Chapter 37: Such a Familiar Scene

Chen Mo frowned upon hearing this. His original intention was to keep the employee structure unchanged.

After all, the current staff allocation was causing the company to lose money. If any changes led to profitability, wouldn’t that be a huge loss for him?

However, the other party lowering the price made things a bit difficult for him.

    Spending money—was that easy?

Meng Lei had been observing Chen Mo’s expression the entire time. Now, seeing him frown, his heart sank to rock bottom.

Even a price reduction wasn’t enough?

    “President Meng!”

Chen Mo spoke with deep meaning.

Meng Lei forced a bitter smile upon hearing him.

Usually, when people said such things, it was followed by words of rejection.

In the end, he still couldn’t save those employees…

However, Chen Mo didn’t notice Meng Lei’s expression and continued speaking.

“People, above all else, must have credibility. I just said I would acquire it at the set price. If I change it now, wouldn’t that make me a man who goes back on his word?”

“So, the acquisition price remains 1.5 million—no changes.”

“As for the employees, hiring new ones would be too much trouble. Let’s keep all the current staff and maintain their positions as they are.”

“President Chen, you’re… keeping all the employees?”

Meng Lei was so excited that he was stumbling over his words. He never expected that after all that, Chen Mo’s conclusion would be to retain all the employees.

    “That’s right.”

Chen Mo nodded, looking at Meng Lei in confusion.

He didn’t understand why the man was so emotional over simply keeping the employees.

After getting Chen Mo’s confirmation, Meng Lei quickly stood up, walked over to Chen Mo, and bowed deeply.

“President Chen, thank you. On behalf of all the employees of Cangxue Games, I sincerely thank you.”

Seeing this, Chen Mo hurriedly helped Meng Lei up.

Meng Lei looked at least in his forties—having him bow like this felt like it would shorten his lifespan.

After a round of gratitude, Tang Qiu pulled out the documents and spoke at the right moment.

“Gentlemen, if the terms are finalized and there are no further issues, let’s proceed with signing the contract.”

With that, she handed the pre-prepared contracts to both of them.

Chen Mo took the contract and, without reading it carefully, signed it directly.

Meng Lei, on the other hand, examined it carefully. Seeing no problems, he also signed.

With the contract signed, Cangxue Games officially belonged to Chen Mo.

“President Chen, let me introduce you to the company’s employees as part of the formal handover.”

Meng Lei closed the contract, visibly relieved. Now that both the company and its employees were settled, all that remained was the handover—after which he could leave in peace.

    “Alright.”

    Chen Mo nodded.

    Employee Office Area

“Everyone, pause your work for a moment. I have an announcement to make.”

Meng Lei walked into the office area, clapped his hands, and spoke loudly.

All the employees raised their heads in unison at his call.

“You all know the difficulties the company has been facing. I truly appreciate that you’ve remained here through it all.”

“But after today, I will no longer be leading you. From now on, President Chen Mo, standing beside me, will be taking over the company.”

As he spoke, he gestured toward Chen Mo.

All the employees turned their gazes toward Chen Mo, curiosity evident in their eyes.

“Hello, everyone. I’m Chen Mo. There’s no need to worry—just continue working as you have before.”

Sensing the numerous stares, Chen Mo greeted them with a wave.

Meng Lei stood quietly to the side, waiting for Chen Mo to continue speaking.

But after waiting for a while, no further words came.

Was that it? Shouldn’t he say something like “let’s work hard together” or “let’s strive for a better future” to boost morale?

President Chen’s way of doing things was truly unique!

With a silent sigh, he stepped forward and said, “Everyone, let’s give him a warm round of applause.”

    Thunderous applause erupted.

Once it died down, he continued, “Later, there will be a compensation payment for everyone. Please come to my office one by one to collect it.”

Although Chen Mo had retained all the employees, Meng Lei still wanted to express his gratitude to those who had worked with him for so many years.

    Back in the Office

Chen Mo immediately transferred the 1.5 million acquisition fee.

    “Thank you, President Chen.”

Meng Lei looked at the transaction confirmation and expressed his gratitude once again.

At the same time, he handed over a thick folder.

“This contains information on all company employees, including their positions and current salaries.”

Chen Mo took the documents and handed them to Shen Rou beside him.

“President Meng, while you’re in your office distributing the compensation, would you mind if I use this time to take care of something else?”

“Do you have an important matter to attend to, President Chen?”

Meng Lei looked at him in confusion.

“Oh, nothing too important. I just figured this would be a good opportunity to pay the employees’ salaries.”

Chen Mo replied with a smile.

When Meng Lei mentioned the compensation payments, he immediately thought about payroll.

Since he had made a tradition of paying early at the garment factory, it only made sense to continue it here.

“Salaries? President Chen, are you referring to this month’s wages? There’s no need—I’ll distribute them along with the compensation payments.”

Meng Lei assumed Chen Mo was referring to the outstanding salaries for the current month.

“Oh, not this month’s salary. I’m talking about next month’s.”

    Chen Mo patiently clarified.

    Meng Lei was dumbfounded.

“But… next month hasn’t even started yet.”

    “Pay first, work later.”

    “Uh…”

Meng Lei was momentarily speechless. Wasn’t President Chen worried that after receiving their salaries, employees might just leave?

Standing behind Chen Mo, Shen Rou chuckled quietly at Meng Lei’s expression.

She was long accustomed to President Chen’s ways.

Tang Qiu, on the other hand, found the scene strangely familiar.

    That’s right.

When acquiring the garment factory, a similar thing had happened.

    Moments Later

A long table had been added to the office.

Chen Mo sat in the center, leisurely sipping tea.

Shen Rou held the employee records, while Tang Qiu operated a calculator.

Looking at the calculator in her hands, Tang Qiu thought—this wasn’t just familiar; it was practically a replay of last time.

    Knock, knock!

There was a knock on the door.

A man in a white shirt slowly walked in. He appeared to be in his thirties.

Fang Chang scanned the office, his gaze pausing briefly on Chen Mo and the others before stepping up to Meng Lei’s desk.

Looking at his former boss, he felt a slight pang of sorrow.

    “President Meng.”

“Mm. The new boss is a good man. Work hard here.”

Meng Lei looked at Fang Chang and offered a word of encouragement.

Fang Chang was the company’s planner and quite capable. Back when Tianlong introduced the VIP system, he had strongly opposed it.

Unfortunately, Meng Lei hadn’t listened at the time.

With a brief moment of reflection, he handed over Fang Chang’s compensation payment.

Fang Chang glanced at the amount received, thanked him, and turned to leave.

But before he reached the door, a voice called out to him.

Turning his head, he saw the new boss, Chen Mo.

Feeling slightly anxious, Fang Chang walked over and hesitantly asked,

“President Chen, do you need something from me?”
