by MarineTLChapter 344: Old Morgan’s Fury, and His Disgust with the Useless New York Police Department
That cold, cutting question.
It made Chief Walker’s body tremble. He didn’t even bother putting the hazmat suit back into the storage locker.
Instead, he tossed it aside and quickly squeezed up next to Old Morgan, still wearing a flattering smile as he nodded emphatically.
“Yes, CEO Morgan.”
“The corpse before you is the killer who murdered Young Master Morgan.”
This time, Old Morgan didn’t ask anything right away. He simply stared coldly at Walker, his gaze emotionless.
That look made Chief Walker inexplicably nervous. His voice began to tremble as he rushed to explain.
“CEO Morgan, here’s what happened…”
“Yesterday, after receiving the video you sent, I immediately extracted the portraits of the eleven perpetrators and their accomplices.”
“Using our internal police database, we ran a nationwide facial recognition search. We also questioned the rats in New York’s sewers and uncovered a crucial lead.”
“That is… all of the suspects came from a bar in Manhattan called Knight Bar.”
“In recent years, Knight Bar has become quite popular. Though it appears to be just another nightlife venue, in reality… it’s a deeply hidden brothel.”
“Various athletes, singers, and film stars go there for fun. The people in the video who killed Young Master Morgan were Knight Bar’s security staff.”
“Or rather… they were henchmen hired by the bar’s secret owner.”
“Once we got this lead, I immediately dispatched a team to apprehend the suspects at Knight Bar.”
“But then we received unexpected news…”
“Two hours ago, Knight Bar exploded and caught fire. Although it wasn’t open for business at the time, eleven staff members died in the incident.”
Old Morgan instantly understood what Walker was implying. His face remained expressionless as he spoke in a chilling tone.
“So, Walker, you simply assumed that the eleven dead were the ones who killed Little Morgan in the video?”
“Or… did you think the three days I gave you was too short, and instead of wasting time uncovering the truth and finding the real culprits, you figured it was easier to pin it on some charred corpses?”
At this moment, Walker could clearly hear the dissatisfaction in Old Morgan’s voice—and the fury that was about to erupt.
He quickly picked up a prepared file from the side and handed it to Old Morgan.
“CEO Morgan, our police department would never handle a case so carelessly.”
“If we hadn’t verified anything, how could we dare disturb you so early in the morning?”
“After bringing the eleven bodies back to the station, we immediately conducted emergency DNA testing and cross-referenced them with the internal citizen database to confirm their identities.”
“These are definitely not scapegoats. They are the real killers of Young Master Morgan.”
“My guess is that there’s an even bigger mastermind behind this. Once they realized you had found Young Master Morgan’s body yesterday, they chose to silence those who knew the whole story to avoid exposing themselves.”
A bigger mastermind?
Those words made Old Morgan turn to glance at Chief Walker, though his brows furrowed deeply.
Indeed, many organizations and individuals had their eyes on the Morgan Financial Group, this colossal entity. But it shouldn’t have reached the point where someone would dare to lay a hand on Little Morgan.
Because that was a line no one dared cross.
If someone was willing to attack the heir of Morgan Financial Group just to bring it down, then what about their own successors? Wouldn’t they have to consider the safety of their own heirs and empires?
If you strike first, don’t be surprised when I strike back.
If you can kill my heir, then why can’t the Morgan Financial Group do the same to yours?
By the unspoken rules, none of the major financial groups, organizations, or business empires would dare do such a thing.
Most of the sabotage stayed within the realm of business.
Besides, the Jewish financial groups didn’t consist of the Morgans alone. They were a vast network of organizations. Who in this world could truly withstand the wrath of the Jewish consortium?
As Old Morgan swiftly ran through these thoughts in his mind, he also flipped through the file Chief Walker had handed him.
The file clearly listed the identities of the henchmen from the video, their registered U.S. citizenship, and the results of the DNA tests on the corpses.
It was obvious.
The data checked out. Old Morgan gave a slight nod, confirming that the people silenced at Knight Bar were indeed the accomplices involved in Little Morgan’s murder.
But when Old Morgan turned to the final page…
He suddenly noticed something.
The main culprit—the punk man who had played the leading role in the video—was not listed in the file.
In other words, there was no record of his identity in the United States, and no DNA verification had been conducted on him.
At that moment, Old Morgan suddenly recalled a detail from a phone call he had made earlier with the Dragon Country Police. The officer he had spoken with had mentioned something…
The criminal who founded a vast drug trafficking organization in Dragon Country has already fled to the United States. He has close ties to the murderer of Little Morgan and is highly likely to assist the killer in escaping.
In this statement, it was already implicitly made clear… the leading Punk Man holds a high status. Someone like him shouldn’t have needed to be silenced in such a way.
Moreover, from what I saw earlier, the process of Dragon Country’s effort to apprehend this drug trafficking organization was incredibly difficult. The cunning of each member was beyond imagination.
Could this be a scapegoat, deliberately set up?
That would explain why the scene was intentionally set on fire, burning the bodies beyond recognition, making it impossible to identify their faces.
After all, if the person behind this was simply trying to silence witnesses and prevent a deeper investigation, there would’ve been no need to set the place ablaze.
Preserving the faces of those eleven people would have been just as effective in halting the investigation, and at least would have helped to slightly ease my anger.
With that thought, Old Morgan flung the documents in his hand onto the table, his expression blank as he stared at Walker and spoke.
“Chief Walker.”
“There are only ten identities and DNA profiles here. And conveniently, the one missing is the main Punk Man.”
“I expect a reasonable explanation from you. Otherwise…”
At the threatening tone in his voice, beads of sweat began to form on Chief Walker’s forehead. But he quickly responded with the answer he had already prepared.
“CEO Morgan.”
“Although we couldn’t confirm the identity of that body and there’s no DNA match in any database…”
“From a criminal investigation standpoint, this was clearly a premeditated silencing operation. All eleven individuals seen in that video—none of them could have escaped.”
“The mastermind behind this is afraid of your power. Naturally, they would eliminate every single person who knew too much.”
“As for why we couldn’t confirm the identity, it’s possible this person entered the country illegally, and served as a direct representative of the mastermind. That could explain the lack of records.”
“But please rest assured, I can personally guarantee that this body is absolutely the Punk Man.”
“Walker, do you think I’m senile?” Old Morgan’s cloudy eyes sharpened as he fixed Chief Walker with a piercing stare, the pressure of authority heavy in his voice.
“You haven’t even confirmed the identity, and you’re telling me… this is the main culprit behind Little Morgan’s murder?”
“And now you’re pushing everything onto some shadowy mastermind? Then tell me—what family, what business empire would dare lay a hand on the sole heir of Morgan Financial Group?”
“Go on, tell me.”
“Have you even considered the possibility that the Punk Man himself is the true mastermind behind all this?”
“Or is it that… you know who he is, and you’re trying to cover for him with this smoke-and-mirrors act, treating me like some senile old fool with dementia?”
