    Chapter 277: Wang Yang’s Business

“President Chen, is this really the food served in your company cafeteria?”

Wang Bin couldn’t help but ask as he gazed at the array of colorful, aromatic, and mouthwatering dishes.

With food like this, you could open a restaurant and do just fine.

“That’s right. The chefs in our group’s cafeteria are all star-rated professionals,” Chen Mo replied with a smile and a nod.

To funnel more funds through the cafeteria, he had increased the number of daily dishes from six to ten.

The official reason? As the company grew, so did the variety of employee tastes. Naturally, offering more dishes ensured everyone could find something they liked.

Seeing Chen Mo nod in confirmation, both Luo Xiao and Wang Bin couldn’t help but marvel. They had never seen a company cafeteria with such high-quality meals—especially not ones that were free.

“President Chen, do you have any general direction in mind for the movie’s theme?”

During the meal, Luo Xiao asked cautiously. Even though President Chen had already entrusted him with full responsibility for the film project, he still felt it was better to clarify.

“How do you usually choose your film topics?” Chen Mo asked in return, thinking to himself, *How would I know what kind of theme to pick?*

*I chose you because you have a real talent for making flops. So just go with whatever theme you want.*

“I usually pick scripts from online script platforms. There’s no fixed genre,” Luo Xiao explained. “But the quality of those scripts varies wildly. It’s hard to guarantee a hit.”

“I’d recommend hiring a professional screenwriter and commissioning a script. That way, even if the movie doesn’t become a blockbuster, at least there’s a baseline quality. Even if we lose money, it won’t be too much.”

He laid out his thoughts slowly and carefully.

Hiring a professional screenwriter? That was out of the question.

*I’m making this movie to lose money,* Chen Mo thought to himself. Smiling at Luo Xiao, he said, “Hiring a screenwriter takes too much time. We need to get this film into production quickly. Just do what you did before—buy a script off one of those platforms. As for the genre, trust your instincts and pick whatever feels right.”

    “I believe in your talent!”

Luo Xiao was deeply moved by President Chen’s words.

Ever since he made two box office flops, no one believed in him anymore. Even his own family told him he wasn’t cut out for filmmaking and should try something else.

But President Chen still believed in him. How could he not be touched?

“Don’t worry, President Chen. I’ll give it my all,” Luo Xiao said earnestly.

    At Chenglin Decoration,

Wang Yang gently knocked on Supervisor Qi Bu’s office door.

    “Come in!”

Hearing the voice from inside, Wang Yang pushed the door open and walked in.

“Ah, Xiao Yang! Come, have a seat. What brings you here?” Qi Bu quickly stood up to greet him when he saw who it was.

After sitting down, Wang Yang looked at the smiling Qi Bu and spoke slowly.

“Brother Qi, I do have something I need to ask you.”

Ever since he won the Annual Sales Champion award, Qi Bu had told him to drop the formal titles.

“Is it about a renovation project?” Qi Bu asked as he poured Wang Yang a glass of water.

Wang Yang nodded. “Yes. I wanted to ask—do we take on out-of-town projects?”

Just before clocking out yesterday, the Mingri Group had contacted him. They mentioned a renovation job in Beijing and asked if they could handle it.

Wang Yang wasn’t sure, so he came to ask Supervisor Qi Bu.

“Is this for President Chen’s project?”

“Yes. They said there are five coffee shops in Beijing that need renovations.”

Hearing that, Qi Bu’s eyes lit up, and he fell into deep thought.

After a while, he looked at Wang Yang again.

“How many Nanhe Coffee shops have you renovated in Jiangcheng so far?”

“Twenty,” Wang Yang replied without hesitation. Just yesterday, he’d gone over all the work he’d done for President Chen and tallied up the number of coffee shops.

    Twenty shops!

Qi Bu murmured to himself, then a hint of excitement appeared on his face.

“Wait here a bit. I’ll check with headquarters.”

Wang Yang nodded and watched as Qi Bu stepped aside to make a call.

    After a while, he returned.

“You can go ahead and tell them—we’re good to take on the out-of-town project.”

If it were just a single store, they wouldn’t have agreed.

After all, travel expenses and accommodations for the workers would be a significant cost.

But Nanhe Coffee was a different story.

With twenty shops already renovated in Jiangcheng, it was clear that the market there was nearly saturated.

Now that Nanhe Coffee was opening branches in Beijing, it meant that President Chen was planning to expand the brand into the capital.

Given their previous expansion rate—five new stores per month—it was safe to assume that once the renovation team was stationed there, they’d have five shops to work on each month.

And with how bustling Beijing was, twenty stores wouldn’t be the limit.

    They could easily hit sixty.

That would be enough work to keep a renovation team busy for an entire year.

And the best part? They’d only need to handle this one client. No need for salespeople to chase new leads. The renovation team just needed to be big enough to handle five shops at once.

After laying all this out, headquarters had immediately approved the project.

Of course, it was possible that things wouldn’t go as expected. Maybe after five shops, Nanhe Coffee would stop expanding.

But even just five renovations would be enough to ensure the trip wouldn’t lose money.

In short, this was a guaranteed win. No renovation company would turn it down.

“Alright, Brother Qi, I’ll go ahead and let them know,” Wang Yang said, clearly pleased by the news.

He stood up, ready to leave.

But Qi Bu called out to him again.

“Brother Qi, is there something else?” Wang Yang turned back, puzzled.

“Here’s the situation: the Beijing project was brought in through your contacts, so naturally, the credit—and responsibility—goes to you.”

“But considering that if you go to Beijing yourself, and then more renovation jobs come up here in Jiangcheng, it’d be a huge hassle for you to keep running back and forth.”

“I just had a quick discussion with headquarters, and we’ve made a decision.”

“The Beijing project will be handled by another designer, who’ll take care of the design work and supervise the renovation teams over there.”

“But don’t worry, we’re not handing over the whole job to them. You’ll still get 60% of the commission from the renovation fees. The designer going over will only get 40%.”

“At the same time, your position will be upgraded from Designer to Supervisor, on the same level as me, with all the benefits and perks that come with it.”

    “What do you think?”

Qi Bu quickly laid out the plan he’d just discussed with headquarters.

    Wang Yang was stunned.

The offer was incredibly generous. The Beijing project would earn him 60% of the commission—for doing practically nothing. That was basically making money in his sleep.

“Brother Qi, I’m good with this. But can I choose the salesperson who’ll be going to Beijing?”
