Make Money C36
by MarineTLChapter 36: Just Follow the Listed Price for the Acquisition
The younger employees might not have much of an issue, but the company still had quite a few older employees with families to support. If they suddenly lost their jobs and had no source of income, how would they survive?
Although he could offer some compensation, that was not a long-term solution!
—
The next day,
10 a.m.
Innovation Building.
“Mr. Chen, we’ve arrived.”
Yang Dahai parked the car in the lot of Innovation Building, stepped out, and opened the door.
“Mm.”
Chen Mo nodded and got out of the car.
Not far away, Tang Qiu had also just parked her car and was approaching with a curious look on her face.
Yesterday, at the café, she had left first and hadn’t noticed that Chen Mo had a personal driver.
She remembered that when acquiring the garment factory, the guy didn’t even own a car.
But now, not only had he bought one, but he even hired a full-time driver and a personal assistant.
For those who knew, he was just a small garment factory owner.
For those who didn’t, they might think he was some big company boss.
Not only was this Mr. Chen extravagant, but he sure knew how to enjoy himself.
“Lawyer Tang, this is the place, right?”
Chen Mo looked up at the office building ahead.
“Yes, this is it. Their company is on the 11th floor. Let’s go up.”
Tang Qiu also glanced at the building with “Innovation Building” written on it and confirmed.
—
Innovation Building,
11th floor,
Cangxue Games.
“Mr. Meng, everything has been tidied up. It’s spotless.”
An employee quickly approached Meng Lei and reported.
Meng Lei looked around the office. The place was much cleaner than before, and even the employees’ workstations had been wiped spotless.
He nodded slowly.
“Alright, tell everyone to be on their best behavior today.”
“Understood, Mr. Meng.”
The employee responded and quickly returned to their workstation.
“Will this even help?”
Zheng Hongyun glanced at the newly cleaned office, his voice filled with doubt.
Meng Lei sighed helplessly.
“Who knows? But we should do whatever we can. It’s better than doing nothing. At least this way, we can leave a good impression on the buyer, which might make negotiations easier later.”
“Let’s hope so.”
Zheng Hongyun muttered, though deep down, he wasn’t optimistic.
“Check the time—they should be arriving soon. Let’s go greet them.”
Meng Lei checked his watch and saw that it was already the agreed time. Without hesitation, he headed out.
He didn’t want to leave a bad impression when it came to courtesy.
“Hello, are you Mr. Meng Lei?”
As soon as the elevator doors opened, Tang Qiu spotted someone who resembled the person in the files and asked.
“I’m Meng Lei. Are you Mr. Chen?”
Meng Lei nodded and glanced at the three people before him, hesitating slightly.
Among them, Tang Qiu looked the most mature, while the other man and woman seemed too young.
“Oh, this is Mr. Chen. The other is his assistant, and I’m the lawyer Mr. Chen hired. We spoke yesterday.”
Tang Qiu quickly pointed at Chen Mo and introduced them one by one.
“Haha, Mr. Chen, you’re quite young and capable! Nice to meet you!”
Meng Lei was stunned for a moment. He hadn’t expected the young man before him to be Mr. Chen.
He was surprised but quickly adjusted, laughing as he offered some polite words of praise.
Then he introduced himself.
“I’m Meng Lei, the owner of Cangxue Games. This is Zheng Hongyun, the company’s vice president. We started the company together.”
“A pleasure to meet you.”
Chen Mo nodded and responded with a polite smile before getting straight to the point.
“No need for formalities—let’s get straight to the acquisition.”
He was here to spend money, not to waste time with empty pleasantries.
Meng Lei’s smile faded slightly, and he felt a bit uneasy. This Mr. Chen might look young, but his way of doing business was direct and decisive.
He had planned to exchange a few pleasantries to build rapport, but Mr. Chen wasn’t giving him the chance.
Jumping straight to the point—was he here to drive a hard bargain?
A trace of worry surfaced in Meng Lei’s mind, but he kept up his cheerful demeanor.
“Then let’s talk in the office. Follow me.”
He took the lead, guiding them inside.
“Mr. Chen, this is our company.”
At the entrance, Meng Lei pointed to the company’s nameplate.
As they stepped inside, he continued his introduction.
“This is the break room. Employees usually come here to relax, have tea, and chat.”
Chen Mo glanced at the break room—two round glass tables and a hot water kettle. That was it.
He began calculating in his mind.
This break room was way too basic. Once he took over, he could add a coffee machine and a snack bar.
Yes, another place to spend money.
“Mr. Chen, this is the employees’ workspace.”
Meng Lei led them to a large room lined with neatly arranged computers. Employees were hard at work, fully focused.
Chen Mo examined the workspace and frowned slightly when he saw how diligent everyone was.
But he soon relaxed.
Not bad.
With employees working so hard, yet the company still losing money, it meant these people were really talented.
He had to keep them—so they could continue working hard for the company’s losses.
And these desks and computers… too outdated.
They’d all need to be replaced.
Good desks and computers helped boost morale, and when employees were in a good mood, they worked better, right?
Chen Mo thought to himself, though he was really justifying his spending to the system.
After all, every expense he made for the company had to be reasonable, or the system would flag it as a violation.
Looking at the rows of computers—there had to be at least 30.
Based on the last computer purchase, each one cost 43,000.
Thirty of them would cost over 1.2 million.
Add in the desks and chairs, and that’d be enough to spend the remaining 2 million.
Thinking of this,
Chen Mo felt great.
—
Inside the office,
Everyone took their seats.
Meng Lei brought over pre-prepared tea and handed a cup to each of them before cautiously asking,
“Mr. Chen, how do you plan to acquire Cangxue Games?”
“You listed the price at 1.5 million, right? Let’s just go with that.”
Chen Mo answered casually.
Meng Lei was taken aback.
Chen Mo’s response caught him off guard.
He had been racking his brain, preparing countermeasures in case the buyer tried to push the price down.
But unexpectedly, the other party didn’t even negotiate and just agreed to the listed price.
No price-cutting?
While surprised, Meng Lei also felt relieved.
But then he thought of the employees.
Was the buyer skipping negotiations to target employee layoffs instead?
Feeling uneasy, he hesitated before asking,
“Mr. Chen, what do you plan to do about the employees?”
To be safe, he quickly added,
“If you’re willing to keep all of them, I can lower the acquisition price a bit.”
