by MarineTLChapter 381: The Pain Little Morgan Suffered Before Death, J Must Repay Tenfold
Su Ming’s meaning was very clear.
Even Old Morgan, who had never been involved in criminal investigations, could hear the implication behind his words.
Although Little Morgan was still young and couldn’t resist the allure of nightclubs and bars, he would often sneak off to such places behind his bodyguards’ backs.
Despite his special status as the sole heir to the financial group, Old Morgan hadn’t gone out of his way to keep his existence a secret.
So while not everyone knew him, at least a significant portion of people in the United States could recognize Little Morgan by face.
If Little Morgan frequently visited Knight Bar, there was no way J would pass up the chance to befriend him. And if they had already established some kind of relationship, even if a conflict broke out, it wouldn’t have escalated to the point where J would choose to kill him.
Which could only mean… the day the incident occurred was most likely Little Morgan’s first time at Knight Bar.
But why would Little Morgan suddenly go to Knight Bar on that particular day?
Coincidentally, that was also the day Ellie was first brought into Knight Bar as merchandise. There was undoubtedly something unknown going on behind the scenes.
To call it a coincidence would be far too convenient. It was just too perfect how all these pieces lined up.
…
Old Morgan’s voice immediately dropped, clearly suppressing his anger as he spoke slowly.
“Chief Su Ming.”
“So what you’re saying is… someone was targeting Morgan Financial Group, luring our only heir, Little Morgan, to Knight Bar.”
“Then used that so-called J to eliminate him?”
Since Su Ming had the speakerphone on, Chief Walker, standing nearby, heard Old Morgan’s question loud and clear.
His expression instantly shifted, a complex mix of emotions flashing across his face. He couldn’t help but feel that all the slaps he’d taken earlier might have been for nothing.
If it turned out that another financial group really was pulling strings behind the scenes, then his earlier suspicions weren’t wrong after all. Some major conglomerate or business empire really was trying to make a move against Morgan Financial Group.
But before Walker could finish that thought, Su Ming immediately dismissed the possibility without hesitation.
“Unlikely.”
“If this was orchestrated by another financial group, I don’t think Knight Bar would’ve lasted until just a few days ago before being completely destroyed.”
“As top-tier financial entities, they’d be well aware of how fierce and extreme Morgan Financial Group’s retaliation would be. They wouldn’t have left J and Knight Bar around this long.”
“Besides, I believe the Poker Organization has always kept a low profile. They’re not the type to become someone else’s tool.”
“So personally, I suspect the information came from one of Little Morgan’s so-called friends, or from another club or bar. That’s the direction we need to investigate thoroughly.”
At that moment, Chief Walker’s already conflicted expression turned to one of shock. He couldn’t help but feel a mix of awe and confusion.
He didn’t understand how Su Ming could deduce so much from what seemed like so little actual information, even ruling out some highly plausible theories right off the bat.
Before Walker could think further, Old Morgan’s deep voice came through again.
“Chief Su Ming.”
“I basically understand what you’re saying. And I agree that, based on my own judgment, those large financial groups and business empires wouldn’t resort to something so extreme it could be considered an act of war.”
“But I don’t know how else I can assist you. As for Little Morgan’s so-called friends, I already questioned them before he went missing.”
“They all told me they didn’t know where he went. And I can guarantee they wouldn’t dare lie to me.”
“Because they all know what would happen if I found out they were hiding something.”
At this, Su Ming’s gaze sharpened slightly. Without hesitation, he spoke.
“Nothing to do with his friends? Then the information must’ve come from another club or bar?”
“If that’s the case, the difficulty of the investigation shouldn’t be too high. At the very least, there should be some trace to follow.”
He paused for two seconds, then narrowed his eyes and continued.
“CEO Morgan, I need access to Little Morgan’s bank card transaction records for the past six months.”
“Digital payments aren’t very convenient in the United States. Most wealthy individuals still prefer using cards, so there should definitely be a trail.”
“As long as we can get those records, I believe identifying which clubs or bars he frequented won’t be too difficult.”
“Even though I can’t say for sure whether this will help us uncover J’s identity, at the very least, it’s a lead we can follow.”
“And as a police officer, my job is to dig up every possible lead, then determine which one ultimately points clearly to the killer.”
Silence.
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line.
Then came Old Morgan’s low, cooperative voice.
“Understood.”
“I’ll have White, my secretary, contact you shortly and send over Little Morgan’s bank card records from the past six months.”
“Chief Su Ming, I truly respect your investigative skills and capabilities.”
“So I will cooperate with you unconditionally to the best of my ability. But I hope you can act quickly… and bring the person who killed Little Morgan before me.”
“The pain Little Morgan suffered before his death, I want it repaid tenfold…”
