by MarineTLChapter 141: A Happy Day for the Employees
“How are you planning to do the promotional warm-up?”
Wang Maonian looked at Li Shen in confusion.
“Short online videos, live streaming—those all work!”
Li Shen was brimming with excitement.
“It was actually Lawyer Tang who inspired me. We can totally turn the company’s cafeteria, dormitories… and other workplace environments into short videos and post them on video platforms.”
“We also have photos and videos from company team-building events and sports days. I’ll go back and edit those.”
“Then occasionally live stream a typical workday of our employees. I believe with the benefits and working conditions we offer here at our clothing factory, it’ll definitely attract a lot of attention.”
“I’ve already got the name for the account—A Happy Day for Employees (Changfeng Clothing).”
“Will that really work?”
Wang Maonian was still a bit doubtful.
“There’s hardly any cost, so why not try it? If we attract a lot of attention, that would give our factory some early publicity.”
“If it doesn’t work out, there’s no real loss. It’s still better than doing nothing every day.”
Li Shen leaned back in his chair, letting out a sigh.
“True.”
Wang Maonian nodded in agreement. His job was pretty relaxed—three meals a day, and then not much else to do.
If he were working at a hotel, he’d be busy from morning to night.
But once the new employees arrive, he’ll finally have something to do. He’d heard they were hiring 70 new workers.
At least the cafeteria would get a bit livelier during mealtimes.
Usually, the only people eating there were a few from the cafeteria team and a dozen or so from the workshop.
It made the spacious cafeteria, which could accommodate over a hundred people, look incredibly empty and desolate.
In fact, if they replaced those expensive four-seater tables with long communal ones, they could easily fit two to three hundred people.
It would save money and create more seating.
But President Chen had outright rejected that idea, insisting on the more expensive dining tables, making the employee cafeteria even more luxurious than some restaurants outside.
Totally extravagant.
But the work environment—now that was truly nice.
Even if someone offered him higher pay to go back to hotel work, he wouldn’t take it.
…
“Old Lu, you’ll stay in this dorm. Once more new employees who need lodging join, someone else will be assigned here. I live diagonally across from you—come find me if you need anything.”
After the clothing factory’s workday ended,
Jiang Cheng brought Lu Zhenguo, who had completed his onboarding today, to the dorm and assigned him an empty room.
Lu Zhenguo stood frozen, staring at the dorm’s furnishings. He’d heard the benefits here were good, but hadn’t imagined this good.
There was air-conditioning, a TV, a private bathroom… Compared to his old dorm, where ten guys shared a room, this place was practically heaven!
“Alright, get yourself settled in. Use the next couple of days to familiarize yourself with the work environment. Once the rest of the new hires arrive, you’ll all get onboarding training.”
Jiang Cheng patted Lu Zhenguo on the back and left with a smile. He was genuinely happy that his friend had made it into the company.
…
In a university dorm,
“Yaning-jie, the clothing factory replied. They want us to go in for interviews tomorrow morning.”
Zhou Yu checked the email and said.
“Mm, let’s get ready and check it out tomorrow.”
Xu Yaning nodded in response.
“We’re still going with our original concept, right? Or should we tweak the design a bit to lean more toward popular styles? That might give us a better chance of getting approved.”
Zhou Yu offered the suggestion, and the other two roommates also looked over.
They had faced quite a few setbacks already. Based on past experience, if they stuck too rigidly to their own ideas, it was hard to get approval from fashion companies.
Feeling their gazes, Xu Yaning firmly shook her head.
“Our goal from the start was to create original designs. If we give that up now just to cater to fashion companies’ preferences, what was the point of all our previous persistence?”
The three roommates lowered their heads silently.
Yeah…
If they compromised now, then everything they held on to before would’ve been meaningless.
“Alright, let’s all prep properly and get some rest early.”
With that, Xu Yaning turned to her computer and began organizing materials for tomorrow’s interview.
Seeing this, Zhou Yu and the others also resumed refining their proposals.
The next morning,
The four roommates got up early, washed, did their makeup, dressed neatly, and left campus together for Changfeng Clothing Factory.
“This should be it.”
Zhou Yu confirmed, looking at the sign above the workshop.
“This factory’s so small.”
“The company profile said it’s a thousand square meters, but this workshop looks tiny!”
“Don’t tell me we got scammed. This doesn’t look like a factory that produces branded fashion at all.”
Listening to her roommates’ whispers, Xu Yaning frowned slightly as she looked at the workshop in front of them.
Aside from the huge sign, the factory really didn’t seem impressive. Compared to the factories they’d visited before—those with thousands or even tens of thousands of square meters—this one was tiny.
And what worried her more was: with such a small factory, how many fashion designers could they possibly need?
At most, maybe two. But there were four of them. After sticking together through thick and thin, they couldn’t just abandon one of their own.
“Let’s go in and take a look.”
Xu Yaning sighed. Since they were already here, they had to check it out.
“Excuse me, are you here to interview for fashion designer positions?”
As they pushed the door open, a woman in formal attire walked over.
“Yes!”
Xu Yaning replied.
“Please wait over here. You can hand me your materials. We’ll notify you when it’s your turn to interview.”
Shen Rou led them to seats in the lobby and collected their application materials.
Back in the office,
She handed the documents to President Chen.
“President Chen, here are the interview materials. All eight candidates have arrived.”
Chen Mo took the folders and opened them one by one. He noticed that four of them were fresh graduates, all from the same school.
Hmm.
That actually matched his hiring philosophy pretty well.
But when he looked at their design proposals, he furrowed his brow. The designs from these graduates weren’t as underwhelming as he’d expected. On the contrary, they looked pretty solid.
He thought for a moment.
Then pulled out the proposals from the other four candidates and compared them side by side.
From his perspective, judging by the style and cuts of the clothing designs, there really wasn’t a clear winner.
That made things trickier.
He’d originally planned to choose the person with the weakest portfolio.
Now it seemed that plan had fallen through.
Maybe…
He should just go with the four fresh grads. Compared to the other four experienced designers, the ones without experience were probably the safer bet in the long run.
“President Chen, who should we notify to come in for the interview first?”
Shen Rou stepped forward and asked once she saw Chen had finished reviewing all eight applications.
