Chapter 49: Crouching Dragon and Phoenix Chick, the Perfect Combination

“Thank you, President Chen, for trusting me so much. I’ll give it a try over there. If it doesn’t work out, you can transfer me back at any time, and I won’t have any complaints.”

    Wei Yan expressed his gratitude.

    “That’s the spirit. Work hard.”

Hearing Wei Yan agree, Chen Mo finally breathed a sigh of relief.

At last, he had managed to transfer Wei Yan out of the sales department.

“It’s settled then. Go back and hand things over to Wu Yu properly. Tomorrow, I’ll take you to your new position.”

    “Got it, President Chen.”

Wei Yan nodded, then got up and left the office.

“President Chen, if Wei Yan leaves, won’t it be bad to leave only a rookie in the sales department?”

After Wei Yan left, Shen Rou walked over with a freshly made cup of coffee, looking a little concerned.

“It’s fine. This way, the rookie will get better training. If it really doesn’t work, tell HR to hire two more salespeople—make sure they’re fresh graduates with no experience.”

Chen Mo casually took the coffee from Shen Rou, took a light sip, and spoke carefreely.

Regardless, Wei Yan had to go. If one rookie wasn’t enough, two more could be added.

After all, even three rookies combined wouldn’t be as troublesome as Wei Yan.

    “Understood, President Chen.”

Seeing how firm Chen Mo was, Shen Rou didn’t say anything more.

President Chen must have his reasons. She just lacked the experience to understand them yet.

After all, since she’d been working with him, she’d never seen him make a bad decision.

    …

“Brother Yan, you’re back! When are you heading out to meet clients? Let’s go together.”

As soon as Wu Yu saw Wei Yan return, he quickly asked.

Wei Yan looked at Wu Yu for a long moment before finally speaking.

“Wu Yu, from now on, you might be the only one left in the sales department.”

“Huh? What do you mean, Brother Yan? Are you quitting?”

    Wu Yu looked confused.

Wei Yan rolled his eyes at him.

“You’re the one quitting. I’ve been transferred to another position, so you’ll be the only one in the sales department from now on.”

“But don’t worry, just follow what I taught you—be diligent and pay attention.”

“If you really run into a problem you can’t solve, you can call me.”

    “I got it, Brother Yan.”

Wu Yu nodded, then curiously asked, “Brother Yan, what position did they transfer you to?”

“Office director of a new company.”

Halfway through his sentence, Wei Yan realized Wu Yu probably didn’t know that President Chen had acquired a game company, so he explained that as well.

“So President Chen owns another company?”

    Wu Yu was shocked.

“Of course. So work hard. Maybe you’ll be the next one to get promoted.”

Wei Yan patted Wu Yu’s shoulder with a big-brotherly smile.

    …

    The next day,

    At Cangxue Games.

Chen Mo brought Wei Yan to the company.

He had called ahead yesterday, so as soon as they arrived at the company entrance, Fang Chang was already waiting for them.

“President Chen, everyone’s gathered. We can go in and make the announcement right away.”

    Fang Chang greeted them eagerly.

    “Good.”

Chen Mo nodded, then pointed at Wei Yan.

“This is Wei Yan, the new office director.”

Fang Chang sized up Wei Yan briefly, then warmly extended his hand.

“Hello, I’m Fang Chang. Welcome aboard.”

“Wei Yan. I look forward to working with you.”

Wei Yan smiled and shook hands with him.

Soon, they entered the meeting room, where all department heads were already waiting.

After a round of introductions and explanations, Wei Yan officially became the office director of Cangxue Games. His position was just below Fang Chang’s, making him the company’s second-in-command.

    This was perfect.

Fang Chang had a real talent for planning—unfortunately, it was a talent for losing money.

Meanwhile, Wei Yan knew nothing about this field. If he stayed out of the way, things might be okay. But if he interfered, the situation would probably get even worse.

    Crouching Dragon and Phoenix Chick—

    A perfect combination.

This company was bound to lose big.

“Alright, you two handle things here. I’m heading out.”

Now that the transfer was done, Chen Mo spoke up.

With these two in charge, he had full confidence in the company’s financial ruin.

Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly remembered something—he needed to replace the office furniture. He almost forgot.

He turned back to Wei Yan and Fang Chang.

“I noticed the office desks and chairs are too worn out. That won’t do. Replace them all with new ones.”

“Wei Yan, didn’t you buy a batch of furniture before? That brand was good. Just order the same setup. Let me know the total, and I’ll transfer the money to you.”

    “Got it, President Chen.”

Wei Yan nodded quickly. He had made plenty of purchases for President Chen before, so he was experienced in this.

    “Thank you, President Chen!”

Fang Chang also expressed his gratitude. This was the best boss he’d ever had.

In other companies, office furniture only got replaced when it was completely unusable.

    After Chen Mo left,

Fang Chang pulled out the recent planning documents and handed them to Wei Yan.

“Director Wei, these are the recent plans and tasks for the company. You can take a look and let me know if anything needs changing.”

“Manager Fang, you’re too kind. To be honest, I know nothing about the gaming industry, so for now, I’ll just follow along and learn. The planning can proceed as originally scheduled.”

    Wei Yan responded.

President Chen had entrusted him with this position, and he didn’t dare mess around.

Besides, Fang Chang and his team were professionals. Their plans were bound to be more reliable than anything Wei Yan could come up with.

“Alright, Director Wei, if you need anything, just let me know.”

Hearing Wei Yan’s response, Fang Chang finally relaxed. He had been worried that Wei Yan would start meddling despite knowing nothing, which would ruin all his previous efforts.

“Actually, I do have a request.”

    Wei Yan spoke hesitantly.

Fang Chang tensed up again, unsure what he was about to ask.

“Go ahead, Director Wei. If it’s within my power, I’ll take care of it.”

“Since I don’t know anything about this field, I was wondering if I could sit with the employees and observe their daily work. That way, I can learn as I go.”

“I just don’t want to disrupt their work.”

Wei Yan asked cautiously. He didn’t want to interfere with their work, but he also had to learn somehow.

Fang Chang was relieved to hear this and casually replied,

“Feel free to observe. It won’t disrupt anything. In fact, your presence might even serve as a form of supervision.”

    “In that case, I’m relieved.”

    Wei Yan nodded, feeling reassured.

President Chen had placed his trust in him, so he had to work hard and learn as much as possible.
