Make Money C04
by MarineTLChapter 4: Fabric? Use Only the Best
“Pay in advance!”
Chen Mo glanced at Tang Qiu as if she were an idiot. How could she even ask such a simple question?
However, the system only allowed him to pay one month in advance. Otherwise, if he could prepay several months, wouldn’t he be able to spend all the remaining system funds instantly?
Tang Qiu was stunned. She had heard of withholding wages before, but she had never encountered someone who paid salaries in advance.
Before she could say anything else, a knock sounded at the door, and Wei Yan walked in.
After surveying the office, he spoke slowly.
“The employees are all ready. Shall we start distributing salaries now?”
“Hmm, let’s start with you.”
Liu Cheng glanced at Wei Yan and spoke indifferently. At this point, he had no room to back out.
He could only pick up a calculator and begin calculating Wei Yan’s salary for the previous month.
“Including your base salary and commission, your total is 7,870. Check if there’s any mistake.”
“No mistake.”
Wei Yan nodded without hesitation. This amount was about the same as what he had calculated himself.
But he was dissatisfied with his earnings. Given his abilities, his performance should have been much higher. However, this year, in an attempt to cut costs, Liu Cheng had downgraded the already mediocre fabric to an even worse quality. As a result, many of Wei Yan’s old clients had stopped placing orders.
This led to a sharp decline in sales. He had pointed out this issue before, but Liu Cheng never cared. He believed the drop in performance was entirely the sales staff’s fault.
The company originally had three salespeople, but the other two had quit because of this. Only Wei Yan had persisted until now.
He hoped the new boss would upgrade the fabric. Otherwise, he would have no choice but to find a new employer.
As he was about to leave, he was suddenly called back.
“Wait a moment.”
Looking at Chen Mo beckoning him over, Wei Yan was puzzled but still obediently walked up.
“Hello, President Chen.”
“Sit.”
Chen Mo smiled and pointed at the chair in front of the small table.
Wei Yan sat down with a puzzled expression as he watched Chen Mo flip through his salary sheet.
Soon, the new boss put down the sheet and said,
“Your current base salary is 3,000. Next month, I’ll increase it to 4,000. Also, your commission will go up by one percentage point.”
Wei Yan’s eyes widened in shock. Just as he was about to express his gratitude, his phone suddenly vibrated.
A glance at his bank notification revealed an unexpected 4,000 deposit.
Connecting the dots with the new boss’s words, he had a wild thought…
Wait, no—next month hasn’t even started yet. How could the salary already be deposited?
Before he could ask, he received an explanation.
“This 4,000 is just your base salary. It’s all I can pay in advance. Your commissions will have to be calculated at the end of the month.”
“But President Chen, next month hasn’t even begun!”
“Oh, I considered that everyone might feel uneasy because of the change in ownership. From now on, salaries will be paid in advance. Only commissions can’t be calculated beforehand, so those will still be settled at the end of the month.”
Chen Mo sighed in disappointment. He had wanted to prepay some commission as well, but the system flagged it as a violation. He had no choice but to give up on that idea.
Such a pity!
But since he could increase the base salary and apply raises, he should be able to spend a good chunk of the system’s funds.
“Rest assured, President Chen! I will work even harder!”
Wei Yan was instantly invigorated by Chen Mo’s words.
All his previous worries about the new boss vanished.
A boss with this kind of vision surely wouldn’t resort to using subpar fabric just to save costs.
“Good!”
“Go call in the next employee.”
Wei Yan nodded and left to inform the next person in line.
From then on, a bizarre scene unfolded in the office.
Each employee first collected their salary from Liu Cheng, then moved over to Chen Mo’s side to receive an advance payment for next month—plus a raise.
One by one, the employees left the office in a state of delighted confusion.
Since the office wasn’t large, Chen Mo’s words about salary raises echoed clearly in Liu Cheng’s ears.
Liu Cheng felt humiliated, but this kind of humiliation—where someone burned money in his face—left him helpless.
Tang Qiu, on the other hand, remained calm. After spending the day with Chen Mo, she had drawn one conclusion.
This man was a rich second-generation heir. Otherwise, he wouldn’t treat money so casually.
Time passed quickly, and soon, the last employee had received their salary.
Chen Mo leaned back in his chair, feeling a bit fatigued. Looking at the system panel, he felt speechless.
He hadn’t expected the company to have fewer than twenty employees. Even with raises, he had only spent about 100,000 in system funds.
He still had over 300,000 left. He needed to keep spending.
“President Chen, I still have things to attend to, so I won’t stay. If you need anything, just talk to Wei Yan. He knows the company well.”
At some point, Liu Cheng had walked over and spoke in a deep voice.
After the whole salary debacle, he didn’t dare stay any longer. Who knew what other expenses might pop up? It was better to escape first.
“Alright, I won’t see you off then.”
Chen Mo didn’t stop him. After Liu Cheng left, he immediately called Wei Yan over.
“President Chen, do you need something?”
Wei Yan’s office was nearby, so he arrived quickly.
“Yes, I do. I just took over the company and don’t know much about it. Tell me, where does the company urgently need funding?”
Hearing this, Wei Yan’s eyes lit up.
He had been wondering when he could bring up the fabric issue with the new boss. He hadn’t expected Chen Mo to ask first.
Although Chen Mo hadn’t explicitly mentioned fabric, in the current situation, that was clearly the company’s most urgent expense.
So, the new boss might be young, but he was sharp!
Thinking this, Wei Yan answered honestly.
“President Chen, the company urgently needs a batch of better-quality fabric.”
“How much money do you need?”
“If we use the same quality as before, a new batch would cost around 80,000.”
Wei Yan estimated after some thought. The previous fabric wasn’t great, but it was passable for clients.
“Only 80,000?”
Chen Mo frowned. He still had over 300,000 in system funds. That amount wasn’t nearly enough.
“President Chen, if we upgrade to better fabric, the costs will definitely rise. But that would cut into our profits.”
Wei Yan spoke carefully. This was a decision every boss had to make. But in his experience, almost all of them chose higher profits over better product quality.
“If we go for premium fabric, how much would it cost?”
Chen Mo didn’t care about profits at all. He wasn’t here to make money from the company.
Compared to running a business for profit, spending system funds was way easier.
All he had to do was spend money.
So, the bigger the expenditure, the better!
