Make Money C276
by MarineTLChapter 276: Tomorrow Cafeteria
After a brief tour of Boring Short Video and Cangxue Games’ offices, Luo Xiao couldn’t help but take note of the high-end office furniture and computers—everything was branded and clearly expensive.
Just one set of those desks and chairs had to cost over ten thousand yuan.
As for the computers, though he didn’t know the exact specs, judging by the monitors and towers, they couldn’t be less than twenty thousand each.
A ten-story office building, decked out with pricey furniture and even full-floor entertainment facilities…
Luo Xiao couldn’t even begin to imagine how much all of this had cost.
He was starting to feel like he didn’t really know his old classmate anymore. A twinge of bitterness crept into his heart. He’d gone out into the world chasing dreams of directing films, only to nearly lose everything he had.
But Chen Mo? Quiet and unassuming, and yet he’d built an empire.
What made it even more impressive was that Chen Mo came from an average middle-class family. There was no way his family could’ve backed him financially in any significant way.
So everything Chen Mo had now was clearly built by his own hands.
People really shouldn’t compare themselves to others—because once you do, you realize just how much of a failure you are.
Luo Xiao sighed inwardly. But when he turned and saw Wang Bin looking like a country bumpkin who’d never seen the world, he felt a little better.
At least there was someone here who’d spent over a year as a background actor in the film city.
“The next two floors, the 19th and 18th, are reserved for your Film and Television Company,” Chen Mo said.
After showing them around the other companies, Chen Mo led them to the 19th floor.
As soon as they stepped out of the elevator, Luo Xiao and Wang Bin saw the company sign right in front of them.
Blue Film Studios.
But unlike the luxurious setups upstairs, this floor was still in a basic office building state—no furniture, no equipment.
“The 19th and 18th floors haven’t been renovated yet. If you need any changes or have specific requirements, just talk to my assistant. She’ll help you get in touch with the renovation team and handle procurement.”
Chen Mo walked them through both floors quickly, since there wasn’t much to see.
Then they headed down to the 17th floor.
“Good afternoon, President Chen!”
A few receptionists greeted him respectfully, their faces beaming with genuine smiles.
“Mm.” Chen Mo nodded slightly and led Luo Xiao and Wang Bin inside.
Luo Xiao glanced at the receptionists behind them.
When he and Wang Bin had first arrived, the receptionists had been polite, but their smiles were just the standard professional kind.
But when Chen Mo showed up, the smiles turned warm and sincere.
Of course, if he’d known that these receptionists made over 8,000 yuan a month including bonuses, he’d understand why.
Chen Mo didn’t notice Luo Xiao’s expression. As they walked, he explained, “The 17th floor is a bit more complex. It houses the offices for several of our other subsidiaries—like the Clothing Factory, Nanhe Coffee, and so on. There’s also an Investment Company here.”
The Investment Company had already been set up, thanks to Tang Qiu handling all the paperwork.
For now, it was just a small office space with a few people assigned to collect and evaluate investment proposals.
But the final decision on any investment still rested with Chen Mo.
After all, his goal wasn’t to invest in projects that would make money—but in those that were most likely to lose money.
Of course, he couldn’t exactly tell his employees that, so he had to personally make the calls.
Luo Xiao and Wang Bin followed Chen Mo through the floor, passing one office after another. Each one represented another business under President Chen’s name.
Luo Xiao did a quick count—Chen Mo had at least seven different companies.
That was insane!
“Alright, that’s about it for the tour. If there’s nothing else, let’s head back and sign the contracts,” Chen Mo said after they finished on the 17th floor.
“Sounds good!” Luo Xiao and Wang Bin nodded without hesitation. After seeing what Chen Mo had built, they had no reason to worry.
For a group of this size, starting a Film and Television Company was more than feasible—it was a piece of cake.
The three returned to the top floor.
Shen Rou brought over the prepared documents.
Luo Xiao and Wang Bin skimmed through the contracts and signed them without a second thought.
“These are your elevator access cards and employee badges. You’ll need them to use the elevators and to eat in the cafeteria. Though in a few days, we’ll be upgrading the cafeteria entrance—no more badges, just facial recognition.”
Chen Mo handed them the cards after they’d signed.
“Cafeteria?” Luo Xiao and Wang Bin looked puzzled as they took the cards.
They hadn’t seen any cafeteria during the tour.
And usually, companies in office buildings didn’t have their own cafeterias. Most just gave meal stipends and let employees eat out.
Seeing their confusion, Chen Mo checked the time—it was already past 11.
By now, the cafeteria should’ve finished preparing lunch.
He thought for a moment, then stood up.
“Lunch should be ready by now. Come on, I’ll take you over to eat.”
Tomorrow Cafeteria.
Chen Mo led them straight in—no one stopped them, and there was no need to show any ID.
Here, his face was all the ID he needed.
“President Chen, what brings you here? Just tell me what you’d like, and I’ll have someone bring it to you,” said Wang Maonian, hurrying over to greet him.
Since the cafeteria opened, Wang Maonian no longer needed to cook himself—his role was more supervisory now, like the head of logistics.
There was even a small office set up for him inside the cafeteria.
“Let me introduce you—this is Luo Xiao and Wang Bin. They’ll be in charge of Blue Film Studios from now on,” Chen Mo said with a small wave of his hand.
“Nice to meet you, nice to meet you. I’m Wang Maonian. Thanks to President Chen’s trust, I’m currently in charge of the cafeteria—basically the head of logistics,” he said, quickly shaking hands with both of them.
“The food should be ready by now. Bring one serving of each dish to the private room.”
After Chen Mo and the other two had introduced themselves, he turned to Wang Maonian and gave the instruction.
“Alright, President Chen. You all head to the private room first. I’ll bring the food over right away,” Wang Maonian replied, then quickly turned and headed toward the kitchen.
“Let’s go too,” Chen Mo said, leading Luo Xiao and Wang Bin toward one of the private rooms.
A plaque on the door read: *For the President’s Use Only*.
Chen Mo pushed the door open and peeked inside with curiosity.
He knew the cafeteria had set aside a private room just for him, but since Shen Rou usually brought his meals to the office, he had never actually been here before.
Today was his first time.
Overall, the room’s decor was quite impressive.
They had barely taken their seats when Wang Maonian returned, accompanied by several cafeteria staff, each carrying dishes.
Ten dishes in total were neatly arranged on the table.
Luo Xiao and Wang Bin stared at the spread, their mouths hanging open in shock once again.
