by MarineTLChapter 150: Boxed Lunch Business Cancelled
Canceling the boxed lunch business would mean over twenty thousand yuan less in monthly revenue.
But today really was a double blessing!
“Just place them over by the employee cafeteria!”
Chen Mo said, taking the lead out of his office and bringing Pang Tao to the employee cafeteria.
He pointed to an empty spot behind the cafeteria and said,
“Put them right there.”
Pang Tao glanced at the location, then grabbed several large iron mesh racks from the truck and quickly began assembling them on the spot Chen Mo had indicated.
“Need a hand? I can call a few people over to help you.”
Chen Mo asked. This large iron cage was something he and Xu Zhengming had arranged for—after all, this was inside the factory, with people constantly coming and going, so it would be safer to keep the dogs enclosed.
“No need, Mr. Chen. I brought all the tools. It’s easy enough to set up. If you’ve got other things to do, go right ahead.”
Pang Tao quickly waved him off.
Chen Mo observed for a while and, seeing that Pang Tao really didn’t need help, turned and walked into the cafeteria.
He was planning to inform Wang Maonian that starting from today’s lunch, the company would be canceling its boxed lunch sales.
Unexpectedly, Li Shen was also in the cafeteria.
Well, that made things easier—he could notify the instigator as well.
“Mr. Chen, is there something you need?”
Li Shen was squatting on the ground organizing disposable lunchboxes when he noticed Chen Mo approaching. He quickly stood up.
“What are you doing?”
Chen Mo looked at him curiously.
This guy needed to be watched carefully—no more sneaky moves from him.
“Oh, the disposable lunchboxes are running low. I was checking the quantity so I can order another batch.”
Li Shen lifted the bag full of disposable boxes from the ground.
Chen Mo glanced at it and saw that there really weren’t many left in the bag.
But it didn’t matter how many were left—they wouldn’t be needing boxed lunches anymore.
Chen Mo thought to himself, then smiled at Li Shen.
“No need to buy more lunchboxes. We won’t be needing them.”
Seeing the puzzled look on Li Shen’s face, he continued,
“Starting today, the company is officially canceling the boxed lunch sales.”
“But Mr. Chen, if we cancel the boxed lunches, won’t all the leftover food go to waste?”
Li Shen asked hastily.
Chen Mo waved a hand.
“It won’t go to waste. I brought in a few dogs. From now on, all leftover food from the company will be used to feed them.”
“They’re in the area behind the employee cafeteria now.”
Feed dogs?
Li Shen’s expression turned a bit odd. While there wasn’t anything wrong with what Chen Mo was doing…
Just thinking about those boxed lunches that people from the industrial park scrambled for every day now being used to feed dogs—it felt off.
Curious, he walked to the back of the cafeteria and saw a middle-aged man setting up iron cages. Tied to a truck parked out front were five dogs.
It was clear these were the dogs Chen Mo had brought in.
“Let me introduce you—this is Pang Tao, the person in charge of a new project I’ve invested in.”
“And this is Li Shen, currently the director of both Procurement and Logistics at the clothing factory.”
Chen Mo introduced them to each other.
“Nice to meet you. I look forward to working with you.”
Pang Tao quickly put down his tools and shook Li Shen’s hand.
“Brother Pang, you’re too polite.”
Li Shen replied, while also stepping up to help with the iron fencing.
After a while, the two finished assembling the enclosure.
Pang Tao moved the dogs from the truck into the enclosure and looked at Chen Mo.
“Mr. Chen, I’ll be heading out now.”
“Alright.”
Chen Mo nodded, watched Pang Tao leave, then returned to his office.
Li Shen took another look at the five dogs adjusting to their new surroundings, then went back to the cafeteria.
Looking at the small pile of remaining disposable lunchboxes on the ground, he let out a sigh.
His boxed lunch empire was officially over.
After a moment of thought, he tossed the bag with the few remaining lunchboxes into a nearby trash can.
“Why’d you throw away the lunchboxes? What are we going to use for food later?”
Wang Maonian had just finished preparing lunch and walked out of the kitchen, only to see Li Shen throwing the disposable lunchboxes away.
“No need anymore—and there weren’t many left anyway.”
“What do you mean we don’t need them? Aren’t we selling boxed lunches later?”
Wang Maonian looked at Li Shen in confusion.
Seeing the puzzled expression, Li Shen explained:
“Mr. Chen has canceled the boxed lunch business. He adopted five dogs from a cat-and-dog rescue shelter, and from now on, all leftover food will be fed to them.”
He had learned this while helping Pang Tao with the fencing.
Upon hearing this, Wang Maonian couldn’t help but sigh.
“Mr. Chen truly has a kind heart—not only does he treat employees well, but he’s also so compassionate toward stray cats and dogs.”
“Yeah.”
Li Shen agreed.
He’d initially thought Mr. Chen just wanted to keep dogs for fun. But after chatting with Pang Tao, he realized it was all for the sake of the strays.
He also learned from Pang Tao that the new project was related to stray animals.
Mr. Chen really was full of compassion.
Suddenly, an idea struck Li Shen—maybe he could make a short video about all this.
Then go visit the animal rescue shelter too. After all, Mr. Chen had donated 500,000 yuan worth of cat and dog food—it was worth documenting on camera.
Mr. Chen had noble character and did good deeds without seeking fame.
But as someone under Mr. Chen’s leadership, he should think about ways to promote him.
“With the boxed lunch business gone, doesn’t that mean you’ve got even less to do now?”
Wang Maonian joked. He’d often heard Li Shen complain about being too idle.
Well, now the lunch business was gone too.
“How could I have nothing to do? I can still make short videos to promote the company.”
Li Shen said, relieved. Good thing he’d found something new to work on—otherwise, he really would’ve been twiddling his thumbs.
Now that the lunch business was over, he could focus entirely on creating content to promote the clothing factory.
Just like that—
The two chatted for a while longer, and soon it was time to clock out.
Groups of employees streamed into the cafeteria for dinner.
With the new hires, the factory now had over 80 workshop employees. Every mealtime, the cafeteria was lively and bustling.
Li Shen also grabbed a tray and sat at a table to eat.
After finishing his meal, he didn’t leave.
Now that the boxed lunch business was canceled, the regular customers wouldn’t know. He had to stay and inform them when they arrived.
Sure enough, around six o’clock, Li Shen stood by the former boxed lunch window and looked into the distance.
He spotted scattered figures sprinting toward him like usual.
This scene happened daily—boxed lunches were limited in number, and if you came late, you’d miss out.
But this time, no matter how fast they ran—it wouldn’t matter.
Soon, a young man with short hair arrived at the window, panting.
“Brother Shen, give me five boxed lunches!”
