Make Money C57
by MarineTLChapter 57: Can System Funds Be Used for Charity?
“Before each settlement, the host can allocate 10% of the system funds for charitable causes.”
It was actually possible to do charity! Chen Mo was delighted when he saw the system’s response.
However, even if he wanted to do charity, he would have to wait until the next settlement. After all, he had already spent most of this round’s system funds. Less than 100,000 yuan remained, which he had already set aside for a company retreat.
And there were only three days left until the next settlement. Once the new system funds arrived, he could immediately allocate 10% to support an orphanage—how perfect.
Not only would he be doing a good deed, but he would also be spending part of the system funds.
“Chen Mo… Chen Mo.”
“Huh? What’s up?”
Hearing Shen Rou call his name, Chen Mo snapped back to reality.
“Nothing, let’s head back. Granny Wu should have finished cooking by now.”
Shen Rou shook her head and walked out of the dormitory. She had noticed that Chen Mo seemed a bit distracted and had called out to him twice.
After that, the two had lunch at the orphanage and then left.

Tiandi Law Firm
Wu Zhenguo leaned back on the leather sofa, his face serious as he looked at Tang Qiu sitting across from him.
“Tang Qiu, our firm hasn’t treated you poorly, has it?”
“Lawyer Wu and the others have always taken good care of me.”
Tang Qiu adjusted the glasses on the bridge of her nose.
Hearing this, Wu Zhenguo’s face darkened with anger. He stood up abruptly from the sofa and shouted,
“If you know we’ve treated you well, then why did you deliberately lose the lawsuit?”
“Don’t tell me it was due to lack of ability—we know exactly what you’re capable of. Winning this case wouldn’t have been a problem for you.”
“Lawyer Wu, have you ever considered what would happen to that injured family if they lost the case?”
Tang Qiu stood up and asked, unyielding.
She had gone to the hospital and seen them with her own eyes—the wife staying up day and night to care for her husband, with two young children, around five or six years old, relying on her.
The only hope keeping them going was winning the lawsuit and receiving substantial compensation from the company.
“He violated safety regulations—he wasn’t even wearing a protective harness.”
“What happened to him was his own fault.”
“Besides, even though he broke the rules, the company still compensated him with 100,000 yuan. What more do you want?”
Wu Zhenguo slammed the table, glaring at Tang Qiu.
“What do you mean, ‘he wasn’t wearing a safety harness’? The company never even provided one. The ones in place now were only installed after the accident.”
Tang Qiu scoffed.
She had learned the truth from a former employee.
“Tang Qiu, watch what you say. The safety harnesses were always there. All the current employees have confirmed it. How can you claim they weren’t?”
Wu Zhenguo sat back down, his tone calmer, but his expression growing darker.
Their firm had suffered significant financial losses because of this case.
“I know the truth about those safety harnesses. A person shouldn’t go against their conscience. I, Tang Qiu, will never take money earned against my principles.”
Tang Qiu pointed at her own chest. She had chosen to become a lawyer to seek justice.
Now they wanted her to turn a blind eye and make money by betraying her conscience? She couldn’t do it.
“Fine. But do you think deliberately losing the case makes you any less guilty? The company was operating properly, yet because of one employee’s violation, it suffered financial losses and reputational damage. Is that fair?”
“I think you took money from the injured family and threw the case on purpose.”
“Also, since you deliberately lost the lawsuit, causing our firm to suffer heavy losses, you’ll have to compensate us.”
Wu Zhenguo leaned forward, staring at Tang Qiu as he spoke each word clearly.
“When did I ever say I deliberately lost the case? I simply wasn’t skilled enough.”
Tang Qiu looked at Wu Zhenguo as if he were an idiot.
“Oh? You didn’t say it outright, but our entire conversation just now has been recorded. Don’t forget—there’s surveillance here.”
Wu Zhenguo pointed at the ceiling with a sneer.
“The road ahead is long. You’d better be more careful in the future.”
Tang Qiu glanced at the surveillance camera above, her face darkening. She realized that she had been set up by Wu Zhenguo.
With that recorded conversation, even if she hadn’t directly admitted to throwing the case, there was enough implication to suggest she had.
And she had no concrete evidence to prove the company hadn’t provided safety harnesses. All the current employees had backed the company’s claim—it was clear they had been bribed.
As for getting the former employee to testify, the company could easily argue that he was just a disgruntled ex-employee trying to smear them.
And the surveillance footage was in Wu Zhenguo’s hands.
“Thanks for the lesson. I’ve once again witnessed the cruelty of this world.”
Tang Qiu gave Wu Zhenguo a cold glance before turning and leaving.

Monday
Today was exactly the seventh day. Chen Mo wondered whether Fang Chang had finished crafting the equipment.
Bored, he sat in his gaming chair, debating whether to call, when his phone rang first—Fang Chang was calling.
“Boss Chen, the equipment set you requested is ready. How should we put it up for sale?”
Fang Chang’s voice came through the phone, sounding exhausted.
“How did you usually put new items up for sale?”
Chen Mo asked. Since he wanted to ensure the game kept losing money, he couldn’t change anything drastically.
“We always used a lottery system. After a certain number of draws, there’s a guaranteed drop.”
“If someone hits the guaranteed drop for the full set, it usually costs a few thousand yuan.”
Fang Chang explained.
A few thousand yuan?
Those rich competitors of his definitely wouldn’t care about a few thousand.
Chen Mo thought for a moment before speaking.
“Keep the lottery system, but lower the drop rates as much as possible. Increase the number of draws needed for the guaranteed drop.”
“Make sure that getting the full set at the guaranteed drop requires at least 100,000 yuan.”
“And prominently display the drop rates and guaranteed draw numbers in the lottery interface—make it as obvious as possible.”
“Boss Chen, isn’t 100,000 yuan too expensive? I doubt anyone will buy it.”
Fang Chang hesitated. It seemed like Boss Chen didn’t want to sell the equipment at all.
And putting the drop rates and guarantees front and center?
Wasn’t that basically telling players, ‘This is ridiculously expensive—don’t bother’?
That would only make players even less likely to buy it.
“It’s fine. Just do as I said.”
Chen Mo confirmed.
He wanted exactly that—nobody should buy it. Otherwise, he’d start making money.
“Oh, and when the equipment goes up, put a full set into my game account. I want to test how it feels.”
“Got it, Boss Chen.”
Fang Chang agreed.
“Also, inform your employees—tomorrow afternoon, we’re having a company retreat. Both our companies together.”
“I’ll send you the details later.”
Chen Mo suddenly remembered—the retreat had been delayed due to the holiday.
But tomorrow was perfect. He could use up the system funds completely, and the day after, the system would settle the accounts.
This time, there shouldn’t be any surprises.
Wei Yan had already been transferred away. The rookies in the sales department hadn’t made any noteworthy sales.
And that old schemer Li Shen had been unusually quiet.
Everything was going exactly as he had planned.
