by MarineTLChapter 382: Using the Consortium to Pressure J, the Real Cause of Little Morgan’s Death?
Inside the president’s office at Morgan Tower on Wall Street.
Old Morgan slowly set down his private phone, his aged face heavy with emotion. It was clear that the recent conversation had affected him deeply.
The words he had just exchanged with Su Ming kept echoing in his mind. He couldn’t help but wonder: if he hadn’t been so strict with Little Morgan, could this tragedy have been avoided?
If he had allowed him a bit of indulgence, let him go to bars and nightclubs in moderation, would Little Morgan have still felt the need to ditch his bodyguards just to sneak out?
Just as Su Ming had said, if the bodyguards had been with Little Morgan, then no matter how arrogant or reckless J was, he likely wouldn’t have dared to lay a hand on him.
Let alone abduct him to the New York Harbor in the middle of the night and subject him to such brutal torture.
Thinking of this, Old Morgan was overwhelmed with guilt. But beneath that guilt was a seething fury and a burning desire to tear the murderer apart with his own hands.
He took a deep breath, forcing down the storm of emotions within him, then pressed the call button on his desk.
A few seconds later, the office door was knocked on. A secretary in formal attire stepped in, head slightly bowed in a respectful posture.
“President.”
“Do you have any instructions?”
Old Morgan tapped his fingers on the desk, his gaze sharp and commanding.
“Send the past six months of Little Morgan’s bank card transaction records to Chief Su Ming.”
“And besides the bank records, send over the list of his so-called friends, along with his usual hobbies and lifestyle habits. Everything.”
“Do it immediately.”
The secretary nodded without hesitation and replied promptly.
“Understood.”
“I’ll compile everything now and send it to Chief Su Ming as quickly as possible.”
With that, the secretary turned and briskly left the office.
Even though she had kept her head down and hadn’t looked at Old Morgan’s expression, she could clearly sense the simmering rage in his voice.
After the secretary left, Old Morgan closed his eyes briefly. Once again, images from the video of Little Morgan being tortured played unbidden in his mind, making him clench his fists tightly.
He stood up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling windows behind him, gazing out at the dazzling lights of Wall Street. His heart was once again filled with a storm of emotions.
…
At that moment.
Inside a conference room at the New York Police Department.
As Su Ming placed his phone on the table, Chief Walker, standing beside him, gave a heartfelt thumbs-up and exclaimed with admiration.
“Chief Su Ming.”
“You’re truly incredible. I’ve never seen any officer who could deduce so many clues from what seemed like a completely uninformative victim identity.”
“When you first suggested that CEO Morgan and Young Master Morgan might not have had a good relationship, I swear my heart skipped a beat.”
“To be honest, the top financial groups in the United States absolutely hate outsiders prying into their family affairs. They see it as an invasion of their privacy.”
“But to my surprise, when you brought it up just now, CEO Morgan wasn’t angry at all. In fact, he was surprisingly cooperative.”
“That really is…”
At this point, Chief Walker trailed off, at a loss for words. He didn’t know how to describe Su Ming’s exceptional investigative skills and deductive reasoning.
But then, a thought struck him. If Su Ming could uncover this much just from identifying one female corpse, then once the identities of the remaining unidentified bodies were confirmed, wouldn’t that provide even more leads to catch the killer?
In that case, his own decision to push for immediate DNA testing was a contribution too.
Plus, he had just established a good rapport with Liu Yang. If he could get Liu Yang to put in a good word for him with Su Ming, then when CEO Morgan started handing out rewards after the case was solved, surely Su Ming wouldn’t forget him.
This kind of roundabout tactic could be his chance to climb aboard the Morgan Financial Group’s ship.
Though he wasn’t skilled in criminal investigation, Chief Walker was a master at flattery and reading the room. He quickly figured out the angle and said decisively:
“Chief Su Ming.”
“I’ll leave you to your work. I’m going to go light a fire under those damn fools.”
“We need to identify the other bodies as fast as possible. That’s the only way to uncover more detailed clues and find the killer hiding in the shadows.”
With that, the energized Chief Walker jogged off, belly bouncing, heading straight to the forensics department to personally oversee the identification process.
Watching him trot off excitedly, Liu Yang chuckled with a look of approval and said with a sigh:
“Team Leader Su.”
“Looks like Chief Walker finally figured out how to earn himself some credit.”
At Liu Yang’s teasing, Lin Tian couldn’t help but shake his head with a hint of helplessness. He steered the conversation back to the case, inhaling the scent of tobacco on his fingers as he spoke.
“Xiao Ming’s deduction just now is very plausible.”
“If Little Morgan never went to Knight Bar before, then there’s a high chance someone deliberately lured him there or spread the information intentionally.”
“But I don’t think… that kind of deliberate spread came from J.”
“If J had deliberately spread the word, then logically, he wouldn’t have killed Little Morgan.”
“Knight Bar’s main business is pimping, using that as a way to connect with elite figures in the United States.”
“That means, if J had spread the info on purpose, he would have expected some high-profile figure to show up for the famous model being trafficked.”
“So if he was prepared for that, why would he kill Little Morgan?”
“You have to understand, Little Morgan was one of the top elite figures in the United States. Those NBA stars and Hollywood celebrities don’t even come close.”
Bai Yu nodded in agreement, lightly tapping his pipe on the table. After a moment of thought, he added:
“Exactly.”
“If J spread the word, there’d be no reason to kill Little Morgan.”
“But… J went out of his way to get Ellie from Q, all to raise the level and quality of Knight Bar’s pimping operation.”
“So why not spread the word to attract other elites? Instead, he kills Little Morgan, who came on his own. That just doesn’t fit with The Organization’s usual style.”
“The more you think about it, the more the logic just doesn’t add up.”
Hearing Lin Tian and Bai Yu’s doubts, Su Ming narrowed his eyes and fell silent for a few seconds. Then he replied with utmost seriousness:
“There’s one thing we can be sure of for now.”
“J is extremely arrogant and reckless. He clearly didn’t consider the consequences of killing Little Morgan.”
“That suggests J likely holds absolute authority in Knight Bar and doesn’t tolerate anyone going against his will.”
“So is it possible… that Little Morgan made a demand that violated J’s principles, something he absolutely couldn’t accept, and even threatened J using the name of Morgan Financial Group?”
“In that case, J would have been completely provoked, and that’s what led to the tragedy.”
“I think… from the way J tortured and killed Little Morgan in the video, we can actually infer that…”
Before he could finish speaking,
The phone on the table suddenly rang with an urgent tone.
When Su Ming picked it up, answered, and put it on speaker, his secretary’s voice came through right away.
“Hello, Chief Su Ming.”
“I’ve gathered all the information on Young Master Morgan and sent it to your email. Please take a moment to check it…”
