Make Money C156
by MarineTLChapter 156: Killing Off Any Chance of Profit in the Cradle
“Eat and drink your fill before working. Eat when you’re hungry, drink when you’re thirsty.”
“Machines are blind and dangerous—operate with caution. Caution, caution, and more caution.”
“Safety first, health second, work last.”
“If you’re feeling tired, take a break. Work-life balance is the way to go.”
“……”
Li Shen walked out of the office with a sheet full of slogans in hand, his brows slightly furrowed. He felt like these slogans from President Chen were kind of… encouraging the staff to slack off.
Wait—
Why would I even think that?
Obviously, President Chen is just concerned about employee health. Only when people are in good condition can they work efficiently, right?
He’d better remind Jiang Cheng later. If the workers really misunderstood President Chen’s intentions, that could cause trouble.
Thinking this,
Li Shen smiled slightly, then took out his phone and opened the short video platform. After editing the video he had just filmed of the new workshop, he uploaded it.
He casually clicked on a few of his earlier videos—clips of President Chen donating dog food at the shelter and others. Plus, he had spent a bit of money to boost some of them.
His account was finally starting to gain traction.
Now, every time he posted a video, it could easily get tens of thousands of views. He already had over 7,000 followers.
He believed that as long as he kept at it, the traffic would continue to grow, and more and more people would get to know about the garment factory.
……….
Inside the office,
After giving Li Shen his tasks,
Chen Mo, feeling a bit bored, started wondering how things were going with Pang Tao’s pet park. The company wasn’t too busy at the moment, so he figured he might as well go check it out.
“Shen Rou, let Brother Yang prepare the car—I’m going to the Corner Cat & Dog Rescue Shelter.”
……
Corner Pet Park
“President Chen, this is the Corner Pet Park. The workers just finished putting up the walls. The inside is still under planning.”
Pang Tao pointed to a large fenced-off open space ahead and explained.
Chen Mo glanced around. The park was clearly still in its early construction phase—it would take quite a while to finish.
“Let me take you inside for a look, President Chen. I’ve already done some basic planning.”
As he spoke, Pang Tao led the way into the park.
Chen Mo followed along and noticed that some areas were cordoned off with long fabric strips. Curious, he asked,
“What are those sections for?”
“Those are the zones I’ve planned out.”
“Like over there—those are for the pets to live in. Each area separates different breeds of cats and dogs.”
“The section on the left is for large dogs. The right is for small dogs. Go a little further in, and that’s the area for cats.”
Chen Mo nodded to himself as he listened to the explanation.
No matter what, it was clear Pang Tao was putting genuine effort into building this pet park.
Walking further, they passed another area.
“President Chen, this spot is for visitors to rest. We’ll do some landscaping, plant a few trees, and put out some benches.”
“As for the greenery, I plan to turn the whole park into an ecological garden—give people a feeling of returning to nature, so they can leisurely enjoy watching the cats and dogs.”
Chen Mo listened and chuckled inwardly. There were already plenty of nicely landscaped parks in the city. Who would drive all the way out here just to “feel nature”? Especially if they had to pay for a ticket.
They continued deeper into the park and finally stopped at a central area surrounded by fabric strips.
“President Chen, this central area right here is where I plan to build a big stage.”
Pang Tao pointed to the spot, speaking excitedly.
This stage was the crown jewel of his plan—the key to attracting visitors.
“A stage?”
Chen Mo looked puzzled. “Why would a pet park need a stage?”
“Well, President Chen, I figured that just letting visitors watch cats and dogs would be too plain. So I came up with a great idea to draw in crowds—pet performances.”
“We can pick out some clever stray dogs and hire professional trainers to teach them tricks. Then they can perform on stage, like a mini circus.”
“That way, visitors won’t get bored. I’m sure the performances will attract a ton of people.”
Pang Tao was clearly thrilled by his own idea.
But Chen Mo’s face darkened the more he listened.
Pet performances?
This Pang Tao really had a brain on him. If those shows turned out to be interesting, they could actually draw in a crowd.
Good thing he decided to come inspect the place today.
If he had let Pang Tao bumble into success and bring in tons of visitors through pet shows, he would’ve lost big time!
Nope.
This kind of unpredictable moneymaking possibility had to be snuffed out in the cradle.
A flash of inspiration hit Chen Mo—he thought of the perfect excuse.
“Pang Tao, this pet performance idea isn’t quite right.”
“What’s wrong with it, President Chen? I can make adjustments.”
Pang Tao tensed up—had Chen Mo spotted a flaw?
“It’s the training part. I’ve heard that pet training can be pretty painful for the animals. I think it’s best not to put them through that.”
“Hiring pet trainers is fine, but don’t train them to do acrobatics or anything like that. Just teach them basic commands—walking, sitting, lying down. That’s enough.”
Chen Mo said slowly. He wasn’t against hiring trainers—after all, that still cost money.
“But President Chen, from what I’ve researched, the training doesn’t actually harm the pets…”
Pang Tao looked worried. He had been paying close attention to this matter.
“No need to say more. Scrap the performance plan. There are plenty of other ways to attract visitors.”
Chen Mo raised his hand and cut him off. Anything that hinted at potential profit—he simply couldn’t allow it.
Because if pet performances did end up pulling in lots of people and making money, it would be too late to cancel it later.
According to the system’s rules, he wasn’t allowed to arbitrarily shut down any legal, profitable business projects.
“Let’s head back. I’ve seen enough.”
Chen Mo glanced around. He had already toured most of the park—there wasn’t much else worth seeing.
“Alright, President Chen.”
Pang Tao sighed helplessly but inwardly admired how kind President Chen was. Clearly, the shows could attract visitors, yet he was more concerned about the pets being put through hardship.
Guess he’d have to think of some other ideas.
