Chapter 95: A Rebellious Disciple Is Still a Rebellious One

“President Chen, what are your instructions?”

    Not long after,

Li Shen walked into the office, looking ready for action at any moment.

Ever since President Chen shot down his side hustle of selling boxed lunches, he’d more or less returned to a state of having nothing to do.

“There is something I need you to do.”

“Jiang Cheng should have spoken to you already about purchasing the machines, right?”

Chen Mo looked at Li Shen with a smile.

“Yeah, Brother Jiang came to me this morning. We’ve already gotten in touch with the machinery factory. We’re going over tomorrow to inspect the equipment. If there are no issues, we’ll bring them back and put them into operation.”

“President Chen, is there a change of plans?”

Li Shen looked at him, puzzled.

“You guys can proceed as planned with the machine purchase. But while you’re at it tomorrow, I want you to buy some household supplies as well.”

“Oh, that’s easy. What kind of household supplies do you want to get, President Chen?”

So it was just about buying some supplies—

Li Shen was a bit disappointed, thinking it was going to be something major.

Hearing the question, Chen Mo began to explain.

“It’s not for me. It’s for the workshop employees. The staff dormitory is finished now.”

“I just went to take a look, and there are still quite a few things missing inside.”

Li Shen was confused. He’d been to the dorm too—it was basically fully equipped. After airing it out for ten days to two weeks, the workers could move in with their bags.

What else was there to add?

Seeing Li Shen’s puzzled look, Chen Mo continued:

“I noticed there aren’t any cleaning tools in the dorm. To keep the rooms clean, those are absolutely necessary.”

    So that’s what it was!

Li Shen suddenly understood. He hadn’t expected President Chen to think of even that. The guy really was meticulous.

    He quickly said,

“Don’t worry, President Chen. I’ll buy a bunch of brooms and mops tomorrow.”

“No, no brooms or mops. Don’t they have those all-in-one floor-cleaning machines now that wash, mop, and vacuum? Get those. I want one in every room.”

“But President Chen, those things are expensive. One of those machines costs several thousand yuan!”

“No problem. Just buy them. It’ll save the employees time on cleaning so they have more time to rest. Well-rested employees will have more energy to work, right?”

Chen Mo waved it off, thinking to himself, Of course I want them expensive. That’s the point.

    “Understood, President Chen.”

    Li Shen nodded.

“Anything else you need me to handle?”

“There’s also the internet issue. Using mobile data after work won’t be enough, so the dorms have to have Wi-Fi. But since there are a lot of people, and the network might lag, make sure to lay enough cables.”

“Hmm… set it up so that every two dorms share one network port. And make sure the speed is high—go with gigabit connections.”

“That’s all. Just follow those requirements.”

Chen Mo leaned back in his chair and looked at Li Shen.

    “Got it, President Chen.”

Li Shen answered and left the office.

    Inside the office,

Chen Mo calculated mentally. Between the floor-cleaning machines and the network setup, he could probably burn through another 100,000+ yuan.

    Not bad.

It wasn’t a huge amount, but it was another small step toward spending it all.

    He checked the time.

4:30 PM. Only half an hour left till the end of the workday.

Thinking about it, he decided to open Tianlong Game and enjoy himself a bit.

Just then, the office door was knocked again.

Wu Yu poked his head in, wearing a faint smile.

Seeing that look, Chen Mo’s heart skipped a beat.

He knew that expression all too well. His throat moved a little, and his voice even came out hoarse.

    “How much this time?”

“President Chen’s eyes are like torches—you could tell at a glance I took an order.”

“This time it’s not much, just a small 100,000-yuan order. But Cai Jing also got one for 100,000. So together that’s 200,000.”

    Wu Yu chuckled.

Torch my ass, Chen Mo cursed silently. You wear that same damn expression every time you walk in here with a new order.

You’ve come in here at least eight or ten times already lately.

Chen Mo clenched his teeth. He’d just spent 100,000 with great effort, and now you’ve brought in 200,000 in new orders?

    Like master, like disciple.

A rebellious disciple is still a rebellious one.

Looking at Wu Yu’s grinning face, the more Chen Mo thought about it, the angrier he got. Does he think spending money is easy?

“Wu Yu,” he said suddenly, “you won first place in the company sports day. Looks like your physical fitness is pretty solid. Your mentor used to lead the morning runs, but ever since he transferred to Cangxue Games, that spot’s been vacant. Starting tomorrow, you’ll take over.”

“But President Chen, I have to go on business runs early tomorrow!”

    Wu Yu quickly protested.

Leading the morning run meant you had to run every day. Afterward, you’d be drenched in sweat—not exactly presentable for meeting clients. At the very least, you’d need a shower, which would eat up time.

If you didn’t lead the run, you’d only have to participate every three days. He had just finished his run today, so he planned to head out early tomorrow to visit a few more clients.

    Hearing that,

Still thinking about chasing orders, huh?

Chen Mo sneered inwardly. Definitely one of Wei Yan’s pupils.

“Little Wu, morning exercise is part of our corporate culture. As for business, you can still run it after the jog. You’ll be just in time.”

    “…Alright.”

Seeing how firm President Chen was, Wu Yu could only agree.

Looks like he’d have to pick up the pace during business runs from now on.

Watching Wu Yu leave, Chen Mo had completely lost the mood to play games.

Now that Wu Yu had taken another 200,000 in orders, he still had to spend 1.6 million in system funds to reach the goal.

Should he really play the trump card of expanding the workshop?

    No.

That was his insurance for whether or not he could successfully complete the settlement.

Wait… what about Cangxue Games? There might be spending opportunities there.

    Chen Mo’s eyes lit up.

He’d barely paid attention to Cangxue Games lately. Since investing 500,000 into Fang Chang’s new project, he hadn’t really followed up.

Time to take a trip to Cangxue Games tomorrow. Maybe I can burn through some of the funds there.

    ………

    Next morning,

    Cangxue Games.

    Inside the office.

“President Chen, even if we max out requirements for all the art, modeling, and servers, it still won’t cost 1.6 million.”

“Plus, doing that would slow down the game’s development timeline.”

Fang Chang responded after hearing Chen Mo’s request.

“No problem. Slowing things down a bit is fine. Good work takes time. I want a premium game.”

“As for the excess budget, it’s easy—don’t we have a few other games in the pipeline? We can allocate some funds to operations for those too.”

Chen Mo waved it off like it was no big deal.

    He thought to himself—

Game progress? Please. I know exactly who you are. As the lead planner, you made several money-losing games under the previous boss. A slow progress just means the game will flop later. Like I care.

    He definitely didn’t mind.
