by MarineTLChapter 335: The Moment Su Ming Had Been Waiting For, Three Days Later
Inside the conference room of the Huaihai Criminal Investigation Brigade.
Su Ming hung up the landline phone from the police station, turned to the people waiting beside him, and nodded with a faint smile.
“Everything is going according to plan.”
“Hurry and extract the video clip—just the part showing J bringing Little Morgan to New York Harbor—and send it to Old Morgan via email.”
“Let him see who the killer is. Get him to send someone to try and dig J out.”
“But be careful… don’t include any footage of Little Morgan being tortured before his death. The fire has only just been lit; we don’t need to pour gasoline on it just yet.”
“When the time is right, releasing that footage will have a powerful effect. It’ll push Old Morgan to come to us on his own.”
“I used the police station’s landline on purpose just now, to avoid any misunderstandings. I didn’t want Old Morgan to think we were scammers or the killers in disguise.”
“Now that everything’s in place, we just have to wait. If the U.S. police can’t dig up any information on J in the next three days—no, it’ll probably only take two—Old Morgan won’t be able to sit still.”
“After all, that dramatic act of cutting his white hair was a calculated performance. It was meant to make his business rivals, who were waiting to kick him while he’s down, think twice.”
“If he can’t make the killer pay, then that whole performance will have been meaningless.”
At this point, Su Ming paused for a couple of seconds, tapping his middle finger lightly on the table before continuing.
“I’m guessing it won’t be long before we hear news of J’s nightclub being bombed, burned down, or all the staff being poisoned.”
“Because if K has already arrived in the United States and is helping J plan things…”
“Given his usual methods for destroying evidence, those henchmen in Lan Cai’er’s video—the ones who helped kill Little Morgan—won’t live past today.”
“And to ensure no evidence is left behind, they probably won’t keep the nightclub standing either.”
“These next two or three days are the perfect window for us to gather intel on that nightclub, and on the other casino as well.”
“If possible, we should collect everything we can on J and Q. That’ll give us a big advantage when we head to the U.S. for the arrest.”
“For now, stay calm and get some rest.”
“Once we land in the United States, the real battle begins.”
…
Half an hour later.
Inside the Chairman’s Office of Morgan Tower in New York, United States.
Old Morgan was watching the video sent in the name of the Dragon Country Police.
It was the very same footage Lan Cai’er’s team had accidentally captured. Fortunately, it had been recorded as part of her graduation project, so the video quality was exceptionally clear.
Even though the camera had only caught the murder from a corner angle, zooming in didn’t distort the image much.
After watching it dozens of times, Old Morgan let out a soft sigh and looked up at the ceiling, sorrow hidden deep in his eyes.
From the very first glance, he had known that the victim in the video was his only grandson.
But he couldn’t accept it. He kept watching the footage over and over, hoping to catch one last glimpse of his grandson before he died.
He never once doubted the authenticity of the video.
Because he didn’t believe anyone would dare to impersonate the Dragon Country Police or forge such a sensitive video just to deceive him.
And even if someone tried, they wouldn’t succeed. With the influence of Morgan Financial Group, he could easily verify the video with Dragon Country’s officials.
If he really had doubts, a single phone call could summon hundreds of experts to authenticate the footage. But there was no need for that.
The remains recovered from the seabed had already confirmed too much.
Still, Old Morgan wasn’t foolish. He quickly noticed that the video had been deliberately edited, with the later parts cut out. They hadn’t sent the full footage.
At first, he was angry at the Dragon Country Police for withholding part of the video, but he soon came to understand their reasoning.
In the phone call just now, although the person hadn’t said it outright, the implication was clear.
A very important criminal had escaped from Dragon Country to the United States.
And this time, the Dragon Country Police weren’t planning to give up the chase like before. They intended to use his influence to pursue the fugitive in the U.S.
Especially since the person who killed his grandson was closely tied to this fugitive and was currently helping him evade capture, making the search incredibly difficult.
Old Morgan understood exactly what that meant. But for now, he didn’t think it was time to accept help from the Dragon Country Police.
Of course, if the New York Police Department proved too incompetent to catch even a murderer like this, he wouldn’t stubbornly waste time. He’d look for help from other organizations.
After composing himself, Old Morgan pressed the bell on his desk. The secretary who had been waiting outside the office immediately knocked twice and entered.
With her head slightly bowed, she asked respectfully, “Sir, your instructions?”
“Chairman.”
“Do you have any orders for me?”
Old Morgan turned the laptop in front of him toward his secretary, his tone leaving no room for argument.
“Give this video to that useless Walker.”
“Tell him he has three days to find the killer of Little Morgan, along with his henchmen, their families, and every friend or relative they have.”
“Remember, my patience is limited. I expect good news by tomorrow.”
Upon hearing this, the secretary quickly stepped forward, picked up the laptop, and nodded respectfully.
“Understood, Chairman.”
“I’ll copy the video immediately and deliver it to Chief Walker, with strict instructions that not a single detail is to be leaked.”
With that, the secretary turned to leave. But just as he was about to step out of the office, Old Morgan seemed to recall something and spoke again, his tone serious.
“One more thing.”
“Gather information on the Dragon Country Police’s recent efforts to crack down on the drug trafficking organization…”
