Chapter 35: Is President Chen Hinting at Him?

“No, I’m in a hurry. 1.5 million is acceptable.”

Hearing that Tang Qiu wanted to negotiate the price down, Chen Mo quickly stopped her.

He had finally found an opportunity to spend money—how could he allow the price to be reduced?

Tang Qiu looked at Chen Mo seriously. She truly couldn’t understand what was going on in this young man’s mind. He had the chance to save money, yet he insisted on spending more.

Even if he were a rich second generation, there was no need to be this wasteful, right?

In the end, she could only shake her head helplessly.

“Alright, since President Chen has already decided, we can now contact the person in charge and discuss the acquisition.”

Rather than a discussion, it was more like meeting up to handle the formalities.

After all, with Chen Mo agreeing to the listed price without negotiation, the usual back-and-forth that dragged things out was completely unnecessary here.

“Then I’ll leave it to you, Lawyer Tang.”

    Chen Mo expressed his gratitude.

With the acquisition settled, they didn’t stay in the café for long.

“President Chen, do you really want to acquire that gaming company?”

In the car, Shen Rou couldn’t help but voice her concerns. She had also reviewed the company’s details at the café.

Lawyer Tang’s analysis was spot on—acquiring that company came with a high risk of financial loss.

    “Yes.”

    Chen Mo nodded.

“But that company has been in a loss-making state for a long time. I just did some calculations—if President Chen really wants to start a gaming company, 1.5 million would be enough to establish a new one from scratch.”

Shen Rou eagerly shared her thoughts.

Wouldn’t it be better to start fresh rather than take over a failing business?

Chen Mo inwardly chuckled. Starting a new company wouldn’t burn through money as quickly as an acquisition, and an existing one would save him effort.

However, he responded with a meaningful tone:

“If I can turn a loss-making company into a profitable one, wouldn’t that be even more fulfilling?”

Turn a loss into a profit?

Not a chance. That was never going to happen.

Having a money-burning company that kept draining funds sounded much more enjoyable.

Hearing this, Shen Rou was momentarily stunned as she looked at Chen Mo’s profile. She hadn’t expected President Chen to think this way.

    Yes…

Relying on one’s own efforts to transform a failing company into a profitable one—it did sound like an incredible achievement.

Her perspective had been too narrow, too focused on immediate gains and losses.

It seemed she needed to work even harder. If she couldn’t keep up with President Chen’s pace, her position as his assistant might soon be given to someone else.

Determined, Shen Rou silently motivated herself.

“Did you remember everything I just explained?”

Wei Yan looked at the young man in front of him, feeling a bit of a headache.

This morning, Assistant Shen had informed him that the company had hired a new salesperson and asked him to mentor the recruit.

He had assumed it would be someone with experience, but upon meeting, he found out it was a complete newcomer.

It wasn’t that he looked down on rookies. The problem was that the company was currently in a critical phase and urgently needed orders to bring in revenue.

Yet a newcomer, without any resources or connections, would struggle to secure deals in the short term.

    “I remember, Brother Yan.”

    Wu Yu nodded obediently.

“Alright, then follow me for the next few days and observe how I do things.”

Wei Yan rubbed his forehead, seeing no other choice but to personally train him.

With a sigh, he lamented that he had finally gotten a break from President Chen’s special assignments and could focus on bringing in sales—only to suddenly be saddled with mentoring a newbie.

    “Thank you, Brother Yan!”

Wu Yu quickly expressed his gratitude and handed Wei Yan a cup of water.

“Brother Yan, you must be thirsty. Have some water.”

Wei Yan accepted the cup and nodded to himself. Although the young man was inexperienced, he at least had good interpersonal skills. With proper guidance, he might turn into a decent salesperson.

“Let’s go. There’s still some time left today. I have an appointment with a client, so I’ll take you along to meet them.”

Saying that, he patted Wu Yu on the shoulder and led him out of the sales office.

    Wu Yu hurried to follow.

    “Good day, President Chen!”

Just as they left the office, Wei Yan saw Chen Mo and his group returning from outside.

    “Heading out?”

Chen Mo looked at Wei Yan and felt a little wary. Was this guy up to something again?

“Oh, just taking Wu along to meet a client,” Wei Yan replied, pointing at Wu Yu behind him.

Chen Mo glanced at Wu Yu.

He remembered this young man—he was someone he had personally chosen for the sales team.

Fresh out of college, with no prior sales experience.

Bringing a complete novice to meet a client… That probably wouldn’t result in any successful deals.

But then again, he couldn’t let Wu Yu stay under Wei Yan’s wing for too long.

If he gained too much experience, that would be problematic.

After thinking for a moment, Chen Mo spoke:

“Meeting clients is good, but in sales, you ultimately have to rely on yourself. Only by personally facing difficulties will you grow faster.”

    “I understand, President Chen!”

Wei Yan’s expression shifted, and he suddenly felt enlightened.

    Yes…

He had gotten to where he was today by stumbling through setbacks. No one had mentored him along the way.

A greenhouse flower couldn’t withstand storms.

Ah, President Chen was giving him a hint!

He would let Wu Yu familiarize himself with the process today, but starting tomorrow, he’d have him handle things on his own.

After all, he had plenty of clients—too many for one person to manage. He might as well delegate some to the newbie.

    “We’ll be off, President Chen.”

After a quick farewell, Wei Yan swiftly led Wu Yu away.

“…He understood? What did he understand?”

Chen Mo watched them leave with a confused expression.

    Cangxue Games.

“Old Meng, there’s news on the company trading platform—someone wants to acquire our company!”

Zheng Hongyun burst excitedly into the office.

    “What’s the situation?”

Meng Lei, hearing the news, urgently asked.

“I just got a call. Someone is interested in acquiring us, and they’ll come by tomorrow for a detailed discussion.”

“What about the price? Did they mention how much they’re offering?”

“They didn’t say. The call only confirmed their intent to buy—nothing else.”

Zheng Hongyun finally calmed down a bit and realized that, in his excitement over receiving an offer, he had forgotten to ask about the price.

Although they had set a listing price on the trading platform, he knew that once the buyer learned about their situation, they would definitely try to bargain it down.

“Should I call back and ask?”

“Forget it. Since they’re coming tomorrow, we might as well discuss it in person.”

Meng Lei waved it off. Even if they called now, the price wouldn’t be finalized over the phone. It was better to negotiate face-to-face.

But he was well aware that the buyer would likely try to lower the price.

A slightly lower offer was still acceptable.

What he truly cared about were the company’s employees.

If the buyer refused to retain them, those employees would be facing unemployment.
