Chapter 91: Everyone, Take the Day Off

    ā€œOur respected Boss Chen!ā€

As the host’s voice fell, no one knew who started it, but a wave of applause erupted, followed by employees shouting in unison:

ā€œBoss, you’re awesome! Boss, you’re generous! Boss, you’re amazing! Boss, we love you!ā€

Chen Mo had been smiling at first—after all, they were praising him. But the moment he heard the last line, his expression froze. He looked at the group of enthusiastic grown men shouting below, and a chill ran down his spine.

    Damn it.

Was this sports day so intense it actually turned his male employees…?

That thought made him quickly raise a hand to stop their chanting. He was seriously afraid these guys would get carried away and start yelling something like ā€œLet us bear your children!ā€

Of course, if the ones yelling had been a bunch of pretty ladies, that’d be a whole other story.

As the chanting faded, Chen Mo casually grabbed two of the pricier prize vouchers. After all, this money could go into his personal stash.

Next up to receive prizes were people like Wang Maonian and Wei Yan. These guys had only signed up for the racewalking event, so their scores were still behind his.

And that Wang Maonian—he messed up Chen Mo’s expectations by getting dead last in racewalking, earning just one point in total.

This guy runs every morning, and all he got was one measly point? Outrageous.

Looks like he’s going to need some serious drilling when they get back.

With Wang Maonian collecting the final prize, the sports meet officially came to a satisfying end.

Wang Maonian looked at the two prize vouchers in his hand with a wave of emotion—this was the first time in his life he’d won an award in a sports event.

Working for Boss Chen really is something else.

ā€œBoss Chen, it’s not even four o’clock yet. What’s the plan? Should we all head back to the office?ā€

Shen Rou walked up to Chen Mo and quietly asked. The employees were already getting ready to leave, but technically it wasn’t yet the end of the workday.

ā€œUp to them. Today’s done. If they want to go back, they can take the company bus. If not, they’re free to do whatever.ā€

Chen Mo didn’t even think about it before responding. Go back to the office? To work? In their dreams.

    Everyone take the day off.

    ā€œUnderstood, Boss Chen.ā€

Shen Rou turned and left. Soon after, cheers once again rang out from the employee ranks.

    ā€œBoss Chen.ā€

Chen Mo was just about to leave when he was called again. He turned and saw Jiang Cheng.

    ā€œWhat’s up?ā€

ā€œIt’s like this, Boss Chen. Two of the flatbed machines in the workshop have been breaking down lately. I checked—they’ve got some key components that are worn out. I’d like to apply for replacements.ā€

Jiang Cheng spoke cautiously. Truth was, many machines in the workshop had been acting up. He’d fixed most of them, but those two were beyond repair due to severe component aging.

The only fix was to replace the parts, so he figured this was a good opportunity to bring it up.

ā€œOh, that? Just go get finance to approve it.ā€

It’s just a couple machine parts—it wouldn’t cost much. The finance department could handle it.

That’s what Chen Mo was thinking. But then, something occurred to him—he still had over 3 million in system funds he hadn’t spent yet.

Workshop machines having issues? Perfect excuse to spend some of that money.

Repairs wouldn’t cost much. But replacements? That he could work with. Replace them with new ones. Expensive ones.

    ā€œHold up.ā€

Just as Jiang Cheng was about to leave, Chen Mo stopped him.

    ā€œDon’t fix those machines.ā€

    ā€œHuh?ā€

Jiang Cheng was taken aback. If they didn’t fix them, the workshop would be short two machines. The sales department had already been pulling in more orders lately.

If their production couldn’t keep up with the orders, based on Boss Chen’s rules, the sales team would have to stop taking orders temporarily. And even though Boss Chen said the company would compensate them, that still meant a loss in company revenue.

That wasn’t a situation Jiang Cheng wanted to see.

He was just about to explain all that when Boss Chen spoke again.

ā€œI think most of the machines in the workshop are pretty outdated. Might as well replace them all. Constant repairs are a waste of time. Go calculate how much it’ll cost to replace everything with new machines.ā€

    ā€œY-Yes, Boss Chen!ā€

Jiang Cheng immediately nodded, finally understanding why Boss Chen didn’t want to fix the machines—he was planning to upgrade everything.

If the whole workshop got new machines, efficiency would definitely increase. That way, sales could keep taking orders without worry.

Boss Chen must’ve been thinking ahead all along.

And tomorrow was the weekend. He could check out the equipment market. Jiang Cheng knew his stuff when it came to machines—some fancy-looking ones weren’t actually practical. You had to see and test them in person.

As Jiang Cheng walked off, Chen Mo let out a breath of relief.

Finally found another way to spend money. Now he could enjoy his weekend.

    On the company bus back,

Jiang Cheng sat in his seat, still thinking about the machines, when Wu Yu suddenly slid into the seat next to him.

ā€œBrother Jiang, I want to know—how many more orders can the workshop handle?ā€

ā€œWe need to check. If we in sales take on too much and the workshop can’t keep up, we’re in trouble.ā€

Hearing this, Jiang Cheng snapped out of his thoughts and smiled.

ā€œHonestly, you guys in sales already had the workshop close to max capacity.ā€

ā€œBut Boss Chen just said he’s going to replace all the machines. Once that’s done, efficiency will go up by at least 30%. So go ahead and take those orders.ā€

    ā€œReally? That’s great news.ā€

ā€œBoss Chen is just something else. He must’ve already seen our rising order volume and planned for this upgrade.ā€

Wu Yu couldn’t help but admire him. Now they could keep working through the weekend without worrying about the workshop falling behind.

ā€œI think so too. I just brought up repairing the machines, and Boss Chen immediately proposed replacing all of them. Clearly, he’d already been planning for this.ā€

    Jiang Cheng agreed.

    Nightfall.

    In a university dorm room—

A young man burst in, full of energy.

ā€œBros! It’s the weekend tomorrow. Let’s go have some fun!ā€

But the dorm was quiet, filled only with the sound of clacking keyboards and mice.

Duan Mingyuan looked around and found all his roommates hunched over their computers, gaming.

Curious, he walked over to one of them and glanced at the screen.

ā€œDamn! Isn’t that Tianlong? You guys are playing this game now?ā€
