Chapter 97: I Must Revive Tianlong

“I understand now. Thank you for the guidance.”

“What’s there to thank? Didn’t President Chen transfer me here so we could work together?”

Wei Yan waved his hand casually.

    “Right, work together.”

Fang Chang nodded in agreement. Then he called Zhao Bowen over—he was ready to start turning Tianlong around.

    Not long after,

Zhao Bowen arrived at the office.

“Manager Fang, what do you need?”

“I want to get an update on the current state of Tianlong. You’ve been keeping an eye on it lately, right? Tell me everything you know.”

    Fang Chang spoke up.

“Oh, that? Yeah, I know all about Tianlong.”

Zhao Bowen perked up immediately. These past few days, he’d been playing the game nonstop after work to better understand the situation. The drop rates were seriously low, though.

Then, he began detailing everything about Tianlong’s current state.

“That’s about it. The players entering the game now are pretty much all here to grind and sell gear.”

Fang Chang fell into deep thought after listening.

    After a long pause,

    He slowly looked up.

“Looks like the key to truly reviving the game lies in figuring out how to convert these gold-farming players into real players.”

Wei Yan also spoke, seemingly thoughtful.

“I’m not very experienced with games, but I do have some thoughts about the in-game item-buying trend.”

“Right now, the only reason players are flooding in is because someone is paying for gear. But if that person disappears, the ones grinding gear will probably stop playing too.”

“So I think we need to monitor the people buying gear closely. If they stop, we should step in—maybe spend some money to recycle the gear ourselves.”

“Of course, we don’t need to pay too much—just a few thousand is fine. As long as the farmers believe someone is still buying their drops, that’ll keep them grinding.”

“That’s probably why President Chen insisted on setting the drop rates so low. If gear is hard to get, the gear buyer won’t be able to complete their set too quickly.”

Wei Yan couldn’t help but sigh inwardly—President Chen had clearly thought all of this through.

    Fang Chang nodded in agreement.

“Just in time—President Chen recently invested in a new project and said that any leftover funds can be used for other games’ operations.”

“If the buyers really do stop, we can use those funds to keep the gear market alive.”

“Also, we can tweak the drop rate system even further. It’s already at the lowest, but we can introduce additional rules.”

“For example, we could set certain gear to have zero drop chance during specific time periods—no matter how many monsters they kill, it won’t drop.”

“This would reduce gear flooding even more and stretch out the buyer’s acquisition time.”

    At this point,

The team exchanged glances—their strategy was becoming clearer.

    Zhao Bowen chimed in too.

“From my recent gameplay, I noticed that many old players who quit did so because the game became too pay-to-win in the late stages. Mid-to-low-tier players had no real experience.”

“If we fix that and boost gameplay, I think a lot of those players would return.”

    Fang Chang agreed.

“Exactly. That’s why President Chen didn’t make his final gear set pay-to-obtain but instead allowed it to drop from monsters.”

“If that’s the case, I think we can develop a batch of free gear that can act as alternatives to the paid gear.”

“We can set a higher drop rate for those so players can get geared up faster and increase their combat power.”

“Same with leveling. Considering that both returning and new players are behind in level, we can increase the XP gained from low-level monsters so they can catch up faster.”

“Fixing both gear and level gaps will massively improve the game experience.”

When Fang Chang finished, Wei Yan spoke up at just the right moment.

“Creating free gear to substitute the expensive sets is a good idea, but we should also consider how the paying players feel.”

“After all, there’s still that ten-thousand-yuan-per-set gear. If it gets replaced too easily, it wouldn’t be fair.”

“I think the drop rate for those substitutes should be set very low, so it’s not too easy to get them.”

    Fang Chang nodded in agreement.

“Right, we can’t completely ignore the VIP players. We need to make them feel unique. We can create a few fancy outfits.”

“These outfits won’t affect combat power but can change the character’s appearance and skill effects.”

“Then we distribute them based on VIP level, sending them directly to the players’ in-game mailbox.”

“This way, we maintain balance while still highlighting the VIP players’ status.”

After Fang Chang finished, Zhao Bowen added:

“While playing recently, I noticed that Tianlong’s classes are too limited. I think we should add more classes, like Warlock, Archer, and so on.”

“Each class can have its own role, with specific gear and skill books tailored to them.”

“These classes can complement each other in teams, allowing for stronger cooperation and more powerful outcomes.”

“Then we can introduce some very powerful super-bosses that require teamwork to defeat. These bosses could drop rewards unavailable from normal monsters.”

Fang Chang and Wei Yan nodded in agreement—it was clear this would make the game a lot more interesting.

Then, the group entered a detailed discussion.

    Finally,

Fang Chang tapped the desk and said:

“Alright, it’s decided. Our top priority is to fix game balance. Replacing gear is easy—we just remodel the original VIP gear but keep the same stats.”

“Next is gameplay improvement. We’ll follow Zhao Bowen’s suggestions for that.”

“Since the gear buyers could pull out at any moment, we need to move quickly with these changes.”

“The company has over 50 employees. I’ve decided to keep only the core team on the new project, and assign everyone else to revamp Tianlong.”

Fang Chang stood before the desk, his gaze shining with newfound determination.

This time, he was going to bring Tianlong back to its peak.

    …………

    At the garment factory,

Yang Dahai slowly parked the car at the company entrance.

Just as Chen Mo got out of the car, he sneezed twice uncontrollably.
