Chapter 201: Is Your Product Legitimate?

After the meal, most of the dishes on the table had been cleared, indicating how much both Yu Guotu and Jiang Anbang enjoyed the dishes Shen Fei had prepared. Shen Fei accepted their constant praise with a smile.

Once tea had been served, Yu Guotu got straight to the point.

“Xiao Shen, can you tell me about your scar-healing ointment? I don’t normally follow the beauty industry, but even I’ve heard about it! I even overheard people talking about it after work.”

Yu Guotu’s interest in the ointment didn’t surprise Shen Fei at all. After all, even if Yu hadn’t asked, Old Master Jiang would likely have brought it up. What did surprise him was that news about the product had spread even to government offices.

“Mr. Yu, feel free to ask me directly,” Shen Fei replied calmly.

“Alright! Since you’re being open about it, let’s get to the point!” Yu Guotu leaned forward, his tone serious. “Is your product legitimate?”

“It’s absolutely legitimate!” Shen Fei responded confidently. “If my product were some kind of scam, do you think Old Master Jiang would’ve helped me with the permits? Besides, in today’s internet-driven world, any scam would quickly be exposed by the public. Do you think I’d go to all this trouble just to betray my conscience? Would it be worth it?”

“Mr. Yu, I, Shen Fei, may not always act perfectly, but I would never do anything to betray the trust of people like the old leaders who have supported me.”

Hearing this, Yu Guotu nodded in satisfaction. It was clear that he wasn’t entirely swayed by the office gossip, but the exaggerated rumors had caused him to feel some doubts.

“Shen Fei is trustworthy,” Jiang Anbang chimed in. “The fact that I went out of my way to use my old connections to help him proves that I trust him.”

“I get that, Xiao Shen. But does it matter if I believe you? What about the public? Your claims about this scar-healing ointment are pretty bold. Can it really deliver visible results in just one week?” Yu Guotu pressed further, his expression serious.

“Absolutely, Mr. Yu!” Shen Fei replied with unwavering confidence. “Our claims aren’t exaggerated. In fact, we’re being modest. Clinical trials have shown that noticeable improvements can occur in under five days!”

Yu Guotu was stunned into silence for a moment. If Shen Fei’s claims were true, then the implications were enormous. It could dominate the skincare market, boost the local economy, and potentially gain international recognition.

“This is incredible! If the results are as effective as you say, it will certainly cause a massive sensation and take over the beauty market,” Yu Guotu exclaimed in awe.

“That’s true,” Shen Fei said with a slight smile. “But that’s just how markets work. If competitors can’t keep up, they can’t blame us for being better, right?”

“I also heard your product comes in three price ranges?” Yu Guotu asked curiously.

“Yes, to meet the needs of different customers and ensure everyone can afford it,” Shen Fei replied earnestly.

Yu Guotu was visibly surprised. He understood that businesses are inherently profit-driven, and a product with such groundbreaking effects could easily sell at much higher prices. Yet Shen Fei had deliberately set affordable price points, sacrificing short-term profits.

Most entrepreneurs would never give up such massive earnings, but Shen Fei had done so, and his reasoning was sincere.

“As the economy grows and people’s incomes increase, the price may naturally adjust with market conditions,” Shen Fei explained. “But any changes will always remain reasonable and acceptable.”

Yu Guotu’s admiration for Shen Fei deepened. His political instincts told him that the ointment would trigger a major trend. It would likely dominate the domestic market and gain global recognition, and Shen Fei’s calm confidence showed he had already anticipated this outcome.

“Shen Fei, once this product hits the market, you’re going to attract a lot of unwanted attention from rival businesses. Are you ready for that?” Jiang Anbang asked, his tone heavy with concern.

Business and politics were full of ruthless competition. Many promising companies had been crushed by competitors after briefly shining in the spotlight.

“I understand your worries, Old Master,” Shen Fei replied with a smile. “But I can’t predict the future. All I can say is, as long as I’m here, the ointment will keep being produced. If anyone tries to attack my business, I’ll deal with it. And if worst comes to worst, I have you two to back me up, right?”

Shen Fei raised an eyebrow playfully, surprising both men.

“Don’t worry, Xiao Shen!” Yu Guotu said seriously. “With your integrity and your commitment to helping others, I will firmly stand by your side, as long as you follow the law. The city of Shenzhen will always support you.”

“Same here,” Jiang Anbang added. “Even though I’m retired, I still have some influence in Shenzhen. But remember, Shen Fei, you must act responsibly. Don’t do anything that harms others or yourself.”

“I understand,” Shen Fei replied solemnly.

The room fell silent for a moment before Yu Guotu spoke again.

“By the way, Xiao Shen, do you have any plans to move your company’s headquarters?”

Given the ointment’s potential, it wouldn’t be long before other cities tried to lure Shen Fei’s company away.

“Move headquarters?” Shen Fei paused thoughtfully before laughing. “If they want the horse to run, they have to feed it well. How could I abandon the city that’s supported me?”
