back on his earlier assumptions, his face turned a bit awkward.

    “Director Li.”

Linda called out with concern, noticing his expression.

    “Ah!”

Li Tianyang snapped out of it and glanced at Linda.

“Right, go ahead and transfer Chen Mo’s payment in a bit.”

With that, he walked off in quick strides.

He did appreciate young people who carried themselves with confidence, but Chen Mo gave off the feeling that he didn’t take him seriously at all.

    Still…

Interesting young men like this were hard to come by.

If the opportunity arose, and if his character proved solid, he might be worth nurturing.

    Outside the Mingri Group headquarters.

A car slowly pulled up to the curb.

Two figures stepped out quickly. One of them, a slightly balding man, rushed to the trunk and pulled out a pile of gift boxes.

“Wang Yang, take these gifts. You’re going to visit President Chen—how can you show up empty-handed?”

Supervisor Qi Bu shoved all the gifts into Wang Yang’s arms.

“Brother Qi, I already prepared something.”

Wang Yang looked helplessly at the gifts Qi Bu was handing over.

Two days ago, he had casually mentioned that he planned to visit President Chen today. He hadn’t expected Supervisor Qi Bu to not only offer to drive him but also prepare so many gifts.

    “What did you prepare?”

Qi Bu eyed Wang Yang’s empty hands with obvious skepticism.

    “I prepared a red envelope.”

    Wang Yang answered honestly.

Qi Bu’s forehead immediately darkened. Without another word, he pushed Wang Yang toward the building entrance.

“Enough talk, just get inside. And listen, these gifts aren’t from you personally—they’re from the company. So when you present them, be careful how you phrase it. Also… that red envelope of yours? Best not to bring it out.”

Ever since he learned Wang Yang planned to visit President Chen of Mingri Group, he’d started preparing.

This was a rare chance to make a good impression on President Chen—no way he was going to miss it.

Besides, Wang Yang had just entered the workforce. He didn’t know the ins and outs of social etiquette yet. If he gave the wrong kind of gift and offended President Chen, that would be a real problem.

And now, it seemed he’d been absolutely right to step in.

Giving a red envelope to the president of a major corporation? How much would you even put in there?

This was a company worth hundreds of millions. What use would President Chen have for a little red envelope from a rookie?

    Young and inexperienced—just as expected.

Qi Bu sighed inwardly but also felt relieved. Good thing he’d planned ahead.

Wang Yang, now pushed into the building, looked down at the pile of gifts in his arms and listened to Supervisor Qi Bu’s words. After a moment, he nodded.

    So it’s from the company?

Alright then, I’ll just deliver it on the company’s behalf. President Chen probably won’t mind.

“Hurry on in. I’ll wait for you in the car.”

Supervisor Qi Bu watched Wang Yang head toward the elevator, a warm smile on his face.

He’d been urging Wang Yang to build a relationship with President Chen for a while now. Today, the kid had finally come around.

    Mingri Group,

    CEO’s Office.

Chen Mo glanced at the System Panel in his mind and couldn’t help but smile.

The payment from yesterday’s magazine shoot had already been deposited into his account and now counted as personal assets.

His total personal wealth had now reached 320,000 yuan.

    A new record.

As expected, the real money was in side gigs.

He still had eleven songs left to deal with. He needed to find a reliable singer to collaborate with. That would definitely bring in a decent income too.

“President Chen, Wang Yang is at the front desk. He’d like to see you.”

Shen Rou walked in from the adjacent office.

    Wang Yang?

    What’s he here for?

Chen Mo was a little puzzled, but he had a good impression of Wang Yang. After all, the guy had once given him a red envelope.

“Alright, have the front desk bring him up.”

    “Yes, President Chen.”

Shen Rou turned and quickly headed back to her office to inform the front desk.

    Not long after,

There was a knock at the door. Then Wang Yang walked in, carrying a large pile of gifts.

    “Hello, President Chen!”

Wang Yang stepped in carefully, gifts in hand.

Even though he had been in charge of renovating this office building, seeing the grandeur of the CEO’s office up close still made him feel a bit nervous.

He had personally witnessed President Chen’s rise—from running a small clothing factory to building an entire corporate group.

After all, he himself had been involved in the renovations every step of the way, starting from the very first employee cafeteria to the final group office building.

“So, what brings you here today?”

Chen Mo casually glanced at the gift bag in Wang Yang’s hand, then asked the question even though he already knew the answer.

Wang Yang looked down at the gifts he was holding, then recalled what Supervisor Qi Bu had told him on the way up. Smiling, he replied, “President Chen, with the Dragon Boat Festival coming up and all, we at Chenglin Decoration just wanted to show our appreciation for how well you’ve treated us.”

As he spoke, he handed over the gift bag.

“You guys, always so polite. No need for all this. It’s too extravagant!”

Chen Mo gave a polite smile as he accepted the gifts and set them down on the nearby table.

Out of the corner of his eye, he gave the items a quick once-over. There was liquor, cigarettes, and a few other things that looked pretty expensive. But curiously, there wasn’t a single red envelope.

The gifts weren’t cheap by any means, but he didn’t drink or smoke.

Wang Yang was definitely going off script this time. Why no red envelope?

Could it be that he’d given him too many orders lately, and Wang Yang felt it would be inappropriate to give cash? So instead, he opted for these gifts?

With that thought, Chen Mo looked up at Wang Yang, who was still standing nearby.

“Don’t just stand there, have a seat. You must be thirsty.”

As he spoke, he poured a glass of warm water and handed it over.

“President Chen, you really didn’t have to…”

Wang Yang quickly took the glass and carefully sat down. He had been watching President Chen’s expression closely the whole time.

Although President Chen didn’t seem displeased, he definitely wasn’t as warm as last time.

Wang Yang clearly remembered that after giving the red envelope during his previous visit, President Chen had enthusiastically offered him coffee and even chatted at length about renovation plans.

Thinking of that, Wang Yang reached into his pocket and touched the red envelope he had prepared. Even though Supervisor Qi Bu had told him not to bring it out, he couldn’t shake the feeling that it might be better to go ahead and give it.

Besides, the gifts were from the company. He hadn’t personally given anything yet.

After a brief moment of hesitation, he made up his mind.

    “President Chen.”
