    Chapter 213: Playtesting the Game

Time passed quickly, and soon it was around five in the afternoon.

Manager Lin Zhuqing checked the current sales figures and was surprised to find they had already exceeded two thousand. This included revenue from customers purchasing snacks.

From eight in the morning to five in the afternoon, a total of nearly 40 customers had visited in the nine hours.

Moreover, it was only five o’clock; the peak hours were still ahead from five to eight, when most office workers would be off work.

Next, the Coffee Shop would likely attract another wave of customers.

This was only the first day of opening, and as word spread about the Cat Café, it would definitely draw even more visitors.

What was even more crucial was that through simple interactions with these customers, many expressed their intention to return.

This indicated that they already had some repeat customers.

As long as they accumulated enough, the Coffee Shop wouldn’t have to worry about a lack of customers in the future.

With these thoughts, Song Xia and Su Dan both sighed in relief. From the current perspective, the establishment of the Cat Café was a success.

It was hard to say how far things would develop and how much profit it would bring to Nanhe Coffee.

Meanwhile, the Maid Café would finish renovations in a week, and it was uncertain what kind of place it would become.

Would it be able to bring benefits to Nanhe Coffee like the Cat Café?

    …………

    In the Imperial Capital,

at the Sky Pavilion Game Club.

Chen Cong and Du Ziteng sat in the office.

In the afternoon, they received a call from Cang Xue Game Company, stating that the new game had been successfully developed and inviting them to playtest it.

Everyone in the Heavenly Pavilion had already downloaded the game.

They were just waiting to start playtesting.

“Extreme Survival, sounds like an interesting name, but I wonder what the game is actually like,” Chen Cong said with a smile, looking at the game icon.

    Du Ziteng nodded.

“Let’s give it a try; hopefully it’s not just another boring Competitive Mode.”

Saying that, the two double-clicked the icon and entered the game.

Looking at the mode selection at the top of the game screen, both were momentarily stunned.

    Competitive Mode, Survival Mode.

Both were familiar with Competitive Mode, so there were no surprises. However, they were curious about what Survival Mode offered.

“Which mode should we choose first?” Chen Cong asked, looking at Du Ziteng.

Du Ziteng thought for a moment and replied casually, “Let’s start with Competitive Mode and see if it differs from the other Competitive Modes out there.”

“Okay!” Chen Cong nodded and clicked on Competitive Mode.

They found that this Competitive Mode was similar to other design-related Competitive Modes.

It involved selecting a map and entering battle.

Just as Chen Cong was starting to feel disappointed, he noticed Ghost Mode and Biohazard Mode listed below.

    What mode was this?

He turned to see Du Ziteng looking at him with the same realization.

“Why don’t we try Ghost Mode first?” Du Ziteng suggested.

Chen Cong nodded, and the two entered a Ghost Mode room together.

Once inside, it was the same as Competitive Mode—one player selects one side.

After entering the game, Chen Cong found himself as a ghost.

Since it was his first time in the game, some introductory information and guides appeared on the screen.

Soon, he understood the ghost’s gameplay. Ghosts had no guns, only knives, but they could turn invisible.

Chen Cong found it quite intriguing.

As the game began, he went invisible to spot Du Ziteng’s character and soon found him at the stairs.

Du Ziteng was crouching at the stairs, scanning his surroundings, completely unaware of Chen Cong’s presence nearby.

Chen Cong smiled slightly and crept closer to Du Ziteng.

When he was next to him, he struck down with a knife.

    Headshot!

    Instant kill.

Du Ziteng was shocked by the sudden kill scene, his expression confused, wondering how he had died.

Did the game have a bug?

“Hahaha, this mode is quite interesting,” Chen Cong laughed when he saw Du Ziteng’s bewildered expression.

Du Ziteng, hearing Chen Cong’s laughter, realized his recent death must be connected to Chen Cong and not a bug.

“What exactly happened? How did I die?”

“You were stabbed by me,” Chen Cong couldn’t help but laugh again, recalling how Du Ziteng, oblivious to his presence, appeared like a fool.

“I didn’t even see you! How did you stab me?” Du Ziteng was still puzzled.

Chen Cong explained, “Because ghosts can go invisible, you naturally couldn’t see me.”

    Invisible!

Du Ziteng recalled that he had skipped some of the beginner tips, and it seemed that “invisibility” had been mentioned during the tutorial.

However, if ghosts could go invisible, even without guns, they still had a significant advantage since their opponents wouldn’t see the ghost at all—how would you play against that?

Thinking this, Du Ziteng voiced his confusion.

Hearing this, Chen Cong also pondered.

“Well, let’s play a few more rounds. I won’t kill you for now; see if you can figure out a way to spot me.”

He believed Cang Xue must have noticed something with such an unbalanced game mechanism; there must be something they hadn’t discovered.

Next, the two played a few more rounds, and Du Ziteng finally figured out how to locate him.

“Ah, so that’s how it is!” Du Ziteng said as he shot down the ghost hiding beside him.

“What? How did you find me?” Chen Cong was surprised to see himself suddenly killed.

Du Ziteng explained, “You can hear sounds; when you walked, I could hear your footsteps. When you got closer, I could also hear your breathing. With those two sounds, I could generally determine your location. Once I shot you, it made you briefly visible again.”

“Is that so? It’s almost time to switch sides; I want to experience that too. Let’s pull a few of the others from the club into the room; it’ll be more fun with more people.”

    Chen Cong eagerly suggested.

Time passed by little by little, and soon two hours had gone by.

“Come on, let’s play another round,” Chen Cong shouted, looking at the failure screen, feeling unsatisfied.

“Hey, we’ve been playing Ghost Mode for two hours already. We haven’t even tried Biohazard Mode yet,” Du Ziteng pointed out at the right moment. Ghost Mode was fun, but they shouldn’t forget their purpose, which was to test the game.

“Alright, let’s try Biohazard Mode then.” Chen Cong reluctantly exited Ghost Mode and entered Biohazard Mode.

Two hours later, looking at the failure screen again, Chen Cong shouted, “Hurry, let’s play another round.”

Du Ziteng looked at Chen Cong’s excited demeanor and said helplessly, “Now it’s already eleven o’clock, and we still have a Survival Mode to try.”
