Chapter 48: You Got a Promotion

“Hehe, I accidentally took an order too.”

Wei Yan scratched his head with a sheepish smile.

    “How much?”

Chen Mo’s bad feeling grew stronger.

“Not much, not much, just a one-million-yuan order.”

    “How much?”

Chen Mo thought he had misheard.

“One million. But the payment will be made in two installments. Tomorrow, they’ll transfer six hundred thousand to our company account, and after we complete half the production, they’ll send the remaining four hundred thousand.”

Wei Yan smiled as he explained, seeing Chen Mo’s stunned expression.

“Boss Chen, you don’t need to be so shocked. The main reason is that our clothing factory uses much better fabric than others. At the same price, of course, customers would choose us. So, securing this big order is actually thanks to you.”

“It’s all because of you, Boss Chen. High-quality products naturally sell well.”

    “So it’s my doing?”

Chen Mo looked up at Wei Yan expressionlessly.

“Of course! If it weren’t for your decision to use premium fabric, getting orders wouldn’t be this easy. Even the new hires managed to secure deals because of it.”

    Wei Yan nodded confidently.

“I see. You can leave now.”

Chen Mo rubbed his temples hard, waving his hand weakly.

He just wanted some peace and quiet.

So, sales were booming because of him?

If he had known, he would’ve stuck with the old, cheap fabric.

He had always wondered why orders had started flooding in after he took over the factory. Even after trying to curb Wei Yan’s enthusiasm, business was still booming.

Now he finally knew the reason—it was all his fault!

But switching back to low-quality fabric was impossible now.

The only solution was to make adjustments on the personnel side.

Wei Yan was just too capable—he had to get him out of the sales department. But where could he transfer him?

    Right!

Didn’t Fang Chang mention earlier that his department was understaffed? He could send Wei Yan there to help!

Giving him the position of Office Director would count as a promotion, plus a pay raise. That way, it wouldn’t be considered a violation by the system.

Sure enough, there was no system warning for this decision.

Since the system allowed it, Chen Mo had no reason to hold back. Finally, he could get Wei Yan out of the sales department!

With Wei Yan gone, even with the high-quality fabric, the remaining rookie salesperson wouldn’t be able to bring in that many orders.

He’d announce the decision at tomorrow’s meeting.

For now, he needed to figure out how to spend the incoming money.

Wei Yan’s six-hundred-thousand-yuan order, plus the rookie’s one-hundred-thousand, totaled seven hundred thousand.

Cangxue Games had over thirty workstations—replacing all the chairs would cost about three hundred thousand.

That would leave four hundred thousand.

Speaking of fabric, the factory’s stock was running low. He could order a new batch for around three hundred thousand.

That would leave one hundred thousand.

With that, he could organize a company retreat to help employees from the game company and clothing factory get to know each other.

That would take care of the seven hundred thousand completely.

Chen Mo calculated carefully, feeling relieved that the company had plenty of expenses. Otherwise, getting rid of sudden influxes of money would be a real headache.

And thankfully, this order didn’t appear suddenly at the system’s settlement—it was handled in advance for once. At least Wei Yan did one useful thing this time!

    The Next Day

    Outside the workshop,

Chen Mo watched the employees jogging with great interest, especially enjoying the sight of Wei Yan and Li Shen panting heavily.

Unfortunately, once Wei Yan transferred to Cangxue Games, he wouldn’t get to see this anymore.

But getting him out of sales was more important.

After all, despite all the running, Wei Yan had still secured a million-yuan order. It was better to move him elsewhere so he’d stop making so much money!

Soon, the employees finished their jog and returned to the workshop to start their work.

“Wei Yan, come to my office later.”

Chen Mo called out as Wei Yan finished running.

    “Got it, Boss Chen!”

Wei Yan, still catching his breath, quickly responded.

    In the Office

Chen Mo hadn’t waited long before Wei Yan arrived.

Judging by his damp hair, he must’ve just taken a shower.

    “Boss Chen, what’s up?”

    Wei Yan asked curiously.

    “Sit down first. Let’s talk.”

Chen Mo smiled kindly and gestured to the chair in front of his desk.

Once Wei Yan sat down, he continued,

“Wei Yan, you’ve been in sales for quite some time. Have you ever thought about moving up the ladder?”

“Boss Chen, I’m just a salesman. How could I move up? All I can do is work hard, bring in more orders, and earn more commissions.”

Wei Yan gave a wry smile.

He hadn’t studied much as a kid and had started working young. He lacked the skills for technical jobs, so sales—one of the few fields with a low barrier to entry—was his only option.

From struggling to get a single deal to now having a wide network of clients, he had built his career entirely on sales.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to climb higher—he just didn’t know how.

“Not necessarily. You know, I recently acquired a game company, and they’re short on staff. I’m planning to transfer you there as the Office Director. What do you think?”

“And don’t worry—the salary will be higher than what you make in sales. Plus, you won’t have to run around meeting clients every day anymore.”

Chen Mo didn’t beat around the bush.

“Boss Chen, I didn’t even finish school. How can I be an Office Director? I wouldn’t even know what to do!”

    Wei Yan smiled bitterly.

Hearing this, Chen Mo was secretly thrilled.

That’s exactly what he wanted! If Wei Yan actually knew how to do the job, Chen Mo wouldn’t dare send him there!

But outwardly, he continued to persuade him.

“That’s no problem. You can learn! With all the resources available online, you can take some courses and improve as you go.”

“And the game company urgently needs help. I don’t trust new hires, and after much consideration, you’re the only one I can rely on.”

Hearing this, Wei Yan’s eyes grew misty.

For the first time in his life, someone genuinely believed in him.

For the first time, he felt truly valued.
