Chapter 228: I Suspect Cangxue Has Some Difficulties

Sipping his coffee lightly, Chen Mo calmed his nerves.

He opened the gaming platform and checked the download numbers for [Extreme Survival].

There were only a few downloads.

Chen Mo felt completely at ease. These few downloads were likely just employees from Cangxue Games.

Everything was going as he expected; without any promotion, even if the game launched, hardly anyone would choose to download it.

However, knowing Fang Chang’s capabilities, he decided that the next game’s development couldn’t be entrusted to Fang Chang.

It would be better to let Fang Chang focus on managing the company as a manager, while other employees could handle the development of the new game.

But who should develop the new game?

Chen Mo pondered for a while, then quickly wrote down Wei Yan’s name on a piece of paper.

Yes, Wei Yan was the right choice.

After much consideration, he realized that most of the employees in the gaming company had some understanding of games.

Wei Yan was different; he was transferred from the Clothing Factory.

Originally in sales, he had little to no contact with games. Even after working at Cangxue for a while, he couldn’t possibly know much about games.

Making him the planner for the third game seemed very reliable.

Additionally, Fang Chang and Zhao Bowen were instructed to manage their own game projects and not interfere with Wei Yan’s project.

The choice of game genre couldn’t be left to them either; it had to be a declining genre for them to develop.

A declining game genre, combined with Wei Yan’s lack of game knowledge.

Chen Mo was confident that such a combination couldn’t possibly develop a profitable game.

However, the office building had just been rented and was undergoing renovations. Even if he wanted to invest in a new game, it would have to wait until the office renovations were complete.

Currently, the employees at Cangxue Games were busy maintaining Tianlong and Extreme Survival, leaving no room to spare for new projects.

To develop new projects, new employees would need to be recruited.

But the current Cangxue Games location couldn’t accommodate more new employees.

They would have to wait until the office renovations were finished, allowing some Cangxue employees to move to the group headquarters, before recruiting more staff.

After figuring all this out, he decided to temporarily set aside the new game plans.

At present, System Funds still had 5.7 million left. With two weeks until settlement, Tianlong would bring in about 8 million from weekly and daily card sales.

Out of this, 5.3 million would go towards employee salaries, taxes, and other expenses.

So he had 8.4 million in expenses.

If it weren’t for Li Shen saving 1.1 million in rent, plus the Coffee Shop’s recent profits, he’d have around 7 million left in System Funds.

However, with 7 million in System Funds, he could easily spend it according to his spending manual.

First, the employee cafeteria next to the office building could take up a large chunk of funds.

As for the restaurant space, he had already asked Li Shen to scout for it.

Then there was the team-building dinner. It seemed almost two months had passed since the last one, so organizing another one now posed no issue.

These two expenses alone could nearly deplete the System Funds.

And even if they didn’t, he had other ways to spend money, so he wasn’t too worried.

    …………..

    At Sky Pavilion Game Club,

Chen Cong hung up the phone and turned to Du Ziteng.

“Cangxue called to say the game is launching today.”

“Launching just like that? Why was there no buzz at all?”

Du Ziteng was surprised. The trial had ended two days ago, and they thought Cangxue would do some promotion before launching.

    Unexpectedly, it launched quietly.

Curious, he opened the gaming platform and quickly found Extreme Survival.

Seeing only a dozen downloads, Du Ziteng was even more puzzled. Why wasn’t such a good game being promoted?

Chen Cong also noticed the game’s status on the platform but didn’t think much of it. He downloaded the game right away.

While downloading, he shared the game’s launch news in their group chat.

Now that the trial was over, it was time to really enjoy the game.

During the trial, he had finally figured out how to play longer and had even secured several first-place wins.

The trick was to team up with skilled players.

“Du Ziteng, download quickly. I’ll call Jiang Jiu and Su Yibo, and we’ll team up for a couple of matches.”

“Yeah, I want to play Ghost Mode.”

Du Ziteng glanced at Chen Cong and spoke calmly.

Since trying out Extreme Survival, he had noticed a problem with Chen Cong—he was both bad at the game and loved playing it.

Teaming up with him felt like dragging around dead weight.

And to top it off, whenever they managed to kill someone, Chen Cong was the most eager to loot the spoils.

“Come on, it’s more fun to play together. I’ll treat you all to dinner tonight.”

Chen Cong tried to persuade him.

Without these guys’ protection, he’d definitely get knocked out right at the start.

After some coaxing and the promise of a meal, Du Ziteng finally agreed to play a couple of rounds with Chen Cong.

However, once they downloaded the game, they encountered a problem.

Since the game hadn’t been promoted, hardly any players knew about it. Their random matchmaking ended up with them facing bots.

There was no challenge at all.

“These bots are so weak, it’s boring,” Chen Cong said, shooting down a bot with a single clip, feeling a bit bored.

Du Ziteng took off his headphones, looking helpless.

“Without promotion, the downloads on the platform are probably just us. Random matchmaking will likely be 90% bots. If you want to fight real players, you’ll need to create a custom room.”

“Seriously, I’ll call Fang Chang and ask what’s going on. Such a fun game, not promoting it is such a waste.”

Seeing Chen Cong’s intention, Du Ziteng stopped him from making the call.

“Better not ask. For such a good game, not promoting it isn’t normal. I suspect Cangxue might be facing some difficulties.”

    “What kind of difficulties?”

    Chen Cong looked puzzled.

Du Ziteng thought for a moment before speaking slowly.

“I suspect they might not have the funds for promotion.”

“But that can’t be right. Tianlong is really popular now. There shouldn’t be a lack of funds!”

“Tianlong is popular, but Cangxue’s boss doesn’t just own one game company; he has several others. After signing the contract with Fang Chang, I looked into it. Apart from Cangxue Games, the other companies under that boss aren’t doing well. I suspect the profits from Tianlong are being funneled into those other companies, leaving no funds for the current game’s promotion.”
