Make Money C19
by MarineTLChapter 19: Boss Chen Must Be Encouraging Us
Wei Yan turned his head and was surprised to see that it was Chen Mo. He quickly waved his hand.
“No need, Boss Chen. It’s not too heavy. The two of us can handle it quickly.”
“Alright, then. You guys carry on.”
Chen Mo glanced at the bundles on the ground but didn’t think much of it. He simply smiled and left.
Once Chen Mo was far away, Li Shen leaned in and asked Wei Yan,
“Yan-ge, do you think Boss Chen noticed what we were doing?”
“He probably did. These bundles are filled with unsold clothing. How could Boss Chen not recognize them?”
“What should we do? We wanted to surprise him.”
“Honestly, it was never realistic to hide this from Boss Chen. After all, as we sell off the excess stock, the warehouse inventory will keep decreasing. He would have found out sooner or later.”
“That’s true.”
Li Shen nodded.
Wei Yan, however, smiled confidently.
“Did you see Boss Chen’s smile just now? That was clearly encouragement. This means he supports what we’re doing.”
“As long as we clear out all these excess clothes, Boss Chen will definitely be happy.”
“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s get moving.”
Li Shen quickly loaded the clothes onto the vehicle.
Old Town Market
“Duoduo, what do you want to eat tonight? Daddy will buy it for you.”
Yang Dahai walked through the market, carrying a school bag and holding Yang Duoduo’s hand.
Yang Duoduo’s gaze lingered on the meat stalls for a while, but she quickly shifted her focus to the vegetable stalls instead.
“Teacher said we need to eat more vegetables to stay healthy.”
Seeing this, Yang Dahai felt a pang of heartache.
Even though he and his wife had tried their best to hide the family’s financial struggles from their daughter, she had clearly noticed.
Thinking back, his daughter, who used to love eating meat, hadn’t asked for it in a long time.
But now, he had a job with a good salary. There was no need to be as frugal as before.
With that in mind, he led his daughter to the meat stall.
“Boss, give me three pounds of pork and two pounds of beef.”
Yang Dahai pointed at two pieces of good-looking meat.
“Daddy, Duoduo doesn’t like eating meat.”
Yang Duoduo tugged at Yang Dahai’s clothes.
Yang Dahai felt his heart ache even more. He rubbed his daughter’s small head and bent down, speaking softly.
“Duoduo, Daddy can earn money now. We don’t have to be so tight on money anymore.”
“Really?”
Yang Duoduo’s big eyes widened with disbelief.
“Of course, it’s true.”
“Yay! Duoduo gets to eat meat tonight!”
Yang Duoduo’s innocent laughter rang out.
Children are easy to please. Just getting to eat their favorite food could make them happy for a long time.
Before long, Yang Dahai walked out of the market carrying large bags of groceries.
Since he had a new job now, he decided to celebrate with a nice meal.
At Home
When Dong Hong saw Yang Dahai carrying all those groceries inside, she froze for a moment. Then she turned to their daughter.
“Duoduo, go to your room for a bit. Mommy needs to talk to Daddy.”
“Oh!”
Yang Duoduo tilted her head, glanced at her parents, and obediently went into the room.
Once their daughter was inside, Dong Hong looked at Yang Dahai with a serious expression.
“You know our financial situation. How are we supposed to manage if you spend money like this?”
Looking at all the meat, vegetables, and even fruit, Dong Hong felt distressed. The money he spent today could have covered their expenses for a whole month.
Yang Dahai grinned foolishly.
“You still have the nerve to smile?”
Dong Hong got even angrier, her eyes turning red.
Seeing that his wife was about to cry, Yang Dahai quickly tried to comfort her.
“Alright, I have good news—I found a job!”
Hearing this, Dong Hong calmed down slightly. She then asked anxiously,
“The job you mentioned last night? Did they ask you to pay any fees?”
“No, the boss is a good man. There were no fees—just a contract to sign.”
Yang Dahai smiled. Thinking about his experience today, it was probably the luckiest day he’d had in years.
“It’s not some kind of scam contract, is it?”
“Come on, of course not! The boss is really nice. He even had his assistant explain the contract terms to me.”
Seeing how worried his wife was, Yang Dahai felt both touched and amused.
“But even if you found a job, you can’t spend like this. Wait… where did you get the money?”
“Yang Dahai! You’ve been secretly hiding money from me?!”
Dong Hong grew even angrier and pinched Yang Dahai hard on the waist.
“Ow, ow, ow! Wife, let go and listen to me first!”
Yang Dahai gritted his teeth and begged for mercy.
On the Sofa
Dong Hong looked at the bank transfer records on her phone. Tears welled up in her eyes and started falling uncontrollably.
“Wife, isn’t this a good thing? Why are you crying?”
Yang Dahai was flustered.
“I’m crying because I’m happy. You have to work hard now and not upset your boss.”
Dong Hong wiped her tears.
“I know. With such a good job, if I don’t cherish it, I might as well be dead.”
“Don’t talk nonsense.”
Dong Hong glared at him before getting up and heading to the kitchen.
“I’ll let it slide this time. But don’t waste money like this again.”
“Hehe, got it.”
Yang Dahai chuckled foolishly.
“What are you laughing at? Hurry up and help me.”
“Oh, right! By the way, Boss Chen has helped our family a lot. I noticed that he’s been eating takeout every day, and that’s not healthy. Let’s cook extra and bring some food upstairs for him.”
Upstairs
Chen Mo sat on the sofa, looking at the system panel in his mind.
[Host: Chen Mo]
[System Funds: 1,394,754/2 million]
[Personal Assets: 2,825]
[Settlement Period: Two weeks (Countdown: 11 days, 15 hours…)]
He had only spent a little over 600,000.
Looks like I need to find more ways to spend money.
Buying a car tomorrow might be a good option. However, based on the system’s rules, it probably has to be within the company’s operational needs.
Getting a luxury car worth millions is likely out of the question.
That said, I could address the employees’ lunch situation. Eating cheap takeout every day isn’t good—it doesn’t cost enough.
Maybe I should set up a cafeteria and hire a few top-tier chefs. That would be a huge expense.
Hmm… I’ll inspect the company tomorrow.
Having finalized his plan, Chen Mo relaxed on the sofa.
He glanced at the time—past 8 PM.
Time for dinner.
Just as he was about to order some takeout, someone knocked on his door.
Who could it be at this hour?
Puzzled, Chen Mo got up and looked through the peephole.
Nothing.
Did they knock on the wrong door?
Just as he was about to turn back, the knocking resumed.
What’s going on?!
Chen Mo looked through the peephole again, but the hallway was empty.
A chill ran down his spine.
Is this… a ghost?
