Chapter 145 – Chen Jun: I Just Want to Be Quiet

    Chenglin Interior Design

“Hey Wang Yang, how’s the temperature in the studio? Is it comfortable? If not, we can adjust it.”

Supervisor Qi Bu looked over at Wang Yang sitting at his desk and asked with concern.

“It’s perfect, Supervisor Qi, no need to change it.”

    Wang Yang quickly replied.

“That’s good then. Focus on your proposal, I won’t disturb you.”

Qi Bu reminded him before turning to leave.

“Wang Yang, out of everyone here, none of us enjoy treatment like yours.”

Once Supervisor Qi had left, Chen Jun leaned over and teased.

“Come on, Jun-ge, don’t joke with me.”

    Wang Yang smiled helplessly.

Ever since he had come back and reported the measurements, things had been different.

Even the air conditioning, which had been off for over a month, was now up and running again.

“I’m just stating facts. If those two projects of yours go through, the budget would be around 3 to 4 million. Of course Supervisor Qi would take it seriously.”

“Over 3 million in performance in a single month—that breaks the record for Chenglin Interior Design. And probably no one will surpass it anytime soon.”

“As a newcomer, you’re practically defying the heavens.”

    Chen Jun praised seriously.

“Jun-ge, you know exactly how I got those projects. It was pure luck!”

“Sure, the projects are big, but what about the future? That clothing factory won’t always have renovations going on.”

Wang Yang smiled bitterly. He had a clear sense of his own abilities.

He only got those projects thanks to President Chen. Without him, he wouldn’t have landed a single one.

But President Chen couldn’t possibly always have renovations going on either.

“That’s true. Still, you’ve done really well. Your business skills will improve over time.”

Chen Jun nodded subtly. How many renovations could a clothing factory really need?

Once this batch was done, that would pretty much be it.

In the future, it would all come down to real ability.

    Bzzz Bzzz Bzzz!

Suddenly, Wang Yang’s phone on the desk vibrated.

He glanced at the caller ID—it was Assistant Shen.

    He hurried to pick up.

“Hello, Assistant Shen, is something the matter?”

Wang Yang asked cautiously, assuming it was some change to the renovation plan.

“Oh, I just wanted to ask if you’re free tomorrow. We have a new workshop that needs measuring for renovation.”

Assistant Shen’s voice came through the line.

Wang Yang was stunned for a moment. Another new workshop?

    That couldn’t be right.

Hadn’t he just taken measurements for a new workshop? Now there’s another one?

    He asked to confirm.

“Assistant Shen, is this a different workshop from the one I measured last time?”

“Yes, President Chen has rented another workshop. If you’re free tomorrow, come by to take measurements. President Chen won’t be at the clothing factory, so just find Li Shen, he’ll take you there.”

    Once he got confirmation,

Wang Yang took a deep breath and quickly replied.

“Got it, Assistant Shen. I’ll be there tomorrow.”

    After hanging up the phone,

Wang Yang turned to Chen Jun and said slowly,

“The clothing factory called. They said there’s another new workshop that needs renovation, and I need to go measure it.”

Chen Jun twitched at the corners of his mouth, opened his mouth to say something, but in the end, swallowed all his words.

He silently got up and returned to his desk.

He just wanted to be quiet.

    …………

    Early Morning – Clothing Factory

Chen Mo arrived at the factory to give a few instructions, then left straightaway to head to the pet food processing plant.

It was about an hour’s drive.

Finally, he arrived at the gate of the processing plant.

As soon as he got out of the car, he saw Tang Qiu and Song Xia waiting at the gate. A middle-aged woman stood with them.

When all three saw him arrive, they walked over.

“President Chen, the pet food has all been loaded. Four trucks in total, five tons each.”

Tang Qiu said as he pointed toward the four fully-loaded trucks in the distance.

Chen Mo looked at the trucks and asked in confusion:

“If we’re paying 13 yuan per jin, shouldn’t 500,000 yuan only get us under 19 tons of pet food? Why do we have 20 tons?”

“Oh, the factory owner, Sister Li, heard that you were buying 500,000 yuan worth of pet food to donate to a rescue shelter, so she gave you a discount and rounded it up to 20 tons.”

Tang Qiu explained, pointing to the middle-aged woman beside him.

“President Chen, this is Sister Li, Li Ru, the owner of the pet food processing plant.”

“Sister Li, this is President Chen, Chen Mo.”

Hearing this, Chen Mo turned to Li Ru and said with gratitude:

    “Thank you, Boss Li.”

“President Chen, you’re too polite. You’re the one donating 500,000 yuan worth of pet food to the rescue station. Giving up a bit of profit on my end is nothing.”

Li Ru said sincerely. Even with the discount, she was still making some profit, unlike Chen Mo, who was donating real money.

But she also had her own goals.

Her aim was to help more stray animal shelters, as long as her factory could keep running.

Only by keeping her factory operating could she help more stray cats and dogs in the long run.

After a few more polite exchanges,

Chen Mo got ready to leave.

“Boss Li, since the goods are ready, we’ll head to the rescue station now.”

“Alright, I’ve arranged for two workers per truck. They’ll help unload when you get there.”

Li Ru said with a wave.

Chen Mo thanked her, got in the car, and set off for the Corner Cat & Dog Rescue Shelter.

Tang Qiu led the way, Yang Dahai drove behind,

followed by the four large trucks.

Since the rescue station was located in a village on the outskirts of Jiangcheng City, it was a bit remote.

According to GPS, the drive would take about an hour and a half.

    ………….

Corner Cat & Dog Rescue Shelter

Inside a somewhat shabby room, two middle-aged men were having a conversation.

“Brother Xu, what do we do? Do we take those dogs or not?”

Pang Tao looked at the man across from him and asked.

    Xu Zhengming hesitated.

Just last night, a volunteer from the pet association had stopped two illegal vehicles transporting stray dogs. There were over 200 dogs inside.

If they took on those dogs, the shelter would face a massive financial burden.

He had already looked into the dogs’ condition and found that many were sick. Judging by the symptoms, it was likely canine distemper.

Treatment for distemper at pet hospitals cost between 1,000 to 3,000 yuan per dog.

Out of the 200 dogs, he estimated that at least 20 had the disease.

With a full screening, the number would definitely be higher.

Not to mention treatment for injured and disabled dogs.

Just the medical expenses alone would be a huge drain.

For their shelter, it was going to be incredibly difficult to handle.
