Chapter 20: Your Boss Is Really Generous

    Knock, knock, knock!

The door was knocked on once again.

Hearing the gentle yet rhythmic knocking, Chen Mo carefully opened a small gap and peeked outside.

Once he saw what was outside, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

A little girl stood there, holding a bag with both hands. It seemed a bit heavy, so her small body was leaning entirely against the wall beside the door.

No wonder he hadn’t seen anything through the peephole.

Chen Mo recognized the little girl—she was the daughter of Yang Dahai from downstairs.

Seeing Chen Mo open the door, Yang Duoduo quickly held out the bag in her hands.

“Hello, big brother. My mom asked me to bring this to you.”

Noticing how much effort she was exerting, Chen Mo quickly took the bag from her hands.

Inside, he saw multiple meal boxes, and the aroma wafting out made it obvious what was inside.

    “Thank you. What’s your name?”

Chen Mo bent down and gently ruffled the little girl’s hair. This was a kind gesture from Yang Dahai’s family, and he couldn’t bring himself to refuse.

Besides, he was just about to have dinner.

“My name is Yang Duoduo. You can call me Duoduo, big brother!”

“Big brother, my mom said you should eat the food while it’s hot. I’ll head back now!”

Yang Duoduo blinked her big, watery eyes and smiled.

Before Chen Mo could respond, she quickly ran down the stairs, as if she was in a hurry.

Chen Mo chuckled, closed the door, and set out the food on the table.

To his surprise, there were six dishes in total. The aroma was enticing, and the presentation was excellent—it instantly whetted his appetite.

Picking up his chopsticks, he took a bite. The taste was fantastic.

It was completely deserving of the phrase “color, aroma, and flavor in perfect harmony.”

With such great cooking skills, once the cafeteria was built, he could recruit them as chefs. Tomorrow, he could ask Yang Dahai about it and see what he thought.

After all, he was going to spend money anyway, so it didn’t matter who he hired as a chef. If he could help out a bit, why not?

    Late Night

Shen Rou had just finished her part-time job and was walking to the dormitory when her phone rang.

She glanced at the caller ID and quickly picked up.

    “Grandma Wu, is something wrong?”

“Xiao Rou, why did you send us so much money? I already told you, I’ll find a way to handle the orphanage’s expenses.”

“You keep sending us money—what about your own food and housing?”

An elderly voice came from the phone.

“Grandma Wu, don’t worry. I’m staying in the school dormitory, so I don’t have to spend money on rent. And my company provides meals.”

“So just accept the money and use it to buy some good food for the kids.”

Shen Rou smiled. After getting off work today, she had transferred over 6,000 yuan to the orphanage’s account.

She had grown up in the orphanage and received so much kindness from them. Now that they were struggling, how could she just stand by and do nothing?

    “You child…”

A sigh came from the phone.

“Alright, on behalf of those little rascals, thank you. But don’t do this again—you’re still young, and you need to think about your own future.”

“And if you keep sending all your money to us, how are you supposed to find a boyfriend?”

“Then I just won’t have one. But I won’t give up on the orphanage.”

    Shen Rou replied stubbornly.

After hanging up, she walked into the dormitory building.

“Ahh, our dear Rou Rou is back!”

As soon as she stepped inside, Zhang Lan rushed over and hugged her.

“So? Was I right? Did your boss fall for your beauty?”

Shen Rou rolled her eyes at Zhang Lan’s gossipy expression.

“What are you talking about? My boss is nothing like that.”

“Then what is he like? Tell me all about it!”

Zhang Lan looked intrigued and kept pestering her.

With no other choice, Shen Rou briefly explained what had happened at work today.

“What?! There’s actually a boss this generous? You’re not messing with me, are you?”

    Zhang Lan gasped in disbelief.

Getting paid in advance, having air conditioning installed in the workshop, and even receiving a 200-yuan labor fee just for giving some instructions…

This all sounded like something out of a dream!

“Believe it or not, it’s up to you. Now move, I need to study.”

Shen Rou pushed Zhang Lan away and started looking up information.

Zhang Lan glanced at her phone—it was almost midnight.

“It’s so late! You’re not going to sleep?”

“I’m checking what professional qualities an assistant should have. I just started my internship, and I’m not very familiar with the responsibilities yet.”

Shen Rou replied without even looking up. She really valued this job.

So she wanted to improve herself as much as possible and secure her position at the company.

“If the job treats you so well, why don’t you quit your night shift? That way, you won’t be so exhausted.”

Zhang Lan couldn’t understand why Shen Rou was pushing herself so hard.

Shen Rou paused for a moment before replying,

    “I’ll think about it later.”

Right now, the orphanage needed money. If she could earn more, she had to.

That way, the children could have better lives.

    At the 4S Dealership

Chen Mo stood in front of the luxurious 4S dealership, nodding in satisfaction.

As expected from the largest dealership in Jiangcheng.

“Let’s go in and take a look.”

He turned to Shen Rou and Yang Dahai, who were standing behind him.

“Hello, sir! What kind of car are you looking for? I can show you around.”

A salesperson immediately approached as they entered.

    “I’ll look around first.”

Chen Mo didn’t answer directly. Instead, he started wandering through the showroom.

Since this was his first time at a 4S dealership, he had to take a good look.

Shen Rou and Yang Dahai also curiously examined the cars.

“Sir, this car you’re looking at is a new model this year. It’s selling very well, and if you buy it today, there’s a special discount.”

“The features and specifications are also—”

The salesperson eagerly explained when she noticed Chen Mo lingering in front of a particular car.

    “How much?”

    Chen Mo asked directly.

“For the fully loaded version, it’s 160,000 yuan. But there’s a promotion today, so it’s a bit cheaper.”

    160,000 yuan?

    That’s too cheap.

Chen Mo shook his head and moved on to another car.

He continued checking out vehicles, occasionally asking about their prices.

At first, the salesperson enthusiastically introduced each model. But as time passed, she eventually resorted to just giving him the prices.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to be professional—it was just that she had explained so many cars already that her voice was getting hoarse.

And judging by his attitude, he seemed like someone who was just here to ask about prices rather than actually buying a car.

Just when the salesperson thought Chen Mo was going to keep browsing, he suddenly stopped in front of a particular car.
