Chapter 78 – Elite Lawyer, Legal Education

    The next day,

    Morning,

    Changfeng Clothing Factory.

Tang Qiu glanced around the office and noticed that the setup had changed since her last visit.

The computers, desks and chairs, even the potted plants — none of them were cheap.

President Chen really doesn’t mind spending money on himself, huh…

“This is the contract. Please take a look, Lawyer Tang. If there are no issues, we can go ahead and sign.”

Once Tang Qiu was seated, Chen Mo pushed the already-prepared contract over to her.

Tang Qiu took the contract and began reviewing it carefully.

After a while, she frowned slightly and looked up at Chen Mo.

“President Chen, the contract is generally fine, but there’s a small detail that should be amended.”

“Oh? What’s the issue?” Chen Mo looked at her, puzzled. All his employees had signed this exact contract.

“No need to worry, President Chen. It’s just a minor loophole, nothing serious,” Tang Qiu said calmly. “It’s about our company’s policy of paying salaries at the beginning of the month. The contract states that the salary for the current month will be paid at the start of the month, but it doesn’t specify what happens if an employee resigns before the month ends.”

“So I suggest we add a clause stating that if an employee resigns before completing a full month, they must return the portion of the salary corresponding to the unworked days.”

“Otherwise, someone could exploit the loophole by having people join and resign just to get free money.”

As she spoke, she picked up a pen and wrote a clause under one of the existing provisions, then handed the contract back to Chen Mo.

“Add the section I wrote in, print a new copy, and I’ll sign it.”

Chen Mo took the contract, read the clause she had added — it was reasonable and not too harsh. He had no choice but to hand it over to Shen Rou to revise and print a new version.

Tang Qiu hadn’t even officially started yet, and she’d already closed a loophole that could cost the company money.

Chen Mo started to doubt whether hiring Tang Qiu was truly the right call.

A moment later, Shen Rou brought over the revised and reprinted contract.

Tang Qiu reviewed it again, then signed once she confirmed everything was in order.

She was now officially an employee of the company.

“President Chen, may I ask where my workstation is?”

Having signed the contract, Tang Qiu looked at Chen Mo and asked. Now that she was officially hired, she naturally wanted to get to work.

    Chen Mo stiffened.

He’d been so focused on recruiting Tang Qiu and using up the system’s funds that he completely forgot to prepare her workspace. There were still some empty offices at the factory, but the company’s finance, accounting, and HR departments were all still working from home.

After thinking for a moment, he looked at Tang Qiu and said a little awkwardly, “Lawyer Tang, we don’t currently have an available office. How about you work from home for the time being?”

“Don’t worry, we’ll provide food and housing stipends for remote work.”

Tang Qiu’s expression turned a bit strange.

She was finding it harder and harder to understand this boss. He spent big to bring her on board, then immediately told her to work from home.

Logically speaking, if a company spends a lot of money to hire someone, shouldn’t they try to get every ounce of value out of them?

But not Chen Mo. He didn’t even assign her any tasks and just told her to work remotely.

“President Chen, there must be something I can do — maybe risk assessments or something like that?”

Chen Mo thought about it. Spending so much on hiring Tang Qiu and then assigning her no work at all might be considered slacking off by the system.

“How about this, Lawyer Tang — the company doesn’t have any pressing legal matters right now, but most of our employees haven’t had much education.”

“Why don’t you prepare a legal education session in a few days to help our employees better understand relevant laws and regulations?”

“Legal outreach? Got it. I’ll start compiling the material.”

Tang Qiu nodded. It was indeed important for a company to educate its staff on legal matters.

“It’s still early, Lawyer Tang. You can ask Assistant Shen to show you around the company.”

    “Much appreciated.”

Tang Qiu nodded. Now that she was part of the company, it was only right to get familiar with the environment.

    Employee Cafeteria

“Uncle Wang, how’s that new access door working out? Only employees with company ID cards can get in now. Plus, I’ll be upgrading the system periodically, so even if someone picks up a card, it won’t work for long.”

“No outsiders sneaking in lately, right?”

Li Shen sat across from Wang Maonian and asked.

“You really know your stuff. Ever since we installed that access door, no other factory employees have made it in.”

Wang Maonian sighed with relief. Ever since the cafeteria started running, people from other factories had been sneaking in.

Meals were manageable since their own shop-floor employees would spot intruders quickly. The real headache was when some of them snuck upstairs to the lounge while he was busy cooking downstairs.

Sure, relaxing a bit was fine, but at least be respectful. They’d toss cigarette butts on the floor, damage the facilities, even steal things.

One day, a staff member went upstairs after work and found a missing billiard ball, a table tennis paddle gone, and another one damaged — looked like it had been used to smash something.

They checked the security footage and found the culprit, but the industrial park was too big, and they never managed to catch the guy.

Luckily, President Chen had a good temper. When Wang reported the incident, Chen just asked him to have Li Shen replace all the damaged and missing items.

But ever since the access door was installed, things had been much more peaceful — no more outsiders sneaking in.

“Knowing what to do isn’t enough. It takes real leadership. That access door wasn’t cheap, but President Chen approved it without a second thought.”

    Li Shen looked genuinely impressed.

“True. President Chen is great in every way — except that morning exercise is too brutal. You have no idea. I’ve lost over ten pounds already.”

Wang Maonian grumbled, then suddenly thought of something.

“There’s still one more issue with the cafeteria that I think we need to solve.”

    “Oh? What problem?”

Li Shen perked up. Ever since becoming head of the purchasing and life departments, his daily life had gotten a whole lot easier.
