Make Money C102
by MarineTLChapter 102: Big Company? That’s It?
As the company’s reception lead, it was naturally Zhao Yang’s job to present the best aspects of the company to these visitors.
And he wasn’t lying—his company’s cafeteria really did offer the best food among all the nearby factory cafeterias. Plus, it was very affordable. You could fill your stomach for less than ten yuan per meal, and breakfast was even cheaper.
Wu Yu showed a hint of interest on his face after listening to Zhao Yang’s introduction.
He had just taken a look around the factory grounds, and indeed, as Zhao Yang had described, this machine tool factory covered a large area. Before arriving, he had also briefly looked into the factory’s background.
This company was already publicly listed.
With a company this big, the staff cafeteria must be impressive, right?
The other workers from the garment factory behind him also looked curious. After all, in all these years, it was their first time seeing such a massive factory.
The entire industrial park actually belonged to just this one company—unbelievable!
Zhao Yang subtly observed the curious expressions of the group behind him and smiled slightly.
He more or less understood their thoughts.
He had received quite a few employees from smaller factories for training before and had a rough idea of their working environments and benefits. Compared to their own machine tool factory, it was simply no contest.
Wait until they got to the cafeteria—they would definitely be even more surprised.
After walking for about five or six minutes, the staff cafeteria came into view.
Wu Yu glanced over and gave a subtle nod.
As expected of a major factory—the cafeteria was enormous.
Zhao Yang stood in front, pointed at the building, and said, “This is the staff cafeteria. It’s two stories and can accommodate several thousand people dining at the same time.”
“And today you’re in luck. I heard we’re having braised pork on the menu.”
With that, he led Wu Yu and the others inside.
Upon entering the cafeteria, Wu Yu glanced around the open space and gradually furrowed his brow.
The moment he stepped in, he felt a stifling heat.
Looking up, he saw ceiling fans hanging at intervals, none of them turned on.
As for air conditioning—he saw no sign of it at all.
“So hot… don’t they have air conditioning in here?” one of the garment factory workers mumbled softly. The others didn’t say anything, but their expressions clearly showed the same doubt.
This machine tool factory was so big—yet they didn’t install AC in the cafeteria?
Zhao Yang’s smiling expression froze a little when he heard that comment.
Installing air conditioning in such a massive cafeteria would be a huge expense. And the electricity bill afterward wouldn’t be small either.
But he couldn’t exactly say that out loud—it would make the company seem stingy.
After thinking for a moment and not knowing how to respond, he simply turned and continued walking ahead, pretending he hadn’t heard anything.
Soon, they arrived at the food service counter.
“You’re here for training, so meals and lodging are provided. You don’t need to pay for food. I’ll give you meal cards later. As long as you show the card, you can eat in the cafeteria for free,” Zhao Yang explained.
“But one thing to keep in mind: don’t waste food.”
At the counter, he went over the details.
“Do your employees normally have to pay to eat here?” Wu Yu asked.
“Yes,” Zhao Yang nodded. “But the prices are very cheap. A meat dish is just a few yuan. You can fill up for about ten yuan.”
“For example, breakfast has a two-yuan set meal: a bowl of porridge, one egg, two steamed buns, and a small side dish.”
“The cafeteria meals are very cost-effective.”
Hearing this, the garment factory workers couldn’t help but think about their own cafeteria—it didn’t charge anything at all, and the food was unlimited.
Although their factory didn’t offer a two-yuan breakfast, their breakfast options were rich: buns, stuffed flatbreads, fried dough sticks, soy milk… a different variety every day.
But there was one thing they had in common: no food waste was allowed.
Zhao Yang didn’t notice the garment workers’ expressions. He simply knocked on the counter and informed the staff inside.
Soon, several dishes were brought out.
“Alright, trays are in the sterilization cabinet over there. Take what you want,” Zhao Yang said, pointing.
Wu Yu led the group to grab trays and got in line at the food counter.
He looked at the dishes: only four items—braised pork, dried tofu, stewed string beans, and a cold dish.
Seeing this, he couldn’t help but compare it to the garment factory cafeteria.
Out of the four, only the braised pork seemed decent, but even then, the color and presentation weren’t as good as what their factory chef made.
After a moment of thought, he chose the braised pork and dried tofu, plus a serving of rice.
At the table, Wu Yu took a bite of the braised pork and began frowning.
It was greasy.
The other garment workers also tasted the food and started whispering to each other.
“This food’s really not great—only four dishes? Our factory has six.”
“The flavor doesn’t compare either. Uncle Wang’s cooking is way better.”
“I thought a big company’s cafeteria would be amazing… turns out it’s just like this?”
Soon after they finished eating, Zhao Yang came over at just the right time.
“Now that you’ve eaten, I’ll take you to the dorms and arrange your accommodations.”
“Our dorms have four beds per room. You have three female workers, so they’ll be placed in the women’s dorms. The remaining seven men will be split into two rooms.”
“Follow me, I’ll take you over.”
The staff dormitory wasn’t far from the cafeteria—just a few dozen meters.
Wu Yu and the others curiously followed Zhao Yang into the building, wondering what a big company’s dorms would be like.
“The women’s dorms are on the right. I’ll take you there in a bit. Let’s visit the men’s side first,” Zhao Yang said, leading them up the stairs on the left.
They arrived on the second floor and finally stopped in front of two rooms at the end of the hall.
“These two are your dorms,” Zhao Yang said, pulling out the keys and unlocking the doors.
Creak—
The door opened.
Everyone curiously stepped inside.
The room wasn’t large. Two bunk beds were arranged inside, and against the wall was a simple metal wardrobe.
Other than the beds and the wardrobe, the room had no other furnishings.
This… was the employee dorm at a big company?
Wu Yu looked around, puzzled. This wasn’t quite what he’d imagined.
“Huh? There’s no bathroom in here?” one of the garment factory workers asked aloud.
